It's actually good game 1 vs. GW, so that's a big deal. Ash Zealot, YP (they can't remove it) and more burn are all a big game.Hey Zman, I'm not quite understanding the new deck. You've explained how it's better against mono-red mirror, but what about the other match ups? It seems like it would be slower than BTE based decks. How does this deck want to beat them?
Vs. everything else you're a less aggressive mono red deck, but you have an actual middle and late game. If you've followed my decks over the last year, that's just a style I'm wayyyyy more comfortable with (I'm the mono red 'midrange' guy). Look at it this way; your average draw is weaker than a BTE draw; but if they don't have BTE (52%) your draw is much
stronger, in every matchup; and you top deck stronger.
Now, it is possible you actually want:
4 Ash Zealot
4 Chandra's Phoenix
4 Firedrinker Satyr
4 Rakdos Cackler
4 Young Pyromancer
3 Chandra, Pyromaster
1 Hammer of Purphorous
As a more aggro game 1. But I kinda like eschewing 1 drops if you're expecting a lot of aggro and midrange. Obviously if you're expecting heaps of control, you'll really miss the one drops.
RE: Firefist in my proposed list, could be GHC; but with 4 Mutavault, some haste guys, tokens it seems ok. Maybe I just want GHC though.
RE: Spark Jolt. It's also good synergy with Ash Zealot (3 power FS), YP (surprise kill an x/2) and Chandra (kill an x/2). I'm testing against a lot of aggro, so it's probably over performing. That control is such an easy matchup helps mitigate it's downside.

lol. "But we need lifegain in our deck if we're hitting ourselves so hard with read the bones, underworld connections, thoughtseize, and overgrown tomb! pack the deck with bad lifegain cards!"
Or, you know, determine which of those cards that hurt you are actually necessary, and put in a few cards like 1 or 2 Whip and Gray Merchant to hedge it.
Although, maybe the deck should change names from "Charlie Murphy" to "Why are you hitting yourself?"

I don't love the suggestion, but at least the guy who posted that has pinpointed a weakness of the deck and is trying to find ways to combat it.ugh. now someone's suggesting brindle boar in that Sally Rock deck. I may just be done with the thread for now...
Sally could use a lot more of that kind of attitude.

Without Snapcaster, those Sphinx's Revelations are less worrisome. A life gain of 4-5 is a lot easier to deal with when you don't have to worry about them firing one off every few turns. Plus, there's no easy card draw at lower CMC, which means they don't have reliable ways to find the answers they need.It seems like Jace AoT lists would give you huge fits Z. I mean sure you don't overextend into wraths, but it seems hard to kill them before they can get off a Rev for 4 or 5
I'd be more worried about Unflinching Courage in G/W.

Yeah, that's true. It is a suggestion to an obvious weakness. I guess I throw out enough bad suggestions around here that I should be more lenient with that.I don't love the suggestion, but at least the guy who posted that has pinpointed a weakness of the deck and is trying to find ways to combat it.ugh. now someone's suggesting brindle boar in that Sally Rock deck. I guess it's just obvious to me that you don't run 4x
Thoughtseize, 4x Read the Bones and any more than 2 UC, and that Whip and Gray Merchant are parts of the deck that you draw and scry into. But I thought I'd see more suggestions for Corrupt before I saw suggestions for Brindle Boar.
I actually think that UC is a sideboard card out of the gates of a new format, not a main deck card. It just seems far too slow for the aggro we're all expecting with rotation.
My list is running 3 Thoughtseize, 2 Read the Bones main and 2 copies of UC in the side. 1 Whip and 2 Gray Merchant should be enough to hedge that unless I'm facing a very fast aggro deck, at which point my plays are more focused on removal and big bodies anyway.

So would Ember Swallower just wreck the Maze deck?

Possibly, but who knows. by turn 7 i usually have a couple of gates to throw under the bus anyhow, and I run 2 of each for exactly that reason (among others, like mill). But i am more worried about the 7/8 coming at me and the burn spells than anything.
The main problem with the deck is game 1 answers to planeswalkers. They can just keep ticking them up while I apply no pressure. I was thinking about main decking A couple of those Perimeters because of this.

First of all: you've got to forgive me because I'm obviously having trouble expressing myself in english as it isn't my native language.Being manipulative is the surest way to destroyMaybe she's just being manipulative. Also, I don't like the fact that your girlfriend is "confused" by everything. Good or bad, I'm with my girl and I expect my girl to be with me - not "confused" about how we feel.
Maybe she wants him to act.
My guess is that if she wanted to leave him or cheat on him, he wouldn't have been informed.
a relationship. It is also a sign that person is not yet ready for a serious commitment. Relationships thrive on open and honest communication. Game playing is the antithesis of what a good relationship wants and needs.
Far more likely is that she really is confused by what's happening. From her perspective, her boyfriend doesn't have the time for her, which sends all kinds of mixed signals. Then another guy appears and offers a sympathetic view, and she's able to find some of the support she needs from him. Her emotional wires are crossed, and she's having trouble seeing through the static.
Been through it. Couldn't see it for what it was. Got burned pretty badly by it.
Now, I'm nobody to judge Calamity and his GF, yet I feel like they're both having trouble getting the hang of their own relationship.
Let's just say I won't be
surprised if we end up discovering that she's trying to set off some kind of alarm in Calamity's head.
I'm not even saying that's a good idea, healthy for their relationship or anything

@ Brindle Boar - Eh, I suppose they missed Swagtusk real much and wanted a replacement of a pig.
@ zemanjaski : I'm tempted to include at least 1 [card]Pyromancer's gauntlet[/card] in that decklist. How about Wild Guess for the two slots, though?

That deck is only playing 3 Chained to the Rocks.
Why. Just why.
Why. Just why.
The frequency with which you move between decks is astounding.I have figured out that if everyone else is playing BTE+buddies, i want to be playing Ash Zealot + Young Pyro. The Mono R Mirror is very one sided when you have that creature set up.

It's always possible the guy just build a Midrange Boros list from scratch... most of the card choices are pretty apparent if you're familiar with the archetype.

Only 3 Chained to the Rocks because it's dead in certain matchups.

Wasn't someone looking for a reason to play Pithing Needle?
Name Maze's End.
Also, Burning Earth has to be amazing against that deck.
