Where did you see this?

For the most part, I'm unimpressed with Dragon's Maze. Not that they needed to impress me or anything, but the design space on this set seems rather weird and feels only tangentially related to the other sets, especially since it was promoted as "OHMIGAWD! Play with ALL TEN GUILDS!" Yet the Guild keywords rarely appear on any of the cards in the set.

There being very few cards with guild keywords did annoy me, but this set certainly did excite me more than GTC, and I can just about guarantee it'll be more fun to draft (because GTC draft is trash).

Not the best I've ever seen, but far from the worst.

Putrefy reprint, but no Mortify reprint? No playable red cards? Wizards is out of touch with players like me I'm afraid. There is nothing I want from this set right now, except perhaps Sin Collector.

Well, looks like WotC banned Second Sunrise for my birthday.

Thanks guys! But how'd you know I didn't like playing against Eggs?

Now this is the story all about how
My life got flipped, turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel-air

In west Philadelphia born and raised
On the playground where I spent most of my days
Chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool
And all shooting some b-ball outside of the school
When a couple of guys, they were up to no good
Started making trouble in my neighbourhood
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
And said "You're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel-air"

I whistled for a cab and when it came near the
License plate said "fresh" and had a dice in the mirror
If anything I could say that this cab was rare
But I thought nah, forget it, yo homes to Bel-air!

I pulled up to a house about seven or eight
And I yelled to the cabby "Yo, homes smell you later!"
Looked at my kingdom I was finally there
To sit on my throne as the prince of Bel-air

Good morning, good night...had to go for groceries after work and now I'm cross-eyed tired. Redthirst, again I wish you much spoilage and lavishing of attention by your wimmens, both of the daughterly and loverly varieties respectively.

Windstrider, thanks again for having the kids and I out this weekend, and don't let me forget to get your Lingering Souls back to you. If you're at all interested in the art show, your company would be welcome. Prerelease fever is starting to set in...

Catch you guys in a few hours...

So as far as the whole spoilers go...

Would it have been too damn much to ask to make the RG druid cost R/G hybrid and be a one drop?

I literally don't see any reason to play him over Gyre sage...

Besides the War Chant, for some reason I'm excited by these not so obvious cards:
"Sorcery
Monocolored creatures can't block this turn.
When the guilds cooperate, the guildless separate their peaceful society. When the guilds clash, the guildless just try to keep out of the way.
Illus. Mathias Kollros #31/166 "

a more expensive Gruul charm but it stops Resto angels, Lingering Souls, AND Thragtusks? If only Reckoner was monored...

I mean its probably bad, but its uses interest me the most. Nightbird's clutches couldn't top resto angels from blocking.

Weapon Surge is probably just worse than dynacharge for All-in-Red.

I'm excited for limited at least

I sure am underwhelmed my the entirety of DGM. Yet...it could have been worse.

I can't say I see too many new tools for the toolbox, though. If anything, the set makes me want to attempt Ux aggro again. -shudders-

Is that the +1/+0 and first strike for R, overload for 1R?

If so, I'm on the fence about it. I think it depends on the number of MB Stonewrights. First Strike is a relevant ability.

oh

wow

I didn't even think of that.

You could swing with stonewright and his buddy into anything and they'd have to think real hard.

might be good new tech in the UWr match-up?

Speaking of which, the 3cmc bounce is one thing, but what about the 3 cmc White fog that gains them life = attacking creatures?

Skullcrack would definitely be in my SB if that happened

First of all, happy birthday to our Glorious Leader.

Won $110 at the casino yesterday. Not baller status or anything, but better than losing.

Also ordered tons of cards last night, so once that all arrives I should be able to create just about any deck I want. Trying to chose from Junk rites, Aristocrats Act 2, or Prime Speaker Bant. Also thinking of Team America midrange, but that seems to be the control deck of choice at my LGS. Also there is an SCG IQ next month I might attend, would be first time going to anything like that so I kind of want to pick a deck and run with it up until that. Only one guy at my LGS is running the Junk Rites deck so I won't get a ton of practice against it.

Go big. Go bold. Go American. Fuck yeah. :eagle:
n
Seriously, though. I'm personally going UWR post-DGM for a while. It looks like it'll be a good match-up for a while to come. It's pretty well positioned against Aggro - which is what the meta generally takes a shift towards after a new set is released.

Also, I don't agree with the Second Surise Ban. Just kind of confirms the fact that modern is not a very great format, legacy is so much better.

So glad that Eggs took a hit to the balls. As a Modern Burn player, Eggs was one of the few decks (if only) that SB's a full set of Leylines and was a one of the few bad match-ups for Burn.

Suck it, Eggs!

Eggs was just one of those decks that wasn't fun to play against and - unless you have a very specific personality - wasn't very fun to play either.

First off, happy birthday to the FoS people who have had recent ones (pyreheart, lorddax, and RT). I'm a bit surprised at the number of April birthdays around here. My birthday was on the 15th (but I tend to keep personal info off of public profiles, so that's why no one knew).

As for DGM, it looks like more fun than GTC, but it doesn't have too much in the way of constructed all-stars.

Still, WotC said they would meet me in the middle and print a mana drain and a morphling variant in the same standard, both with some potential. I feel obligated to make a deck around them. It will be fun until I realize it won't work--but that's several weeks off at least.

Only
one guy at my LGS is running the Junk Rites deck so I won't get a ton of practice against it.
Go big. Go bold. Go American. Fuck yeah. :eagle:

Seriously, though. I'm personally going UWR post-DGM for a while. It looks like it'll be a good match-up for a while to come. It's pretty well positioned against Aggro - which is what the meta generally takes a shift towards after a new set is released.

America, fuck yeah! the deck it might be. Need to look up some lists but at least our bro Kait has something to get me started.
