For those with a control interest, it's all about UR. Thoughtflare and Counterflux are both really good currently.

Sad thing is, Chandra sucks in deck with counterspells.
But yea, I got totally hooked in when you said about UR Control. Not sure if Thoughtflare would be my card of choice - Steam Augury/Opportunity combo is fine. SA might not be the new FoF but it's worth trying out (even if it largely depends on your opponent in the wrong way).
Any Planeswalkers that suit this deck? Jace? Maybe Ral Zarek? I know he looks awful and probably is just awful... but I actually like him untapping my land even while tapping opponent's pernament doesn't really matter. And again, he's 5 loyality Planeswalker for 4, who can sling Lightning Bolts and has really nutcracking ultimate. I believe in him a little bit, especially when he gets cheap as hell.

Ral is fine, not amazing. Gets better when you have staticasters and ratchet bomb type cards obviously.

On the LGS facebook page, all we've done today is make boon satyr puns.

And RUG Ral sounds cool. You could ramp lots of mana and since you're in blue, you'd have actual card draw. To bad it means you'd be playing RUG, the least cool of color combos.

God, Fate, staph.
I know that your plan to improve UW Control is to make it smash things, possibly by using Ghor-Clan Rampager... but contain your rage, Gruul friend.
I'm never gonna try to talk about tri-colored decks in this format. I just don't trust them at all. They are not worth of my trust.
Izzet with Anger of the Gods as sweeper, burn as flexxible wincon/removal and Aetherling. I think I've found deck to play if my budget will ever stretch enough to contain it.

Now that you're getting me interested, though:
- UR lacks a Scryland, atm;
- knowing you, you're not going to play tap-out, so I seriously doubt you're considering Chandra - I'll bet you're not even considering Ral Zarek;
- Anger of the Gods is good, but it's not Supreme Verdict either.

4x Magma Jet
3x/4x Anger of the Gods
1x/2x Aetherling
3x Jace AoT?
4x Izzet Charm?
2x Counterflux?
2x Opportunity I guess
?x Dreadbore
3x Steam Augury
?x Mizzium Mortars?
?x Thoughtflare?
3x Dissolve?

Core would be something like:

3 anger of the gods
4 counterflux
2 essence scatter
2 dreadbore
2 izzet charm
4 magma jet
2 opportunity
4 thoughtflare

2 aetherling
4 frostburn weird

27 land

=56

- counterflux beats UW by itself. Can't Rev? Awkward. Izzet Charm and Dreadbore are very powerful as well.
- I'd say you're pretty well set up for aggro
- thoughtflare > steam augury here. Why? It lets you cycle whatever is bad in your hand (eg: removal against control) and it can't discard your Aetherling. It's also cheap enough that it gets you ahead early before you need to fight revelation battles.

Ill fucking demote anyone that goes "4 slots left? 4 Thoughtseize!"

Let's talk about how Hammer makes any deck running red and creatures infinitely better. Put it in naya. Beat a control player with a hasty ruric thar.

Turn//Burn seems mandatory to me. Syncopate is a card I've always hated with a passion. I'd also go with a split of 2 dissolve, 1 counterflux with 2 flux and 2 negate in the board. Clunky mana/counters are clunky.

I was a blue mage for my first 6/7 years playing magic.

And you'd play 8 taplands. Steam vents+guildgate. on 27 lands, you're almost assuredly including 1/2 mutavault as well. If you where straight UR at least which Z's deck isn't.

Makes me feel good, Z, i built almost that same deck earlier today. I like the fact that you have an out against Mistcutter, i wasnt splashing for dreadbore.

+1 turn // burn. With frostburn weird its is frequently a twofer.

Aetherize? More of a tempo play, but it is pretty sweet.

Syncopate is only good early; so it's good in UW which is soft early. UR is really good early, so you want your counters to do more late.

I already have a bunch of answers to Reckoner if it resolves (5 maindeck, possibly 7 post board). Obzedaddy is a bigger issue, but probably still manageable. I don't like Turn // Burn much at all. Far // Away?? Now we're cooking with gas.

Manabase would look something like:

3 Blood Crypt
4 Steam Vents
4 Watery Grave
4 Temple of Deceit
2 Izzet Guildgate

7 Mountain
5 Island

For 16U / 16 R / 11 B

Most of the red comes in untapped, which is super important turn 3 anger of the gods.

That leaves us with 4 empty non-land spots.

Mizzium Mortars take care of Vizkopas, as well as the Turn // Burn that you don't like.
Or were you just set on 4x Far // Away?

Also, Underworld Connections seems too greedy, Ratchet Bomb too slow and mediocre, and I've got mixed feelings on Rakdos Return.
Toil // Trouble? Read the Bones?

Does Cyclonic Rift get at least some sideboard love?

This is the deck I was talking about on the stream this morning. It's still pretty rough, but blue seems like a much better splash color than white for aggressive decks right now.
[deck]
Creatures (28)
4 Firedrinker Satyr
4 Rakdos Cackler
4 Ash Zealot
4 Gore-House Chainwalker
4 Frostburn Weird
4 Boros Reckoner
4 Fanatic of Mogis

Spells (11)
4 Izzet Charm
4 Magma Jet
3 Turn // Burn

Land (21)
4 Steam Vents
4 Izzet Guildgate
1 Mutavault
8 Mountain
4 Island

Sideboard (15)
3 Izzet Staticaster
4 Counterflux
1 Essence Scatter
2 Chandra, Pyromaster
2 Jace, Memory Adept
3 Mizzium Mortars
