Maybe he isn't terrible, but he'll be hard-pressed to find a home where the deck wouldn't be better without him.

Green CA...rather expensive and risky, but huge in Limited I would expect:

Regardless of card quality, I LOVE the art on both of these:

In fact, I just emailed Dan Scott to congratulate him on the Astronomer and to ask when I could get a print...it's going in the same room with Ponder and Evacuation.

tribute is so shitty

oracle is deceiving in its lameness. red has so few powerful non-creature spells right now. free mortars or lightning strike? okay.

Oracle still keeps haste with tribute being paid for and if not let's you get a free burn in. Better in burn heavy list. Walter White and Boros Burn come to mind.

Free mortars like burning-tree didn't already do that. I get that it's a mintoar so theoretically it's a 4/2 haste for 3 in certain worlds...but that's just a minotaur skullcleaver.

Gold tokens?!!? Weird.

Oracle could be a 5/3 haste for 4 or a 3/1 haste and a free spell (assuming you have a spell). creates a little subgame with the opponent.

Finally feeling standard burnout. Mostly cause I want to play UB control, but don't feel like switching decks seeing as RW devotion is the bread earner. Guess I'll practice modern instead since there's talk of multiple people I know flying to effing Richmond for the GP.

Greek mithology trope. King Midas was greedy as fuck, which is why he was cursed by gods with "everything you'll touch willl turn gold".
Yes, everything.

Most probably a creature with first strike and "when x deals combat damage to another creature, exile it and put a gold token under opponent's control".

We can sideline the artifact UB control for now. Just a bit too clunky against world class players (Isaac has a PT Top 8 and a GP win). After discussion, the deck is lacking early filtering to help assemble the pieces quickly enough; this is a fairly obvious oversight as previous versions of UB Control had Preordain / Spreading Seas or Ponder / Think Twice. There's no way to get that consistency early right now.

UW has Azorius Charm so I'm leaning that way right now; the deck doesn't seem to have got much from BNG (aside from an improved mana base, which is of course a big game) but I've played with it a bunch and like it.

Probably still leaning mono U at this point; though ill be doing the obligatory "brew every reasonable aggro deck I can think of" frenzy that I always enjoy.

Black aggro seems a little better than red aggro. Dos Rakis is interesting, but these aren't the days of Lavaclaw Reaches;
manlands are amazing but they're very demanding on an aggro deck's manabase.

If there's not a lot of aggro at any point in the season, black aggro with maindeck UC is a proven winner; I had huge success with that last year.

World of possibilities.

I'm still holding out on a good 1 or 2 drop red creature this set.
Firedrinker Satyr
Foundry Street Denizen
Legion Loyalist
Rakdos Cackler

The problem isn't our 1 drops, they're amazing. The problem is mono U maindecks 16 hate cards (Frostburn Weird, Master of Waves, Nightveil Spectre, Tidebinder Mage).

That's why black aggro is interesting; you sidestep most of thise issues.
