Been playing the UR Storm deck for a while, thought I'd jump in on this forum. I've seen some discussion on Looting vs Ravings lists, and I am a firm believer that the Ravings lists are strictly better. Randomness might feel bad, but the deck is highly redundant and the graveyard synergies really ad...

For the first scenario I think I would slam YP$. It's certainly not what we want to do, but I think it's what we have to do in order to have a reasonable chance of winning that game. If you slam the YP$ and he doesn't kill it then you can start spitting out tokens and trying to race. If he does answ...

For the third scenario, I think if he doesn't take YP$ then he's banking on another card to take care of it. That could be a removal spell or more discard. If he takes the skullcrack then he might not have removal for it and have runner-runner gray metchants.

"Tempo decks" are one of the worst travesties that have polluted the vocabularies of magic players for years. Mostly because that moniker doesn't mean anything.
This. So many people struggle with the concept just because the term has been thrown around so loosely.

You know the format is stale and we've discussed RW burn to death when we talk about significant others, site traffic, and random drama more than the deck this thread is named after.

Yeah I go to the same events every week so it's clear that magic is a thing I do, at specified times of the week, not anymore, not any less. If I plan on playing more than I usually do (for an event out-of-town or something) I tell the lady very far in advance and mention it repeatedly so there's no...

Yo Hammer's pretty janky. You want all your land drops against control, having 6+ isn't even awful because it lets you swing with mutavaults, throw multiple burn spells, and throw helix while holding up skullcrack. The haste is rarely relevant.

Yeah after typing that post I ended up shoving in the Reprisal. I find making posts very helpful for reaching decisions.

Yeah your point makes sense. I think I'd just go 12 and 12 since I've always been on the drawing too many mutavaults end of the spectrum. Plus, I like the SB plans which involve boarding in more creatures/threats than removal (not saying you don't I just don't know what your board looks like), so ha...

I've always thought 11 white sources was enough, and I was just taken aback by the low mountain count. If it works for you go at it; I just thought I'd say something on the off-chance it was helpful. When Battlefield Forge is playable, I'll probably try 12 white sources. Your post + a recent beating...

It's criminal. EDIT: Post m15 I'll probably go -1 ...

Lately I haven't been able to play much magic and I've been consistently doing poorly at FNMs. I hope it's just my lack of play-time and me screwing up that's causing my losses. Shota made a list that boarded Reckoner + Flamespeaker. Many lists that board Reckoner are mimicking the list and thus also run Flamespeaker.

I'm curious about that actually. Do you (and others) feel it's appropriate to board in Wear//Tear against monoblue to hit Hall of Triumph and BIdent of Thassa? I've been bringing in 1 since it feels narrow but the cards it hits can be very relevant.

This would not work. Mutavault gains all creature types, which are subtypes, and Artifact is a supertype on creature.

IDK. Flamespeaker totally saved my ass last night in matchups against MUD and MBA. Once you start drawing cards with it you pretty much cant lose - mindsparker is nice, but it doesnt draw cards, which I feel like is the key thing about flamespeaker.

But I doubt it, the manabase is so awful becasue of him and I don't think it gets much better.

To me, Shouta's list is better and I don't have any questions about the card choices.
