I have the same at times with 23 lands, can be frustrating. And the odds of hitting 2+ lands after the first mull are "only" 75%, which still make one in four mulligans a double mull... with 25 lands its at least only 1 in 5...Mulliganed into oblivion / manascrewed every game. This deck angers the red gods. Back to big boros !

six. You have to ask yourself if the average 5 card hand is better than your six. The answer is no with this deck a lot of the time. It doesn't mulligan well.

Sorry IThis one, where we like to partyWhat thread does that belong in?
Just messin. Appreciate the best wishes, but this is the competitive thread and freedom is right. That sort of stuff belongs in the clan thread.
didn't read the rules. It will not happen again.
I think that can thread it's only for members, I didn't know that everyone can post in that thread.
------
P.S. - About Firemane Avenger, I play against a Boros deck with FA and [card]Legion's Initiative[/card] that makes the avenger a 4/4 but it NEVER attack me. I kill it every time it was cast. I rather prefer another card in the 4 drop spot.

Pretty much just start posting in the clan thread and state your interest to join. If you do, I'm sure Redthirst will put you on the list. What we have to do to become member of the clan? It's cool Am. More importantly, why are you not a member of the clan? You seem to like mountains
Thanks to NerdBoyWonder for the amazing sig!

After my final tests I choose playing Walter White list insttead of Pyrodragons in tomorrow PTQ. I hope it's the correct choice for me tomorrow
I don't know yet if I play the usual 75 or if I put 2 Peak Eruption in sideboard, maybe at the place of the Act of Treason.

Amen to that. Or Awomen. Whatevs. Bottom line is this: we're all filthy Red Mages in the FoS.Unless he wants to be a woman. His choice really.
And now back to the regularly scheduled thread topic.
In a pinch, Khaos' beard can help turn this around.
I rarely skip a Khaospawn wall of text because I know there is always piss at the end of the rainbow.

And once more into the breach
Today's list
Went 3-1 beating MonoU 2-1 and 2-1 Burn 2-0 and losing to BW Control 1-2 - pure variance in the last game.
Really happy with the list
EDIT Went 2-1 split last Round beating BG Devo 2-0, B Devo 2-0 and losing to Esper Midrange 1-2 - I'd forgotten how soul destroying Ghost Dad and Whip were, made me start looking for SB slots for Glare Of Heresy

So I decided to give this deck a run this week in preparation for my PTQ tomorrow (or technically today since it's past midnight). I took MagicDownUnder's list and ran it at FNM tonight. I went 3-1 losing to R/W Devotion. Here is a quick summary of my matches.
Round 1- Bobby- W/G Devotion
Game 1- His deck played like a GW Aggro deck when he played Fleecemane Lion on turn 2. My combination of double Cacklers, Chandra's Phoenix, and Selfie caused him to scoop after he tried to play an Elspeth of turn 5 and realized he couldn't.
Game 2- This one is a bit vague but the key play was a Last Breath on my Chandra's Phoenix. He eventually resolved both Heliod and Elspeth before killing me with tokens and Collective Blessing.
Game 3- This was one of the most interesting games because of a subtle interaction with a card I was on the fence about, Legion's Initiative. Turn 3 comes and I have a Legion's Initiative and Chandra'
s Phoenix in hand. I scryed and kept a Selfie on top. I played the Initiative turn 3 and passed. Turn 4 and I play the Selfie I drew. My opponent looks at the card and says "That's a 2/3?" I reply that it is a 3/3 which elicits a sigh from my opponent. That signaled to me that he had a Last Breath in hand. I proceed to run out my Phoenix next turn and ride them plus burn to the win.
1-0 (2-1)
Round 2- Jonah- Grixis Control
Game 1- I see that he is playing many tapped lands and doesn't appear to have any sweepers so I run out as many creatures as I can. I get him down to 7 before he plays a Jace and pluses it. I ignore the Jace and swing for 4 with my Mutavault, Cacklers and Phoenix. He minus Jace, finds Rakdos's Return, Jace, and Dissolve and scoops.
Game 2- I wasn't sure about his deck so I SBed out 2 Chained to the Rocks for 2 Boros Charms (which turned out to be wrong and you will see why). I land a Turn 3 YP$ with Shock in hand. He plays a Turn 4 Desecration Demon and I am
immediately regretting my sideboard choices. I Shock him end of turn to get a token, draw and pass. I sacrifice the token to tap the Demon and he plays Ashiok, +2's and hits Satyr, Phoenix, and Cackler. He passes. I end of turn Lightning Strike the Ashiok and next turn swing with my creatures into the Ashiok. He Doom Blades the YP$ and I Boros Charm in response to kill Ashiok. His turn I sacrifice the token to tap Demon and he passes. I draw my second Mortars, attack with the Pyromancer (should have double Mortars the Demon precombat) and he Hero's Downfalls the Pyromancer. I then double Mortars the Demon and pass. From then on he flooded out and I drew runner runner Phoenix to take him down.
2-0 (4-1)
Round 3- Ari- RUG Slivers
This match was unfortunate for Ari, his slivers ate every piece of removal in my deck and he flooded in Game 1. Game 2 he mulled to 5 and kept a 4 land, 1 sliver hand that I promptly killed. He proceeded to draw 6 lands in a row.
3-0 (6-1)
Round 4- Shawn- R/W
Devotion
Game 1- I feel like I let this game slip away. I drew a creature heavy hand and took the beatdown plan. I drew over the course of the game 2 Phoenix, Selfie, Chandra, Pyromaster and Mutavault. He got 2 Reckoners out and a Stormbreath Dragon that I couldn't kill. I was at 14 to his 5 and had Phoenix and Magma Jet in hand, Chandra, Pyromaster on board and a Mutavault with 3 Mountains. I +1ed the Chandra to ping him for 1 and prevent the Dragon from blocking and attacked for 2 putting him to 2. I couldn't kill him and wanted to force the issue and make him have it. He played the Fanatic of Mogis for 9 and killed me.
Game 2- He mulliganed to 5 and kept a land heavy hand. I had a Cackler, Phoenix, Mountain, Temple, Mizzium Mortars, Lightning Strike, and Shock. I proceeded to take advantage of his threat light hand and keep him off of devotion with my removal spells. I feel like I got lucky as I eventually drew into YP$, more removal, and finished it up with Stormbreath Dragon.
Game 3- He
mulliganed to 6 and I kept a land with no creatures and lots of removal. I kill all of his creatures turns 1-3, but I have yet to draw a threat. He lands a turn 4 Chandra, Pyromaster and +1s it. I draw a Fanatic of Mogis and play it and redirect the devotion damage to Chandra to put her to 4. His turn he 0s Chandra and hits a Mountain. I draw a YP$ and attack the Fanatic into Chandra and it gets Shocked. At this point, YP$ is my only creature in hand and I have a Lightning Strike with 5 mana. He is still at 20 and I was at a crossroads, I ended up passing the turn because Chandra could just eat my Pyromancer but I'm not sure about that play. I sit back for several turns hoping to draw another creature and 2 Chained to the Rocks and land are all I find. He eventually casts Purphoros and Reckoner and gets me to 6 with him still at 20. I double chain to remove his creatures and finally play the YP$ with Shock and Lightning Strike available. He pings the YP$ and I play both of my spells to hit him to 18 and get
Chandra to 2. I scry two Mountains to the bottom and next turn attack with both tokens. He Shocks one and Chandra goes to 1. I play Mutavault and pass. He plays an Ash Zealot, pings my last token with Chandra (putting me to 4), and attacks with the Zealot. I am afraid of going to 2 because of Shock so I chump with the Mutavault. I draw my first Phoenix of the game next turn, play it and tank for a bit. Ultimately I decide that attacking with the Phoenix is right because a +1 with the Chandra would prevent my Phoenix from attacking so it's best to get some damage in. I get him to 16 and pass. He pings me again with Chandra and attacks with Ash Zealot to get me to 1. I think I am drawing dead but not sure but a topdecked Mountain causes me to extend the hand.
3-1 (7-3)
All in all I was extremely impressed with the deck. I enjoyed playing it which is something I haven't been able to say with a lot of decks I've played with so far this Standard. It felt very powerful but at the same time challenging. I
can't imagine I played perfectly especially with this being my first actual tournament playing the deck. I wish I would have played some more decks that weren't homebrews, but you get what you get. I will be running this tomorrow at my PTQ and hopefully my memory serves me well enough that I can report on that as well. For reference, MDU's PyroSkies deck again. Thank you MDU for your constant contribution through the forum and your videos on YouTube and thank you everyone in this thread for teaching me so much about this deck through reading the thread!

I went 5-0 at FNM tonight at amazing discoveries here in tuscon. Pyroblack has been very good to me so far, dreadbore is amazing along with having doom blade/ultimate price. I was a little worried about only having 19 creatures so I cut a shock and added a misers pack rat. I didn't draw it in any games it would have been relavant. I also swapped ultimate prices into the main in place of doom blades but found little change in terms of targets. Niether hits nightveil specter which is very common but both hit mater of waves which is why those two slots aren't just dreadbores.
[deck]
Creatures 20
4x rakdos cackler
4x ash zealot
4x young pyromancer
1x pack rat
4x chandra's phoenix
3x exava, rakdos blood witch
Instants/sorceries 15
3x shock
4x lightning strike
4x magma jet
2x ultimate price
2x dreadbore
Walkers 2
2x chandra, pyromaster
Sideboard 15
4x Mizzium mortars
3x toil//trouble
3x skullcrack
2x
doom blade
2x dreadbore
1x hammer of purphorous
[/deck]
Round 1 mono black 1-0
I played aggressive beatdown and he couldn't find fast enough answers and lost both games the same way.
Round 2 mono green devotion 2-0
This was the fiance of my round 1 opponent. She mulled into oblivion game one. In game two she had an aggressive ramp draw with a turn three garruk that I couldn't find a dreadbore for. I managed to kill it but she'd already drawn more cards than I could deal with. In game three I played aggro-tempo and just managed to get there.
Round 3 RG devotion 3-0
This guy was quite grumpy the whole match. I nut drew both games and he griped about losing to "mono-red with dreadbore"
Round 4 R/w devotion 4-0
I find this matchup to be very easy. We have a deck full of removal spells and card advantage engines where they have slow, fragile creatures. I lost game 2 because I forgot to board out my cacklers and had fewer removal spells than I wanted.
Round 5 esper control 5-
0
My opponent worked for the shop and was quite skilled. In game one I flooded out and scooped to an early blood baron. Game 2 I got stuck on land and he flooded out but I had drawn all three exavas by the time I hit four land and he ran put of answers. Game three we played the phoenix game and I came out on top.
Against esper dreadbore is superb. It kills jace aot which would otherwise be a very large problem and elspeth which would just kill us.
I'm really liking this build and am feeling confidant to play in the upcoming ptq.

Now back home. 221 guys in PTQ (large ever in Portugal) with 8 rounds + Top 8, and went 6-2 finishing in 15th. In last round I was 8 and playing for top 8 but lose to Mono U that win the PTQ (not confirm yet, I received a SMS).
Lose two rounds against two players that made top 8, and I never had a chance in both games. Lose to 0-2 against Rw devotion in round 4, with both times triple Burning Tree Emissary at turn 3 (one with nykthos and Dragon). Against Mono U I think it was recorded and I will try to get the link to the game in twitch and then I post.
Win against Mono B, Esper control, Orzhov Agroo, (Rw devotion - lose), Selesnya Agroo, Esper Control, Orzhov Agroo (and Mono U - lose).
Now I gone rest my head

Reviewing The last round and I'm not fully happy. I view 2 errors that I missed in the game, but overall I think I need one more Mizzium Mortars or Chained to the Rocks.
In game one I lose to Master of Waves with the chained in my hand and no white mana, spend 2 Chandras Pyromaster to buy a white land, and when I do it is a scry... Dam!
It's the first game of this video:

Your plays didn't look bad to me. I think your opponent just out-drew you.
One thing I am curious about is then he had two frostburn weird, you faltered with Chandra and attacked with Zealot and Cackler and not Satyr. You had no mana up, so you couldn't bluff a burn spell. I don't think I would have attacked at all (since it meant trading AZ for the ability to force through 2 damage) or attacked with everything, because then you trade ash for 4 damage.
Of those two lines, I prefer not attacking. He couldn't really attack into you, and you cound just tick up Chandra.

Good work all! Glad everything is going well I finally acquired the other 3 Stormbreaths I needed, as well as another Muta, so I think I'm going to get back to playing Standard! Expect reports in the coming weeks.
Is there anything specific that ya'll feel needs to be added to the Primer?

Legitimately some of the best advice ever. You will win games because you aren't hungry, and your opponents are. Also, try to eat something every second round.

Bring your own food as well. And make it healthy food. When it's game 3 of round 6 with 10 minutes until you go to turns, and you've had an apple before every round and a granola bar after game 1 while the last thing your opponent ate was a Big Mac after round 2, guess who'll be in a better mental state?

It's been a while since I've asked for help here, but I'd like a few thoughts on how to make these MB/SB numbers work.
Based off of LaZer's list:
[deck]PyroConfused[/deck]
My problem is that I have more cards to bring in versus the usual suspects than I am able to remove. I liked LaZer's MB, so I tried to make it work with a sideboard that I liked better, and I couldn't
quite come up with something that works for me. I'm feeling like I really don't need the 3rd Charm or the 4th Reckoner. The charm should probably be a creature that's good against slow decks. The Reckoner could be something for control or R/W devotion (haven't played Standard in over 3 weeks, but apparently this is a deck, and the list looks like it could give us trouble), since small aggro should be easier with the extra MB removal. I also want the 2 Satyrs back in the deck, but it's probably the right call to do without them. Would they work in the SB? I have 2 open slots, so that might be worth some consideration. Is the sideboard the right place for small, aggressive creatures, though? While it seems to go against a lot of theory, it may be correct in such a creature-dominant meta.
