when i run basics in legacy and vintage i use white borders. my ABUR duals are all revised so I want all my fetch-able lands to have white borders. It's an expediency thing.

My current take on Mardu Warriors:
[deck]
Creatures - 24
4 Bloodsoaked Champion
4 Tormented Hero
4 Chief of the Edge
4 War-Name Aspirant
4 Goblin Rabblemaster
4 Butcher of the Horde
Spells - 13
1 Sorin, Solemn Visitor (or Mardu Ascendancy)
4 Gods Willing
2 Hero's Downfall
2 Crackling Doom
3 Mardu Charm
1 Murderous Cut
Land - 23
23 Mardu Lands, still need to find out the right mix
[/deck]
I decided to top the curve off at Butcher. Originally I wanted Stormbreath, but Butcher is just as much a finisher. However, it doesn't have the innate protection that Dragon has. A few charms and Stoke can all hit Butcher, so I wanted a way to protect him. Enter Gods Willing. Rabblemaster can also take over the game, so I like the playset of Gods Willing here to push through with.

I was going to suggest [card]Ajani's Presence[/card] or Ephemeral Shields instead of Gods Willing, but I can see the point of the later as well.
Like the list though, I will probably try something similar myself.

DDR Ver 1
Throwing this Mardu list out there. Mainly want to play Rabblemaster, Butcher, and Stormbreath this season:
[deck]DDR aka Dragon Demon Rabblemaster[/deck]
Spell options definitely needs work. Goblin Rabblemaster and Brimaz function as Armies in a can with both being able to close out the game. Bloodsoaked Champion and Murder King function as reusable sac fodder for the butcher and Murder King is also a source of damage. Sarkhan is there to try out but quite possibly not needed and could be replaced with Elspeth.
The more I look at new standard it is becoming clear that in
order to play any sort of viable aggro the first question you have to ask yourself "Can you beat Caryatid/Courser Combo?" I don't think I have found an aggro list in this new midrange standard that can do that without folding to other things.

Didn't think about Ajani's Presence. That may be better, though in a pinch Gods Willing can make something unblockable now that there's no Mutavault. I'll have to try out all of these similar effects, but I do think I want some of it in the deck.

The new set also has Feat of Resistence. Costs [mana]W[/mana][mana]1[/mana] and gives a creature color protection and a +1/+1 counter at instant speed also.I was going to suggest [card]Ajani's Presence[/card] or Ephemeral Shields instead of Gods Willing, but I can see the point of the later as well.

I think it depends on how much we see each of Bile Blight and End Hostilities in the new format.

does anybody else actually kinda like Ankle Shanker? First Strike + Deathtouch is very good. I think the only card we'd seen that on was Master of Cruelties which didn't see any play. And 5CMC is huge. But this would really get you through board stalls. Maybe 1 or 2 in the SB against decks that clog the board?

Additionally, what are we really using a Sac outlet for? None of our creatures benefit from BEING sacrificed. Bloodsoaked Champion just comes back, but you don't profit from him dying. Tymaret provides some reach, but so does Gods Willing, which I already want to play to protect Butcher and Rabblemaster.Tymaret and War-Name are vying for the same spot, so playtesting will tell which is better. No murder king? War-Name solves the Caryatid problem but Murder King gives reach. I really like your list though and will probably be doing something along those lines.
Ankleshanker could disrupt boardstalls but looks like a worse Legion Loyalist.

Ankle shanker reminds me of zealots conscripts in a way. It has a dorky body, but It's ability and haste can just blow up boards.
Obviously not nearly as powerful, but It's one of the fives I intends to test. There are like six different viable five drops and they all excel at different things.

You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.
Beatdown is hard, though.

I agree but giving your entire army first strike plus deathtouch is too enticing not to test. At worst it's a 2/2 haste first strike deathtouch (he gives himself the boost when he attacks). First strike and deathtouch likely sound more like defensive abilities and this won't help if you don't turn it sideways, but you want to stay aggressive anyway and this will either clear a board or push through damage. Glad I'm not the only one who wants to test it out.not every card with haste is viable.

Speaking of Jeskai, I have been working on a midrange/control build. This is a very rough draft while I work on a framework.
[deck]
Planeswalkers
3 Elspeth, Sun's Champion
2 Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker
Creatures
4 Nyx-Fleece Ram
4 Mantis Rider
2 Clever Impersonator
1 Keranos, God of Storms
Spells
3 Dissolve
2 Mindswipe
4 Banishing LIght
3 Jeskai Charm
4 Font of Fortunes
3 Aetherspouts
Lands
4 Mystic Monastery
4 Temple of Enlightenment
4 Temple of Epiphany
2 Temple of Triumph
4 Shivan Reef
4 Battlefield Forge
2 Island
1 Plains
Sideboard
3 Deflecting Palm
3 Negate
3 Anger of the Gods
3 Magma Spray
3 End Hostilities
[/deck]
Wescoe also posted a reasonable looking Counterburn deck that might work with some tweaking. Counterburn is one of my favorite archetypes so I might give that a try.

Pretty similar to where I'm at, but I think you probably want raider's spoils and a 24th land.

I like it as a one-of catch-all. But between Mardu Charm and Crackling Doom a Mardu deck probably has everythign covered. How about Utter End?
@LD: been thinking of spoils and another land too. Will play around with it. Thanks!
