Is it just me, or are there some really off-the-path decks in that top 8? I'm happy to see Rx rockin', but that is a really different top 8.

Also, Z, I had run to the window with my phone to check out your pic (huge concrete building...reception is laughable). Very nice! But IMO the first pic you ever posted is classic...the original "Wolf Girl" in a simply stunning photo. You need to sticky it somewhere over here for sake of reference.

Thank you, sir! The framing of her face, the contrast and texture--it all works. It needs cropped tighter to pull out the background distraction and bring the leading lines to her eyes, but that shot is one in a million. I cropped it in on my phone and showed a co-worker with no context given and the first words out of his mouth were "fashion magazine shoot". If you would like the image worked up for framing sometime, let me know and send me the full-res file.

I can believe iphone, but I am amazed that it's a self shot simply because of the smile and focus in her eyes and the easy nature of her expression. That is rare in a self-portrait because we're usually so focused on the mechanics of taking the pic that our faces do funny things. Seriously, that shot deserves desk or wall space.

You can look back to the beginning of the first (archived) clan thread...many of us posted pics and you can easily tell Z after seeing the pic he posted.

Gotta head for home, but it would make sense to have it here in the clan area. Should it be "read only" for non clan members or just an open thread? I'll be back on in a while.

I'd say put it in the restricted area. I'm thinking this will ultimately be the sub for new member info, questions, and to apply for membership. Anything else should go in the main clan sub.

Her smile really sells that picture. It animates her whole face.

'morning, gents.

I spent part of the day yesterday grading some of the worst essays I have ever had the misfortune of seeing. No APA formatting, grammer mistakes everywhere, and most of them can't properly use in-text citations or format their References pages. And this is Comp 2. :o I was not kind with my comments.

About halfway through I opened a bottle of Riesling, and it made it much more tolerable.

They're turning in their first major essay. I anticipate handing several of them back for revision. Why are bad writing skills considered to be acceptable? This is
absolutely intolerable.

I like this idea a lot. Place it in the restricted area. We have to be responsible with our awesomeness. :evillol:

Morning folks! I am definitely a fan of waking up to pics of Z's lovely lady ;) Does make one rather jealous though. Oh, vicarious living!

I'd agree that pics go in a restricted area. My internet stealth has become more and more important to me recently; deleting FB, etc.

@windstrider: So how do you feel about proofreading a literature essay? :D I have a 10-pager due for my 224 class some time in the next couple of weeks. Something tells me half of those students you were grading had an easier time of it... ;-)

Unfortunately windstrider, I am cheap, but thanks anyway :)

Life advice: I need an efficient, healthy, high-calorie food. I have the issue of only getting like 1500 calories a day, if that, simply because I just don't eat very much. Recommendations?

@photo - thanks, buddy. I'm going to keep trying to be the best me that I can be. Apparently, the two things that were negatively affecting our relationship were (1) my excessive drinking and (2) putting MTG before her.

@Dane - for her, yes. She's mentioned to me numerous times about wanting to invite a couple over or bringing another dude into the bedroom (and in turn, she would find a lady to bring home for me). When we talked about our sexual history, she told me that the only thing she hasn't tried was having two guys at once or a couple swapping thing. Personally, I've never had two chicks at the same time before so my fingers are crossed on her making that happen. I always told her that if anything like that would happen, it would definitely
involve booze and somebody that I knew pretty well (since I would definitely need to know if this person was (A) clean and (B) mature enough to handle this sort of thing). I have to say, I've never seen her this happy and weirdly enough, I think it has only made our relationship stronger.

@Z - I'm unable to block right now and completely helpless.

Nice!
Good stuff, man. Just make sure to keep jealousy out of it, and only do...things that work for both of you, mentally. Cross either of those lines (like feeling obligated to do x, y, or z) and things can start to fall apart.

I think I will build the thread in the restricted area that is "read only" for non-clan members but viewable to all as the "private" area is actually Tier 3+.

Good morning.

So, Stonewright and Volcanic Strength back in Dos Rakis? If we have to make each individual creature count for more, that should work nicely. Strength gets a lot of creatures out of easy burn range too.

When does Exalted trigger? Is it during the declare attackers step or the actual combat step? From the rules, it looks like it triggers when attackers are declared.

FFS.

I'll have to check this out...

And out of curiosity, do the bannings mean that people won't be able to remove their previously posted content as planned?

Man...VD. I already know I'm going to have to be working this issue over tomorrow night in playtest group. One of the guys who hasn't come for the past two weeks was showing me his "aggro" deck on Fri night. I believe I already mentioned it...VD and Mayor. When I tried explaining VD to him, he's all "Well, yeah, in an ideal situation, I'll drop a noble T1, attack with it T2, THEN drop VD." (dumbfounded expression
from me) "No...you see, it doesn't matter WHICH turn it's on..."

You don't understand, Dane.

Dropping VD on turn 2 gives your opponent more time to make it a completely blank card instead of just a mostly irrelevant one.

Don't think about it too hard. It makes sense.

That's assuming the average person is willing to learn from their mistakes. He was talking to me on Fri, and saying "I just don't get it...it was creaming everything I playtested against, but tonight, in the paid tournament, I just can't do a THING."

Now, understand, this LGS has traditionally had a free FNM. About 3 weeks ago, they started running two concurrently, one paid, for prizes, one free. This guy is one of the better players there, so it's no shock he'd gravitate towards the paid tournament, in the hopes of picking up prizes. He also tends to play controlly decks, but seems to have gotten the
idea that Esper Control, especially his particular flavor of it is not well placed currently. He also acknowledges that he really doesn't play aggro, so he doesn't know what he's doing. What he DOESN'T seem to get is, maybe, just MAYBE he should listen to advice from someone who has kicked his teeth in with aggro decks before...y'know, like me?

Don't argue. You can explain your thoughts for inclusion. That I understand. Explain away, but don't argue. Just modify your list...

Okay, brothers--Rogue's Gallery thread is up in the restricted area. Grab a post slot and add stuff as you get time! And if anyone wants to suggest a more original name for the thread, bring it to the table!

For now, though, I must get some sleep. Check back in with you gents tonight!

Degenerate? Sure. Loudmouth? You bet. Law abiding? No ****ing way.

Great guy to have around? Hell yes.

I can't see any of the competitive subforums on MTGS. What happened? My subscription to R/x sligh, Gruul sligh, etc are all gone.

April Fools or something?

That was my thought, Valdarith, or that they cut it off to people who aren't logged in (like me.)

If you ARE logged in though, eliminates THAT possibility.

I'm just amazed by how dumb you can consistently pretend to be.

I'm definitely logged in because I actually went to view the recent posts in the R/x sligh thread and was successful. I then went to look at the R/x subforum for posts on this Vexing Devil topic and it said I did not have permission. Then I looked in the Competitive subforum and all of the archetypes are gone.
