"I can feeeeel the hate floooooowing through you. Goooood. Gooooood! "
"Lo, it shall come upon the world that the prison of the Greatest One shall grow weak, like the limbs of those who crafted it. Once again, His glorious cloak shall smother the Pattern of all things, and the Great Lord shall stretch forth His hand to claim what is His. The rebellious nations shall be laid barren, their children caused to weep.
There shall be none but Him, and those who have turned their eyes to His majesty...

..And then, shall the Lord of the Evening come. And He shall take our eyes, for our souls shall bow before Him, and He shall take our skin, for our flesh shall serve Him, and He shall take our lips, for only Him will we praise. And the Lord of the Evening shall face the Broken Champion, and shall spill his blood and bring us the Darkness so beautiful. Let the screams begin, O followers of the Shadow. Beg for your destruction!"

The last book is worth it. Was hard to read because I knew there wouldn't be a fifteenth but worth it all the same.

I gave up on that series around book 8 or 9. He just kept introducing more and more characters without resolving anything. The Wheel of Neverending Time

I read them all once, but I wanted to read them again in anticipation of the last book.

I got to (I think) Crossroads of Twilight before I was like "Nothing's actually happening!" The story doesn't progress at all in that book so I lost all will to continue.

So going to my playtesting group tonight..

Tested PyroRed last night.

Zem, you got any brews you want me to try? I test with a good group of players who are all gearing for competitive events, States and the TCG 5k.

Also, I noticed that the PyroRed deck was actually played the the Open by the two guys who bubbled at 9/10.

http://magic.tcgplayer.com/db/deck.asp?deck_id=1161045

Did they get the list from you?

Tell me about it. It's really tempting but I just can't give her up. She's soooooooooo good.

Also, Chandra's Phoenix at $2 a piece after buying them for a quarter.
Ash Zealot back up above $2 for the first time since RtR.
Boros Reckoner at $14 after sitting between $8-10 for awhile.
Mizzium Mortars at $4 after hitting a low of $1.

Damn it feels good to buy cards while they're low.

Really trying to get better at magic this season. Been grinding my ass off, tournaments every weekend from TCG5k to States to StarCity.

The only books i read anymore are philosophy books. Fiction starts to become boring when you read about the nature of reality and the universe.

I disagree. I've read way more than my fair share of Phil both classical and contemporary (phil minor history major) and I still prefer good fantasy or scifi.

Red Mogis all the way.

I really think that maindecking Boros Reckoner is where Red wants to be right now.

With that said, Red still needs to be aggressive. I like how the deck can make a stonewall and then fly over with Phoenixes, generate advantage with Chandra, or just dome with a Mogis.

I only think I need 2-3 shock though. Not sure what to add though...maybe -2 Shock, +1 Fanatic, +1 Pheonix or possibly, -2 Shock, -1 Mutavault, + 1 Mountain, + 1 Reckoner, + 1 Pheonix

To everyone on PyroRed; I assume you we're running 2 Flames of the Firebrand? We could switch those to Annihilating Fire to help with the Devotion Red semi-mirror; and the card isn't horrific:
- kills x/3s instantly; there's a few relevant ones
- exiles Phoenix, Reckoner, Voice of Resurgence
- go upstairs for 3 at instant speed

The other alternatives are main decking Firefist Strikers to help get past Reckoner, or maybe Goblin Shortcutter if we think Firefist would be unreliable in this kind of deck; eg. -2 Flames, +2 Shortcutter; or -2 Flames, -1 Hammer, -1 Chandra; +4 FFS
