"Mother" by Danzig just came on Pandora. The first time I heard this was in high-school. I wasn't impressed with them back then. Course, nothing really impressed me when I was in high school. Also, learned that Glenn Danzig was lead singer for The Misfits back in the late 70's/early 80's. Decided to give them a second chance and they are actually pretty fucking awesome.
Had a few WTF moments while watching the video, but the music is fantastic:

Target commercial? They have a couple more with 80's-90's songs. I immediately laugh when I see/hear them.Just heard an instrumental rendition of "Hey Ya" by OutKast in a commercial. I didn't realize that song had that kind of reverence already. Isn't that usually an honor reserved for 70's and 80's
hits?
Or am I just getting old?

SM, you complete me.

Last Caress, Skulls, Halloween (which was actually superbly covered by AFI), Die Die Die My Darling, I Turned Into A Martian, We Bite, Where Eagles Dare, Attitude, and Bullet are just a handful of the awesome tunes from the Danzig era.

In a pinch, Khaos' beard can help turn this around.
I rarely skip a Khaospawn wall of text because I know there is always piss at the end of the rainbow.

Finished a night of FNM and post FNM modo team draft. Apparently we now have a semi-pro player at our shop from the Philipines. Don't remember his name, but he won his Nats in 08, and top 8'd a couple GPs. Seems he missed some PTs do to Visa problems but now he's living in LA and will probably be playing at my shop(he won the draft tongiht).
For me, another 3-1 finish with mono-red. The one round I lost, me and my opponent had a combined 5 mulls in games so there's no big takeway there and besides my first round, none of my games where interesting. Though I did be a naya blitz player who played 6 creatures by turn 4 while I was on the draw so I guess that's something. The point in the game where I thought he had me when he played scavenging ooze mainboard of all things, I topdedck searing spear because I have good karma or something.

You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.
Beatdown is hard, though.

You are my hero. I didn't want to have to grind my way into MODO playing pauper, but I bought the Delver/Kiln Fiend deck last night and played it a little bit...yeah, it would have been easy, just slower than playing Standard 8-4s.Alex ill throw you a deck, NP.

Although if you have 2 Gitaxian Probes I wouldn't mind those either, I couldn't find Probes at ANY bots, that fucking card apparently just doesn't exist.

Steel Sabotage is also not a good card. Better than Annul but still not good.I'd buy paper foils.
When full Theros block will be up, we're all gonna tap dem enchantments.
The best analogy - Steel Sabotage. I managed to buy 10 foils and oh boy, was it worth.
This isn't [card]Autumn's Veil[/card]/Combust/Celestial Purge/Deathmark/Flashfreeze cycle. These were real sideboard technology that had an impact on whether or not people played cards or not.
I'd rather be playing Congregate than [card]Annul[/
card]...and that's saying a lot.

If they're playing such a narrow card, you should be winning. How many enchantments or artifacts are you going to be playing? In other words, don't worry about it. It's not like we're seeing Mana Leak again.Whatever floats your boat. I still think UB is going to use it. They have no answers to gods and enchantments/artifacts as overall except of counterspells, and it costing mere 1 mana makes it decent SB card.
As for UB, they'll be using discard effects rather than narrow counterspells to get rid of enchantments. Red doesn't have a direct answer to enchantments, and it hasn't slowed us down all that much.
I'm curious, though, do the god cards count as creature cards in your hand?

It's still narrow. Essence Scatter + Negate cover everything between them, and you still didn't see U/W decks running even full playsets of these. Why? because getting caught with dead counters in your hand gets you dead. Playing a counter--even sideboard--that hits from zero to a few cards in any given deck when you have broader choices simply does not make sense. Saving one mana isn't worth dead cards.
Compare this to Dark Betrayal. It hits ALL black creatures (that can be destroyed, of course), thus it, while relatively narrow, fills a gap left by Doom Blade. It will see play in sides because it will come in against black-based creature decks as a direct flip with Doom Blade. Annul makes no sense when there are plenty of cheap spell
options with broader applicability in the format. Essence Scatter stops gods from coming into play but won't sit dead in your hand while the other guy resolves a damn dragon or colossus to stomp you into gristle. Sure, Annul might be useful against a Pants deck, but it still makes more sense to prevent their creatures so they have nothing to hang pants on. The card is there for Limited because Negate and Essence Scatter are in M14 and blue needs a way to play in Draft and Sealed.

Yes - The spell type is "Legendary Enchantment Creature", so anything that counters any of those words will hit them. As far as discard, the same applies to exclusions, so Duress misses. The subtype is God, so anything that interacts with that descriptor also applies. If they're playing such a narrow card, you should be winning. Yes, they're creatures in all zones except the battlefield, and on the battlefield they are NOT creatures unless you have their devotion requirement met. Spells that target creatures on the battlefield can't hit them since they would be illegal targets, (without devotion, that is.) but every other zone only cares about card type, the text on the card is irrelevant.

I thought as much. Thanks, guys.
I wonder if we'll see a black discard spell that only targets creatures like Despise.

Yarpus, are you just bored and trolling? I mean, please feel free to play what you will; but no amount of justification is going to make a really narrow counter anything other than a really narrow counter. The card is in the set for Limited, as are the other reprints that were spoiled with it in the post on Sally. But if you want to side it in against a red or black deck playing 2 copies of a god and 24 other creatures instead of using Essence Scatter or Syncopate, I wish you luck with that.

I'm really afraid of a meta in which Ash Zealot STILL isn't an auto-4 of in red decks.
between the new 3/3 GW dude, the 0/3 dude, the lack of flashback hate being relevant, etc, I'm beginning to worry.
Chandra does seem to be best in a R/W shell? How specifically is hammer+Chandra insane Z? IS it making a 3/3 with haste and pinging their blocker down?
I'd think Chandra's 0 would be even more dicey in "trick heavy" boros charm flips, but last night in using her [in gruul] I literally never had the chance to 0 her as her +1 was always very revelant on board states. Even against control it had gotten to the point where I just wanted to burn him out than dig deeper.
I'm hoping Chandra is also good in just MonoR with firefist striker decks, as well as Dos Rakis of all flavors. Being able to ping thruogh spike jesters as well as have a 5 loyalty buffer (one of the strongest parts of chandra IMO, ESPECIALYL
with thrag gone) for racing in a haste heavy beatdown deck (Exava, hammer, Ceberus) seems strong.

also I thought I had posted from my phone this but I guess not:
Guildgate-> Mountain/shock/swamp Spike jester is still very strong. Spike Jester's potential is still there people. Given the 0/3 defender dude? I think Spike is going to be VERY relevant
I can't count the number of games nuwen's won by just protecting a spike jester against a creature deck with doom blade, dread bores, spears, etc.
And its ALWAYS been insane against control. Every double spike jester that youve been sandbagging after a verdict? Fucking money.
This phrase has been in my head awhile but "T1 play is a guildgate" needs not be overlooked. Instead of playing a subpar 1 drop (foundry street, akroan dude) sidenote: dont see us getting another red 1 drop this theros, sorry- you have guildgates for that part of the curve. Now instead of 8 creature 1 drops you have 4 cacklers, 4 guildgates. The things youre doing after that are
powerful enough I think the tempo loss can be afforded.
AKA: Dont mourn over spike jester just yet

When I ran Guildgates in Dos Rakis, a turn one Guildgate was easy to work around, especially on the draw. And Spike Jester is such a great little beater. Cackler into Jester is still one of the best turn 2 plays.
As for Zealot, she's still the best all around 2-drop in red. Chainwalker has more power, sure, but he's slower. On the play, I'd much rather have Zealot for the haste. And two of them can kill 4-toughness creatures.
The Caryatid is going to be annoying, but it can't attack. What made mana dorks so dangerous was the ability to get a bunch out and then drop a Craterhoof and blitz you for a ton of damage. I hate that the stupid thing has Hexproof, which is my least favorite ability.

Chandra, Pyromaster is a good card in my [mana]RW[/mana] Modern Young Pyromancer deck. She'll always be a 5 loyalty PW if you play her on turn 4. She'll usually live until the next turn and start generating value for you with her 0:
She's going to live even longer in post-rotation Standard, since all the flash/haste dudes are leaving.
