Then it's time to change habits a bit.
After long testing I've found manabase managable. I've tried both 2 Scrylands and 4 Scrylands in 22 lands deck and it worked just fine. I was playing low density of 1CMC drops (actually only Cacklers were good T1 play) so I don't mind if I loose T1 play to get tapped land and fix my next draw. I guess that's the way to go.
Additionaly, when you're playing on low curve, but you have some kind of high-CMC tech in SB (think Burning Earth or Possibility Storm), Scryland is great as SB card. You increase the rate at which you get the lands = you increase your chance to hit 5 mana on T5 while with Hammer of Purphoros you can always just bin lands when in dire need of 3/3 hasty creatures.

I'm thinking low-curve Aggro is probably going to want to be mono colored without access to 8 duals that ETB untapped.

RIP: Spike Jester
Why would they tantalize me with this card and then make it unplayable with upcoming manabases.

:frown:
4 Blood Crypt
4 Godless Shrine
4 Rakdos Guildgate
11 Mountain

It's a bit riskier with Ash Zealot, but it gets you the black sources you need for
Jester while still allowing you to cast Reckoner.

I was thinking about making manabases "old way". With usage of both types of basic lands. First results were terrible.

22 Lands: 4 Stomping Ground 2 Gruul Scryland 8 Mountain 8 Forest
Played equal amount of Green and Red Creatures. Red spells.
My deck wasn't greedy on anything else than 1CMC drops (4 Cackler 4 Experiment One 2 Loyalist).
I could cast my 1CMC drop in 20% of times with around 20 playtests. And shit wasn't bright and shiny later as well.

This close to what I'll start out with post-rotation. I want a budget friendly deck right now, and since I want the black removal spells I'll try a RB deck. I have only one Godless Shrine, so no Reckoners for now. It's based on Valdarith's block Rakdos deck.

[deck]
Creatures (26)
4 Foundry Street Denizen
4 Rakdos Cackler
4 Gore-House Chainwalker
4 Spike Jester
3 Hellhole Flailer
4 Bloodfray Giant
3 Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch

Spells (11)
4 Lightning Strike
4 Doom Blade
3 Hammer of Purphoros

Lands (23)
4 Rakdos Guildgate
4 Blood Crypt
11 Mountain
4 Swamp

Sideboard (15)
2 Flames of the Firebrand
3 Legion Loyalist
4 Dreadbore
4 Act of Treason
2 Slaughter Games
[/deck]

Any thoughts?

Needs more Ash Zealot. She really is that good. I'd rather have her than Gore-house since she walls a lot of creatures, and she can attack profitably into many more.

What about Ogre Battledriver in place of Bloodfray? He makes everything better, especially late-game Cacklers.

He doesn't have value on his own. And Trample, which is pretty relevant. When I was looking for 4CMC slot for Mono Red, I was mostly sold on Bloodfray. Oops, there's Exava.

I put in GHCs instead of Zealots to lower the chances of having an unplayable two-drop on the second turn due to the basic swamps. And if that Sylvan Caryatid gets played both GHC and Jester don't get stopped so easily.

Ogre Battledriver instead of Bloodfray Giant might be better, I have to playtest a bit with both. I really like the trample on the giant. But Battledriver would be sweet with the Hammer.

Yeah, the Hammer + Battledriver could be a thing.

I want to try to make Carnage Gladiator work.

He requires you to have a field. And when you cast him while you have a field, everything gets wiped out. With any red "deals x damage to every creature" (Wizards pls), he's useless.

I just realized that Carnage Gladiator causes 1 lifeloss for each blocking creature. I've always read it as causing lifeloss for only the creature blocking the gladiator...well, that makes it a bit more interesting.

We used to have this cat when I was a kid that was a natural born predator. I swear to god this cat had wings. Every kind of bird you could imagine would show up on our door step during the day, anything from a mockingbird to a (I shit you not) sand hill crane. Sand hill cranes are mean as hell, so I have no idea how this 10lb cat managed to down that beast.

A few times he'd bring less than impressive things home though. There were a few kittens, cats just smaller than him in general...more than a few baby birds. feelsbadman.jpg

Guize. Female friend wants to meet up and do unmentionable things to me in the near future.

I feel like there's some sort of moral highground decision thing here.

So, should I go for it? Yes or yes?

Good answer.
I didn't go for it.

Duel decks and similar releases drag down the value of cards. I personally never buy them anymore unless it's early and the market hasn't adjusted to the influx of rares yet.

Duel Decks are Wizards's way of squeezing one last dollar out of cards that are soon to rotate/cards that have low impact on the format, anyway.

Depends on the person. Some need to stay longer - most, IME, could probably afford to leave a little sooner.

Victory! We won 80-26 in a not so close game. I got pulled midway through the second quarter leading 62-8. My stats were 4 solo tackles 3 assists and a fumble recovery. On to game number 2!

Losing people like Ledger--who you know would have had some beyond-the-curve impact of some sort if they'd had the time on this earth--is particularly tragic.

@TH - Congrats on the big win! My son's school team regrettably got trounced tonight, but the band played really well on the competition program debut so we had a good night. Watching high school football from the end zone (I'm a photographer and field crew member for the band) is really an awesome perspective...you can almost feel the kinetic energy of each play.

Early testing of Boros Midrange, the following cards are absurd:
- Chandra, Young Pyro, Magma Jet, Boros Charm, Hammer

Hammer is actually fucking retarded with Chandra, but I doubt you run more than 1 (Chandra already has problems flipping another copy of herself).

Good:
- all the other burn, Phoenix, scryland

In contention:
- Ash Zealot, Reckoner

I was facing too much removal out of decks that meant I was getting no value. Doesn't mean they're bad, but they might not be optimal in some versions of a settled meta.

Chandra is just stupid on an empty board, or a locked board.
