And on today's dramatic episode of "Life of Windstrider" watch as our protagonist wrestles with more car troubles and a broken water heater. Thrilling!
Remember what you did with your ex wife?

You need to do that with your car.

Yeah. It may be something as simple as replacing spark plugs. Soon, though.

[deck]Midrange Burn[/deck]

Quick napkin brew from playing Val's YP the past two weeks (any updates/changes btw? Been messing around with SB and reckoner answers). Mortars MD because I believe there will be a lot of decks running Smiter and other 3/4 toughness butts to wall behind.

Could drop a hammer or a FoF to get the last god. Snipe is also a drop canidate to make room for other things that pop out of spoiler, but for now he gives god effect backup or shocking for 6, or 4 if spell is countered as snipe and YP only care if you CAST a spell.

Thinking a SB of possibly.........
3 Reckoner
3 Pheonix (maybe move to MD for another beater?)
2/3 Stormbreath
Extra slots for:
Threaten
effects
Conditional burns
2/3 glaring spotlight if needed

I'm not convinced that Flames of the Firebrand is going to do enough. Same with Purphoros; if they kill your YP, it looks like the deck just falls apart.

I'm almost positive Purphorose is a trap card in Standard.

That's the way I feel as well. Poo-Poo Platter is going to be a sweet Commander card, but I'm really not sure it's going to be constructed playable. As we move forward with the block though, Poo-Poo Platter may become more playable though.

Thats my biggest issue with this list and why I keep putting it back on the brewing burner. And likewise I keep looking at the god and feel like there are going to be far too many ways to remove him in the not red colors.

The current YP build works because you also have Noble, Cackler, Zealot & Phoenix for straight beats. Which might mean that snipe and flames get cut for combo of said beats. Course then I it may be stronger just to look at the RW Boros build that you guys have started.

I think that he is playable, just not in the red lists we are used to. You'd really need to maximize his ability as a late-game win-condition, instead of playing him as a supplementary strategy. Between Ogre Battledriver, Assemble the Legion, Scion of Vhitu-ghazi (which is truly insane value) there's certainly a deck there somewhere. We're just missing cheap token producers a la Gather the Townsfolk & Thatcher's Revolt that would really bring the deck together.

The other decks may just be better though, especially Gruul :/

I haven't played my
list in a couple of weeks on account of me trying to tune RG modern budget build and UB control in Standard.

That said, I'm probably about to hang up my UB build with it being so close to rotation so I can begin investing in cards I KNOW I'm going to play when rotation hits. Things like Chandra, Sacred Foundry, Boros Charm, etc.

Here's something to consider. Threw it together on the fly so hardly optimized.

[deck]
Creatures (12)
4 Young Pyromancer
4 Boros Reckoner
4 Chandra's Phoenix

Spells (25)
4 Shock
2 Pillar of Flame
4 Searing Spear
4 Mizzium Mortars
4 Boros Charm
2 Wild Guess
4 Warleader's Helix
3 Chandra, Pyromaster

Lands (23)
4 Sacred Foundry
4 Clifftop Retreat
2 Boros Guildgate
2 Plains
11 Mountain
[/deck]

Fanatic of Mogis is going to be a possible breakout card, I know you guys have probably done your own math on the card but tossing up for illustration anyway

Assuming optimal hand/draws into a slow moving board:
T1 Cackler
T2 Zealot (4)
T3 Reckoner (8) // Phoenix (10)
T4 FoM (21--6devo+ 7combat // 5devo + 6combat)

Assuming Interactions
T1 Cackler
T2 Jet (2)
T3 Phoenix
T4 Hammer
T5 FoM for 5

Soldier of the Pantheon
CMC- W
Rare
Human Soldier
Protection from Multicolored.
Whenever an Opponent casts a Multicolored spell, you gain 1 life.
2/1

Nice weenie. I wonder if R will get something similar? I know every now and then in sets where W and R are tied together they get some symetrical effects (like the Heroes from Scars). It's a completely baseless speculation, but I think that'd probably make RDW extremely playable...

I would be amused if they made a red-based creature with a life loss clause. A 2/1 for R on it's own would be playable in RDW. 2/1 with an upside? Yes please.

I had given thought to the B 2/1 being a mirror version, but it's just too different.

R, 2/1, Pro Multi/Mono Colored, Opponent casts multi/mono colored spell it does 1 damage would be siiiiiiiiiiiiiick.

99% certain that's just incredibly wishful thinking on my part, though.

On the play don't worry about it, on the draw he's easy to kill if he becomes a problem. He isn't exactly high-impact against us.

@windstrider: I have a bad feeling that anything we want electrickery for will be accompanied by a certain giant pointy stick.

Since thats taken care of, is this one of the one drops we are looking for in Boros aggro to hit the 10?

4x Cackler 3x Legion Loyalist 3x Soldier of the Pantheon?

True....

On a side note.. did anyone else notice the possible weird interactions with Nivmagus Elemental and Heroic? Heroic cares about casts, not resolves....
T1 Nivmagus > T2 Magma Jet > T3 Anax & Cyamede > T4 2 Spells targeting A&C exile with elemental growing to 5/6 > swing with 7/8 trampler? 4 cards too much for a 5/6 on turn 4?

A more consistent synergy would be Nivmagus with Akron Crusdaer:
Elemental > Akron + (shock/weapon surge/dynacharge) Exile > swing with 3/4 NE and get a 1/1 for defense? 3 cards for a 3/4 on turn 2?

Trying to figure out if cute or worth building out

Heroics so far:
W - Favored Hoplite
WW - Phalanx Leader
1WW - Wingsteed Rider
1U - Artisan of Forms
2U - Triton Fortune Hunter
2U - Wavecrash Triton
B - Tormented Hero
3GG - Anthousa, Setessan Hero
1RW - Anax & Cyamede
WU - Battlewise Hoplite

unless the card breaks the bank i'd probably run just red 1 drops being that in a mostly red deck hitting red on t1 land drop will be easier then hitting your splashed color since if your not running basics for it you'd only have 4 t1 source of the splashed color

Edit: this applies for creatures

Lorddax - Young Pyromancer and Blistercoil Weird also fit that same "cast" trigger. Might be fun to work up a list abusing all those triggers.

On an interesting note, there are 30 cards currently from RtR and M14 that are either elementals or refer to elementals. The Master of Waves from Theros boosts elementals. Budding tribal?

[deck=TRIGGERS!]
4 Nivmagus Elemental
4 Heroic key
4 Heroic key
2 Heroic key // 4 Key
8 Synergy // 6 Synergy

4 Instant/sorc
4 Instant/sorc
4 Instant/sorc
4 Instant/sorc

22 lands

It's a good compliment to Aetherling, but with a much slower clock. Can't really kill it since it makes any card in your hand a counterspell for it, and if you don't have to tap it down he will scry 3 which is huge.

Right now the first feels like the most viable. You can go the giant magus route or you can play crusader into pyromancer for the swarm route or you can go for beats with hoplite. Curve tops at 3 so the land count may even be able to be pushed down for getting some more useful cards in.

@freedom thanks for catching that. UW is supposed to have 4 Heroics.
