Also, Kaze, I'm just getting into drinking tea. Part of my plan to change my eating habits, plus the added health benefits. What is a good tea you would suggest for a tea virgin? I've already tried plain black and green tea. Liked them a little better with some honey added. I usually go for something sweet, nothing floral, but I don't want to be adding extra carbs and calories.
A good tea to start off with would be a Chai tea. Chai comes in many varieties from white, Oolong, Rooibos, and herbal infusions; it's naturally sweet from the cinnamon, ginger, clove, and hints of citrus; and it's available pretty much everywhere from high-class tea shops to your local supermarket. White Chais will give you antioxidant support while
Oolong Chais will help with digestion and are a great after-dinner tea. Works quite nicely with a splash of milk, as well. Most people who wonder into my shop as a first-timer usually get sold on it. I'd give it a shot.

Once you're solidly into tea, look into getting it exclusively loose-leaf. You won't be disappointed. :)

Mornin, redbros! Current plan is to depart for FNM in roughly ~4 hours, playing the updated All-In list I posted (read the changes, I'm not doing the white splash that is in the decklist). This all hinges on me finding a set of Cacklers, which have all somehow disappeared.
@Kaze: I swear, we're soulmates. I too play blues guitar and love tea. Will you have my children? I'm sure your fiancee would be ok with it. She can have your babies, you can have mine, and everybody's smiling.
Somehow I think physiology won't allow this plan to work. But, we can always try, yes?
;-)
That's the right attitude.

good afternoon.

Lazy day at work today. A buddy and I are headed to Providence tomorrow for a TCGplayer event. Why not. We're basically tweaking decks during work. Gotta love it.

Then my wife is dragging me to Boston Ballet's rendition of Sleeping Beauty on Sunday. Ughh...

redthirst's weekend seems more fun.

Sup dudes! It's Friday, which means everyone at the office is scared about who will get laid off next. Delightful :)

Day 55 of the challenge, almost to 60 like a gorram boss.

Yeah, for the last year, management has been thinning the ranks on Fridays.

I'm fairly safe because I'm a mid-level grunt. It would cost more to fire me and train my replacement for 2 years. Still, I hate the feeling of the sword hanging over my head.

That's never a good feeling.

Feels good to hold the sword though.

So, I just won my local store FNM and I'm REALLY disappointed.
Every friday I have to run like hell because I'm allowed to leave work no sooner that 17 o' clock, which is EXACTLY when the FNM starts somewhere else - I ride my bike to the store in 5-10 minutes (it depends mostrly on pedestrians and traffic lights), and often it ends with the shop owner telling me that the first game has already started, but I'm still free to register for the following matches.

Today I managed to get there on time, just to be paired with a *BYE*.
On the second game I hilariously won 2-1 against a Rakdos zombie deck by missing forever my fourth land drop on the first game, then seeing him play T1: Swamp - Crawler, T2: Dragonskull Summit - Double Crawler, T3+: Land - go. The last game was a little more senseful, and I've ended up winning the turn after Traitorous Blooding a Falkenrath Aristocrat.
On the last game I went 2-0 against a BUG-
don't-know-what who was just very aggroable.

I'm disappointed because there were a couple of good decks (a UWR Flash and a Junk Reanimator) that I actually wanted to face, but when you're playing a 11 men tournament you end up winning without any kind of effort.

I'm actually thinking on moving to MTGO, what can you tell me about it? :\

My usual RDW:
4 nobles - 4 cacklers - 4 maulers - 4 zealots - 4 reckoners - 4 hellriders - 3 wolves - 2 stonewrights - 2 pillars - 4 spears - 2 volleys and 23 mountains.

I actually wanted to test the All-In Red, but I lacked the Lealists so trying something like that whouldn't have had much sense (on a side note: is this written in proper english, at least?).

@Red: All you have to do is say "made" instead of "had." I don't think that "had" is legitimately wrong, it just isn't commonly used. Sounds good, I just finished getting All-In Red together.

@Kaze: You're welcome.

I really need to move over to MTGO but I hate paying for this shit twice (fuck I hate paying for it once) and I'm a big fan of playing things where you can smack a bitch if they get out of line. Most people on MTGO are fine but some are dicks.

Thanks, my english is quite rusty and I really hate when I can't come up with a straight sentence :|
I'm actually thinking on moving to MTGO, what can you tell me about it? :

Well, for example I play go
(or rather: used to) and I really HATE playing online.
I guess I just have to try that way sooner or later, though.

Well, that's an interesting point as well, but I don't of it as the main problem.

Yay for Go players! Anyone else here play?

I'm very amateur. I have a strong game on 9x9 boards, decent on 13x13, and it all goes to shit on a full board. I'd love to learn more though, it's hard to balance all the hobbies.

Yeah, having multiple hobbies is really time consuming and usually prevents you from becoming good at any of them.
Unless you've got discipline and lots of free time - but I'm very lacking under both categories :D

Haha, we had a Go club in high school, and I played well into college as well. I was always pretty good, but I stopped playing when I started working at Disney because I moved into a new group of friends that mostly just wanted to play Magic.

I still play every once in a great while, but I'm a much more avid chess player now.

I suffer from a hummingbird-like tendency to adopt too many hobbies and jump between a small set of them constantly. It means that I know an awful lot about an awful lot, but I frequently have to spend a few weeks getting back into the groove of an old hobby (playing guitar for example) before I feel competent again.

Absolutely! Is this blowout safely away from the general population and anything combustible, or should the clan start taking up a fund to rebuild? I mean, star red mage turning 25...the heat coming off you alone could be dangerous. ;-)

Have a great time, James, and know that we will be lifting a glass in your honor!

Man, we really are brothers...you just described me perfectly! I am a totally hobby-driven person, and I carry around all manner of trivia that just chooses to easily sit in my head. I REALLY would like to know why I can remember lyrics to thousands of songs but could never do the same with, say, organic chemistry. I guess I got the wrong flavor of hard drives installed in my head...

BTW...it's Friday--challenge report! I weighed in at 222 this morning--a 5-pound drop from last week! I'm stoked, because I've been too busy to do anything other than eat right and I'm still tracking well. I'm hoping now that the kids' activities are winding down for the school year, I can get more active and get up to my target loss of 1 pound/day. Not complaining by any means, but I'm motivated at this point and would love to be close to 200 by my birthday.

My son and I were going to do FNM tonight, but I
got about 4 hours sleep last night and can hardly focus. We have to get up in the morning and drive 150 miles for drumline championships anyway and will be getting back around 1AM, so I can't justify being out into the wee hours of Saturday morning (our FNM will likely hit 6 rounds).

@SM - I second Kaze's recommendation for chai...I love the stuff. As a starter blend, I've found Celestial Seasonings to be about the best of the supermarket-level brands. The decaf Thai-style chai they have is particularly tasty with a shot of cream and some Splenda (or honey). I don't like Tazo's chai quite as well. Iced chai--especially with a decent shot of skim milk and sweetener--is also yummy. And the more tea I drink, the less I tend to eat!

Best of luck to all our brothers who are hitting FNM tonight--burn em out, guys!

I'd like to publically thank Jerry (photodyer) for contributing to the "make ham a coffee drinker" project. He offered to mail me a spare French press, but then surprised me by going the extra mile and including a bean grinder, a sample of some local favorites, and a handwritten note.
