I am probably going to end up getting a concealed carry permit (nice thing about living in a conservative state is that they are easy to get, which could also be considered a bad thing (it's a good thing I can get one easy [I'm ex-military, i'm not worried about me], but the fact that everyone can is unnerving).
Think of it this way: anyone who would use a gun in an illegal manner is going to be carrying one whether they have a permit to do so or not so the only people you really have to worry about are the ones with good intentions but that are too dumb to use a weapon
responsibly - and, IME, most of them are anti-gun anyway.

Either way, you're probably not going to want to be unarmed.
You apparently don't live in the midwest, where the stupid people are just as progun as everyone else. But yeah, st. Louis is not a city to be unarmed. I find it hilarious that the 3 most dangerous cities in the us (detroit, st. Louis, and kansas city) are all in the midwaste.

Congratz to the promotees!

How do I get promoted?

You're like the least gay member of this clan.

Congrats guys! Always happy to see more people doing better and better :)

On a side note: New week after a weekend full of results, so its time to update our gauntlet!

Thinking about going with this list:
Esper Control
GW Aggro
Mono Blue Devo
Mono Red Aggro
RG Mid
Dega Mid
Junk Mid
Naya Mid
UW Control
Boros Aggro

Any random rogue decks that you guys have seen that should go up? Mono B Devo?

I do not live in the Midwest. In the Southeast we certainly have our fair share of pro-gun dumbasses, but they are usually either:
1. Too lazy to go through the process of getting a CWP
2. Too dumb to go through the process of getting a CWP
3. Too poor to go through the process of getting a CWP, or
4. Have a criminal record

Anyone I've ever met
that I wouldn't feel comfortable having a gun around me has fallen into one of those categories and/or has no intention of ever owning a gun because "violence has never solved anything."
:V

You get promoted by posting up good content. The only reason you, and some of the other newbies, weren't promoted is because you've been here such a short time. Keep posting like you have and you'll be a shoe-in for Tier 2 when we do them again in another month or so.

I expect certain idgets to not be pro-gun as more damn Californians move to my state. The individuals that irk me bad are the ones who think .380 is the best concealed carry gun. It is concealable but a joke in ballistics+range. That damn round is
way to small and has probably killed more user than targets due to the targets getting pissed from being decently alive after being shot. Think of your average American. It's is growing into a large cheese ass, thus your little bullet has to punch through clothes, skin, fat, muscle (if any?), and bone. That .380 is not "the little engine that could" from Major Payne. .22 long rifle has better damage results than .380! WTF! It's one thing to be armed, but another to be effectively armed.

To bad you can't find Phosphorus rounds in .410 as the Smith & Wesson Governor would be the Red mages pistol of choice for real life if such ammo were commonly availably.

If you are buying a gun purely for self defense nearly anything you can control is sufficient, provided you can conceal it, control it, and draw it quickly enough. The range typically needed for self defense is roughly point blank, and trust me when I say almost any firearm is going to be efficacious enough at point blank. Beyond that, assuming you aren't stupid and/or bloodthirsty then you are generally not going to be actually pulling the trigger in those scenarios, the threat of the weapon is generally great enough.

You're shooting them with a metaphoric cock and balls.

I've seen a case full of no-serial guns. You can buy them for about a month of NYC rent. These guns are acquired in a couple of ways:

1. Stealing - there aren't many states that specify how you store your guns, because states who favor guns do not favor excessive [difficult-to-enforce] regulations.

2. Running - how many of you have sold plasma for cash? If you were desperate enough, would you apply for a weapon and then re-sell at at 200-300% markup to a black market supplier? There are plenty of anonymous dealers who operate out of deepnet (Do you envision the black market as a dark alley? It's more like Facebook), taking advantage of people hard-up for easy cash.

3. Weapons trade is directly related to drug trade, ESPECIALLY everyone's favorite cash crop: weed. In legal states armed security guards are hired at the supplier, transportation, and vendor level. In non-legal states each of those distribution levels
needs to arm themselves, usually illegally, to protect their valuable product, creating a HUGE demand for blanked weapons.

Keep in mind that ramped THREE STRIKES or NO TOLERANCE felony convictions force the average McLibertarian Weed Supplier to seek weapons from uncontrolled black market channels. That's dangerous for everyone involved.

IMO the only way to approach this is to cut off black market demand for firearms by legalizing the cash crop (creating legal jobs at every level, and increasing the likelihood that defensive weapons are registered). We spend waaaay too much time and energy thinking about gun ownership on an individual level, but it's the industrial-level demand for weapons that deserves our immediate focus. When someone political talks about gun ownership individually (and it's ALWAYS individual ownership in the media), they're just platform pandering.

God damn it was refreshing to hear someone else thinking the same thing. Now I know I'm just a little less crazy.
I always hear the "But then only criminals will carry guns!" line, but no one ever stops a says "Wait, why are criminals carrying guns, wait, why are they criminals anyway?!".

I'd love to see how many problems true education reform and legalization would change. . .

Working on it, one mind at a time. The systemic stuff won't change first, it has to be individuals enlightening other individuals.

You're not crazy - they just want you to think you are. They want you to believe the current paradigm can't be changed by lifting grains of sand with tweezers.

"They" being a blanket term for all the non-autonomous forces that comprise our environment, not "they" the Secret Backroom of Global Villains or whatever.

I am sorry I led us off on this tangent. I will say that get weird looks from my fellow far lefties when I admit I really don't think gun control does anything. I think background checks are a good idea, no sense making it too easy, beyond that meh. Then again I am an american and nothing gives americans a bigger hard-on than a guns and cheeseburgers.

Back to as close to on topic as this thread gets, anybody still using gathan raiders in casual decks? I really like what it does late game.

I love how the argument is basically "mono red deck is so easy to play" "yeah no shit. Hardest deck to play well." "No!" "Yes. Here are some examples." "Nu-uh!" "why do we even bother..."

Also love the injection of that by saying RDW is one of the hardest to play well, we automatically state that control is easy. I missed that argument somewhere.

I tell my LGS players that, as I believe, Red is the easiest color to play but the hardest to play well.

It's hilarious when you are the most experienced player in your playgroup by nearly a decade and they still argue that RDW is a simplistic newb deck. My only thought is "bitch, I was the oe who taught you to play this mother fucking game". And after I spank then with it repeatedly they say it's purely playskill, to which I can only reply "don't you think I applied some of that skill in putting the damn thing together". Of course once we trade decks and I hammer them with their deck, the "just playing it better" argument gains steam.

thanks to nbw for the sig.
You do need to try to gay it up a little more.

You're like the least gay member of this clan.

And that's counting the fact that you voluntarily have sex with men.
