I havn't played with Shock and YP$ in awhile so its nice to have the meta warp slightly back into a direction where is viable again (Wx Weenies and Esper Aggro).

I 3-0 with the above list and got 5 boosters (that good) but I had one of the boosters stolen from a fake split agreement.

Anyhow its the first time it happen after years of playing but just encase you face him never split with the player: _ISellAll - since he'll just take your boosters and sell them.

pretty mana hungry. I'd also cut a Price and add a second Dreadbore.

I mean, you could take it to a tourney if you want, but it's
more of just an unrefined list just put up as something to hopefully spark discussion and ideas. It mainly takes advantage of all the silly synergies between tymaret, yp, and burn/spells, and rat, phoenix, and burn/chandra.

Two super genius DtR board members asked about swapping Fanatic of Mogis for 1 extra land and 1 dragon - I'm all on board for that idea since the dragon can be effective in more MUs then FoM.

Now here is the hard part, what should the land be?

A) Mountain - Nice and simple
B) Scry Land - We don't really want so many lands in a deck running Shocks, so the extra utility is good
C) Mutavault - Its another creature pretending to be a land >) - doesn't help with colours issues though.
D) Boros Guildgate - The colour fixing KING!!, only issues is that its come into play tapped.

I'm leaning towards Vaults because post board i side out many creatures, what are your thoughts guys?

I just went 3-1 (actually 2-1 since my second round opponent timed out) with this list in the recent Daily Event, beating AIR 2-1 and Burn 2-0 while losing to Mono-Black 1-2.

MDU, has Legion's Initiative worked as well in this deck as it did in Big Boros? I'm considering replacing Assemble the Legion with that to see if it would help improve my matchup against Mono-
Black.

Played the list you posted MDU tonight replacing the FoM with SBD and Mutavault. Lost to UW (with maindeck arch angel and aetherling) in swiss and top 8. Now i know that is not a popular choice between UW players, so i am trying to take my losses with a grain of salt. Thoughts? LI is bad. And I am never playing a red deck without Ash Zealots again. Also, not sure how much I even like SBD in the deck anymore If I want 4 dmg, I'd rather get it for 2 mana with boros charm. I'll post more tomorrow after my rage cools down.

Awesome photo purp it sounds like you did well (got into top8) and lost vs Janky anti-red UW deck.

I really need to read your report before I can say too much, but here are some explanation about my choices:

(1) LI is primarily for Ux, UW and Gx its quite bad vs everything else, if the three mention decks are not in your meta cut them

(2) SBD kinda hurts when your running an aggressive curve like we are here, however here is the math (math never lies).

With only 2x Dragons in your deck the chance of seeing 1 on turn 5 is only 33.6% and with 23 lands the chance of hitting 5 lands on the curve is 41.7% - every draw after your odds improve, so if you had them stuck in your hand allot for this event its mainly just variance being a bitch.

I vote for Vault or Mountain. I don't like CIPT so Guildgate is out for me (I'd rather run a plains if a White source was needed) and with 4 Temple and 4 Jet I don't think you need the extra scry land.

Looks darn solid purp I kinda miss running 3 Chandra, Pyromaster, but she isn't very viable on Modo because Rx is such a common MU.

If you don't care about blue I'll takeout 1 chains (from the MD and move it into the SB) for another Ash or Mortar.

The only differences in my MD from yours is -1 Jet, +1 Shock.
In regards to the no mono blue, take out a Chained from the MD and the Last Breath out of the sideboard.

After much training on-line I feel that the 2x Mizzium Mortars in mainboard are essential. Respond to a Baron, Weird, Spectre, Dragon, etc. If anyone want I can explain my choices and sideboard. I didn't lose to Mono U since I put the Mizzium Mortars up to 4, but I don't side in Boros Reckoner any more because of Domestication. I only change 4x 1 drop to 2x Mizzium and 2x Chain.

I'm now testing with Pyrodragon's list from the article of Z for the unique PTQ this season in Portugal. It is fun to play too. I like the list but I'm really thinking in play the list above. I never cast Dragon for the win, or it's for see to much Ultimate Price and Doom Blade or is simply because I had already win the game. In the list above I thinking cut the Boros Charm or [card]Act of Treason[/card:
y9w2tjnc], to put some Peak Eruption and maybe upgrade to the full playset of Skullcrack.

I wouldn't really say that this was a competitive FNM it wasn't the softest though. There were quite a few rogue decks running around... Bant Devotion anyone?

Round 1 Esper Control 1-0
Game 1 I had an aggressive draw and he played nothing but taplands before conceding on turn 5 or 6. Game two I killed his first blood baron and then his second one killed me. In game three I played aggro cast Toil/Trouble to deal him 6 damage and then promptly drew another one to kill him the next turn with another 6 damage for exactsies.

Round 2 RDW 2-0
Game one I outraced him and played the card advantage game with young pyromancer. Game two he flooded out very hard and didn't play more than three spells by turn 10

Round 3 Junk Midrange 2-1
Game one I flood out a little bit and get pummeled to death by smiters after using my removal on a pair of Desecration demons. Game 2 I play aggro while he plays caryatid into turn 3 advent of the wurm which he then enchants with an unflinching courage. I stall for as long as I can to try and draw a terror effect but miss on my window and die.

Round 4 Grixis Control
3-1
Game one I flood out really hard and manage to draw my twelfth land before he hits his fifth land drop... he proceeds to kill me with Niv-Mizzet after stabilizing. Games 2-3 are easy, I don't over-commit to the board playing around anger of the gods and utilizing the phoenix game.

Round 5 White Weenie Splash Black 4-1
This matchup is a bye. In game one he was on the play and opened with Mutavault>Land>Attack with Mutavault into my Shock which put him very far behind and then I played out aggro creatures and killed him. Game 2 I Boarded out Cacklers and Exavas in favour of more removal and hammer. I played the removal game until I could resolve a chandra and then a hammer and they overwhelmed him.

I like this deck a lot. I'm a little worried about the mono blue matchup and junk. GW and GB both seem like fine matchups but junk has all the cards that are hard to deal with. Mono-blue seems difficult to deal with if they get a bident online or if you don't have removal for the Master of Waves

Dreadbore was a house today. Killing jace with one card makes the blue control matchups much, much easier than they would otherwise be. It also kills everything barring Blood Baron, Master of the Waves and Soldier of the Pantheon. I found myself boarding into 4 almost every match.

I'd love to get some input on my interpretation of the deck.

@ amcfvierea - Your build looks solid and I doubt I can add anything you won't have read on here but here are my thoughts

Firstly - what is the 13% of your meta that isn't in the key? There are 12 slices of pie but only 11 labels From reading the list I guess it is random brews?

I'm not sure you need AoT so you may want to consider running a Rod Of Ruin for Master Of Waves. Last Breath is better (IMHO - it's more flexible) but without Dragons making up the 4 life can be tricky. Peak in the board is good against 18% of your meta so I'm behind that

Your deck should beat MonoB and Esper anyway so I don't think that you need the 4th Skullcrack.

EDIT - run 4 Vaults It's greedy but I love my Vaults

The 13% is OTHER random decks like UWR control and some rogues that don't made much relevance. The tournament had about 150 players so it's more less 20 decks.

I only sideboard AoT against Gr devotion/Monsters and some times Big Green/G devotion. I usually try to race with then in that matchup and the 0/3 wall it's difficult to beat, but people were always greed and tap it to put a big treat that a stolen to made the difference... I think in Last Breath but the times I try it against Mono B and Mono U I feel the 4 life was a shot in my toe because I was always racing them. I don't play Fire of the Firebrand because my actual meta have few decks that I make every time 1 for 2, so I prefer Mizzium Mortars and I love it in mainboard. I thinking in Peak of Eruption to Rw devotion that is a big punch in my meta and have ways to gain life in our race. Peak a mountain with a chain is
always nice to!

I never try the 4 Vaults in the White Walter because in paper for me is very greedy and I play the first game racing with everyone. In MTGO I'm testting Pyrodragons (with no Ash and no double red at second turn) with the 4 Vaults and I didn't have troubles with mana.

Anyways been busy with work so I can only play magic sparingly. Basically the last time I played was at GP albuquerque. Went 1 win shy of day two 6-3. To counteract the lack of magic in my life I have invested in a new computer so I may play MODO. Trying to win my way into some tickets so I can build Pyrored/black/white, And start grinding away. Im cbc on MODO. Lemme know if anyone has some extra standard staples I could use of trade for too.

my head was calmer and I played much better so I'm happy with my progress for the day Deck ran smoothly, Selfie was good (evasion, makes up for lack of Ashley) but not amazing, as you would expect.

I'm not sure I completely understand the logic of including Skynight Legionnaire in PyroRed. Maybe it's a good card, yeah, but it takes away even more burn spells from what's already pretty marginal for making YP$ worthwhile. It seems the Big Boros Variant (or a build without YP$ for that matter) would be a better home for this, or what am I missing?

I am not sure about Helix in here Dauntless, I'm liking it in the Boros build though so def worth a test

I've not tried the extra scry in here, I don't even run the Guildgate such is my hatred for CIPT lands

I won 2-1 against GB Midrange and 2-0 against RB Aggro - both slightly homebrew-ish, admittedly not the strongest of opposing decks. I liked how it played, still found myself waiting for just another Stormbreath that wouldn't come... so not sure if this is better or worse than its bigger brother. Definitely would jump on MDU's plan of +Land + Dragon in the SB (probably cutting a reckoner and a mortars). Just as an alternative to the Legionnaire plan you guys are testing...

I too played in the big championship yesterday as Raida, however I did not have as good of a finish. Went 4-2 in the swiss then lost in top 8, finishing 7th.

Top 8 - Esper by Daniel - This was a very anti aggro build. No azorious charms, instead he had ultimate prices and last breaths.

Ended in 7th place. Overall deck was ok, Ash zealot is just amazing, Young Pyro was not too impressive. I think I am going to be playing Big Boros or BR at next weekends PTQ. Big Boros being weaker to WW has me scared to play it though.
