MonoB with Drown in Sorrow and Bile Blight can be called Aggro Fucker now. After SB, their Aggro matchup can be disgustingly good now as they can replace Doom Blades with much more effective removal/sweep.
Blue Devotion counterspell is playable in devo decks. Even with T1 Cloudfin/Familiar you still do have a tempo counter enough to play the game.
Searing Blood is cool and playable - but imo there are too many 3CMC creatures to stick it into Aggro's main. Big Red's SB against Aggro?
Xenagos is mostly playable in RG ramp, Fate's boner will destroy the universe I guess.
Karametra sucks a dick.

What are the reasons to not play Mono B in Standard now, except from "fuck standard"? It doesn't have the best Control matchup I think, so any kind of additional disruption would be welcome. But yeah, playing Mono B against Aggro will most probably be a well-placed kick straight in the utherus.

Oh, and I'm still not sure if Searing Blood can compete with Magma Jet. SB has stronger effect, but much less flexxibility. I know there are Mutavaults to kill in every deck, but meh. MJ is always good. ALWAYS.
Bant might be cool. Caryatid into Kiora into Elspeth? Living the dream yo.

Yay new sigs!

Boo Karametra! Not even sure about the usual bad card chorus of "might be good/fun in commander"

Trying to figure out thassa's rebuff. It seems like how much you'd want it is inversely proportional to how effective it will be.

I like searing vaginal discharge, I mean searing blood, but it seems like it might get boarded out a lot. Really wish it was a common, would be bonkers in pauper. Before I condemn my mono red deck to disassembling I will give it a try.

Still interested in satyr nyx-smith, I think he might have some legs, and is the main reason I am even planning on going forward with my mono red deck. As I stated earlier he builds board position while letting you stockpile some cards, and thanks to haste you can get the one swing in to ensure that they either play the sweeper or let you start building.

You pay 3 mana to have fun swinging 2/1.
I think you could die, if you'd heard about existence of Pyrewild Shaman not to mention Boros Reckoner and Chandra's Phoenix.

New format is gonna be terrible if we took the set as is.

I really need some other format warping stuff to be spoiled.

Tsk tsk,
Already running phoenix.
Already have reckoner in the board.
Pyrewild shaman is sometimes a one of main deck (competes with a second hammer of purphoros).

And yes his initial impact is
less than I'd like for it to be, and the single devotion is less than ideal (I never thought I'd complain about a thing not being double costed), but it's hasty and brings friends to the party, and serves as a mana sink, which is definitely something I can use.

Searing is sb material vs aggro. I love how it makes the "who´s the beatdown?" question even more relevant.

Pain Seer and Nyx-Smith incoming. Which do you answer? I think he has potential in Rakdos aggro with all the Haste around. Target saturation ftw.

Xenagos is a beast, but his buddies still dies to removal. There might be a rise in Shock again as everyone and their mother will want to ramp into him.

UB control looks...doubtful when looking at Mogis. Eat 2 per turn and hope your Aetherling is the faster clock? G'luck with that.

WOW! Sweet sigs abound! You gents are looking mighty spiffy...I feel like I'm wearing yesterday's underwear around here.

Am I missing something, or is RG Monsters looking really strong as the creature deck of choice? Xenagos + GCR or any of the creature-churning cards seems pretty strong. Xenagos PW spawning satyrs while Xenagos god pumps them, or god + hammer? Xenagos + phoenix? Pyrewild? Stormbreath? Kalonian Hydra? Quite a few options, it seems. And to boot, green can now shuffle other players gods back into said players decks post-board (Unravel the Aether).

James, methinks you are walking the right path...as much as I want BR to be playable control, UB has a better range of answers for gods and the like. Black could use another exile card like Sever, though I doubt we will see it in this set as black is already looking quite strong. Without a way to deal with a resolved god, BR has an issue (recognizing
that it can still deal with pumped monsters, however).

Off to bed with me...late night with the lady, one too many beers, getting up in 2 hours to wake kids and brother windstrider and his beloved should be welcoming a brand-new dude by end of day. Woo hoo!

Hero of Ioras makes me thing about some kind of cheap aura deck. BW Heroic?
I hope it decreases the price of Bestow, as Nighthowler just got his new fav drinking buddy.
Or finally, UW HEROIC bitchez. This deck has potential to be Tier 1 if Wizards will print something broken enough.

Fabled Hero, Battlewise Hoplite, Fate Foretold, Artisan of Forms (1-2), Gift of Immortality (1-2) could be really nice. Hero of Ioras makes this kind of play possible.
These are all good cards, that coupled with some strong uncommons could really be a good deck.

U/x control

B/x control

R/G monsters

...and that's it?

Maybe karameta ramps you intro some cool shit.

Pay 1 mana more, and play double-dicks.

Certain about:
- UB Control: Aetherling or planeswalker based, I counter/kill/discard everything Control.
- UW Control: stronger against tempo decks due to Verdict being uncounterable and having access to Sphinx's Revelation. Doesn't like Toughtseize.
- Naya Aggro/Midrange: why choose between Loxodon Smiter and Fanatic of Xenagos when you can play both. Sad it doesn't have manabase good enough to support full-Zoo. Can be also broken into GW and GR.
- Mono B Devotion: it was already a Tier 1 deck, and with recent additions it can annihilate small aggros. Going through Drown in Sorrow, Bile Blight and Desecration Demon might be fucking far too much. Midrange matchup should be fine if it's not too explosive to handle it with 1-target removal. Control will depend on new cards I guess.
- Mono U Devotion: playing all the right cards. Deck is fine now, and can only get
better.

Possible Decks:
- Dimir Tempo: deck that can abuse Pain Seer as it's main draw engine. Depends on Wizards printing some kind of undercosted beater.
- Rakdos Aggro: cardpool for this deck is amazing. Cackler, Satyr, Zealot, Spike Jester, BurgerKing, Phoenix, Reckoner, Keyrune, Exava, Cerberus, Stormbreath. I expect this deck to evolve into DarkHammer due to large hate on small Aggro.
- Azorius Heroic: if we'll get anything broken enough to invest into heroic basket - it's gonna hurt. There's huge amount of great, supportish cards for this archetype. It's an aggro deck with toolbox effects available. Oh, and it desperately needs SOMETHING to actually fight Control.
- Bant Control: Caryatids, Kiora, Jace, Elspeth, SPhinx's Revelation formula should work. It could actually go for the midrange plan with Master Biomancer and stuff.
