Force of Will? Wizard is doing its part in appeasing the grinders after a fair number of the left (idiots).

POTYR should update daily, you should pop up sometime tomorrow unless someone else pushes you back down...

@Z: your welcome to play Robots (LP never seems to log-on....) I'll most likely go with Burn or UR Delver depending on when I can offload my boosters....

BlakLanner, Ham and/or Z post some SB'ing wisdom in the Modern Burn thread please (I feel like I'm just bouncing ideas at the wall or Mirror which isn't very productive).

@ham/mdu/z I'd love to do modern, but I've never played a single game of it and have no cards on MTGO. I have a decent amount of paper cards for it, but none online. IDK that I can afford to pick up a deck for the prelims -- I'd love to at least attempt to grind out a bunch of games before the prelims with a deck so I at least can attempt to compete, but IDK that I can swing it financially. Maybe if I can monetize #toddlersntop8s ......

I have a Robot deck (I ****ing hate the day I finished the deck, free money not well spent) which I'm not playing - I'm still waiting on Z or LP if they want to grab it or not (since I don't think they have Modern decks either).

In this Online Clan I only ever seen Ham, Lazer, Pedros and myself run modern games....

I'll play anything just to at least attempt the prelims haha. Obviously if they want to use it by all means, but if not I'd love to at least play games in the format so that I can make a valiant effort at making a run for it, lol. Let me know!

Will you guys be playing in the prelims? If Modern is new to you, what deck are you going to run?
Burn. Since i don't play modern (yet), that's all I have. I like'em crispy.

One of the local guys (Dominik Prosek) did pretty well with the burn at the last PT (ended 19th). He may smell of pot everytime I see him standing in front of stores, but he knows his game, so why the hell not. I also very fondly remeber my 7th (or 6th or 8th, whatever) edition Burn deck with Ensnaring Bridges and Grim(m) Lavamancers so that's a soft spot!

I actually jumped in that 8-man with you this morning. Lost 1st round to Orzhov Control. He played 3 Blood Barons in 5 turns. (I took care of the first 2, but ran out of steam on the last). Had him down to 1 life on game 3 (and that's only because he Devour Fleshed a Pack Rat for 1 life). So frustrating.

Indeed :)

Is your MTGO handle the same? I haven't come across any DTR guys in the queues yet, but I'll keep an eye out.

I ended up falling to the UW player.

I got some great testing in against UR Pyro and UWR Control in the Modern 8man though.

Feeling good about the deck, I just have to qualify for this fucker so it can deliver.

Yup . . . it's also "montu" online.

Last time I jumped in with a DTR guy it was Z, and lost to him. :)

@Pedros or/and J_K: Don't the potyr update daily or was it fortnightly? I do see my rating move throughout the week so I know its not weekly.

I think it's daily. Have it open on my Firefox tab and refresh it once a day : voilà, it updates. Have no idea why zem isn't there y yet. Maybe even WotC are afraid of him Boros charming them? :)

Crushed lsv in 8man today. lost round two to triple mow. Whatever, another scalp!

Also had one opp in daily misclick and HDF his own pack rat. I'll take the free wins.

That is what I thought as well, with Z's 83+ QP he should be on the ladder, the only thing different between Z and us 3 is that we've played many more MOCS and Championships.
Crushed lsv in 8man today.
I've only played LSV twice and both times I crushed him because he had really really poor draws (but he is a good sport).

I think they update whole ladder (adding more people to it) every season, but update people on it daily. It then does not stress out the servers to make daily scan (remember to scan whole database of 3 milion people takes some time even with most efficent query).

I think they add people that qualified to mocs to a ladder as there is no point of asding otherwise.

Today finally have some time, will tey to get last point k:-) , dunno if going to 50 is real in my limited time frame. If I play on mtgo then I am in 3 different queues to play more so can grind more points (last time played 3-1 daily loosing to calisto dancer, 2-1 loosing to lazer with his turn 2 firedamcer twice and 3-0 in other daily. I beat Sam Pardee there but didnt play optimal and e corrected me after game to make me better . He is g8 guy)

That actually make lots of sense, I mean you and J_K in my pov just appeared on the ladder from no where.

Good Luck with hitting 35, don't forget FoW is next (its like wizard is just tossing money at us grinders).

This site is a work in progress, don't you know
Due to my ignorance I'm not really sure where the site is heading or what resources are available, or even whose site this actually is but this article that Lordax linked to on the FoS thread gave me a vision of a worthy destination that I thought I'd share. I may already be preaching to the converted in which case disregard the rest of this post :)

In case I'm not here's why I think that serious strategic articles are the way forward -

Unique content - no other sites (bar Zem's stuff on CFB and that seems more
by accident than design, on the part of CFB, not Zem) have this. They have name players who make poor quality content and don't share the insights into the games that they undoubtedly have. Instead we are subjected to monotonous uncharismatic droning or unfunny 'banter'.

Popularity - Zem's stuff is way more popular than the aforementioned bad content from good players

Resources - we have players here who are capable of generating this type of content for both Constructed and Limited formats

Personal preference - I'd love their to be a site dedicated to serious competitive MTG without budjcaj crap cluttering the place up - I imagine a place with the definitive Primers for decks complete with match up guides and SB plans in the eternal formats and constantly updated Primers for the rotating and Limited formats

I'd also make it a subscription only site, like an exclusive private members club. Think quality not quantity. It would very soon become renown as the best MTG site IMHO

Thoughts on Random Disgusting Brew:

[deck]Jund Hexproof[/deck]

General idea, Sylvan Caryatid defends your other creatures from Devour Flesh better then Voice while allowing you to run more expensive spells like Eidolon of Countless Battles.

Discard helps deals with the worlds problems, Orzhov Charm while not as awesome as Boros Charm is much better as a support spell.

Even if it wasn't incredibly involved to set up a paid subscription, I wouldn't want to do it. The worst thing about SCG is their ridiculous "premium" content, which says a lot because they're actively killing constructed.
What do you mean by 'actively killing constructed'?
