+1I think I'd prefer to play Anger of the Gods and laugh hysterically at my opponents who are playing this guy.

Not a bad card at all.
ham - Chandra. I have three now in anticipation of playing her in a R/x shell after rotation. I can also play her in RW modern but I have decided to be cheap and play just shocks and checks for white sources. Clifftop Retreats are less than 0.50 tix.
I had some fun tonight playing RB burn with her in Standard. RW is probably better though. I had a hard time answering Desecration Demon and Detention Sphere. There were also a ton of people playing Witchbane Orb for some reason (I guess a hedge against Drownyard now), but running 16 creatures helps make winning an inevitability, especially with Chandra in play.

This is relevant to all your interests
Found this during one of our "hey lets drink and read aloud casual encounters postings"
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/ ... 62078.html
Keep getting tempted by RB with its access to Burn, Bore, Instabore, Rak Return and big black finishers.

This guy has been slowly creeping down in preorder price. If he hits ten, I may pick up a set.

The first time I saw dark confidant, I imediately recognized it's power level. The card was aggressively costed with a huge upside and a small downside. It forced you to use your life as a resource and rewarded you with an insanely OP effect.JS, drop your knowledge. Why DC level of scare?
In my mind, this card is similar. A 2/1 for one is nearly as good as we get. A 2/2 would have been nice, but then would have probably been mythic. Now it's a 2/1 for 1 that pumps. Remember how good stonewright was? It's like cackler and stonewright fucked and made this. Yes it deals damage to you. As long as you are the beatdown, you don't care. Yes it will ocassionally cost you games. It is not for the feint of heart. Remember, Lightning Strike
won't see as much play as Searing Spear because there is more decent instant speed removal and the mana bases are worse. You won't encounter a tonne of burn. This card is a double edged sword, like mana barbs, that will reward good players and punish bad players. This card also doesn't give a fuck about hexproof plants.

Looks like I may just be replacing my nobles with this guy and not changing deck
Idk, I like him a lot and I haven't figured out a less clunky Midrange red deck yet so agro sligh is my fallback deck and he's perfect for that.
YES JOHNNY! FUCK YOUR PLANTS!!!!

Triad of Fates
2wb
Legendary Creature — Human Wizard Rare
1, {T}: Put a fate counter on another target creature.
{W}, {T}: Exile target creature that has a fate counter on it, then return it to the battlefield under its owner's control.
{B}, {T}: Exile target creature that has a fate counter on it. Its controller draws two cards
Thoughts?

Doesn't do anything in constructed. Possibly a limited bomb, but even there, it takes 2 turns to do anything besides being a hill giant. He's either providing card advantage at the cost of board presence, or eating their board presence, but giving them CA. Granted you control the situation so can choose the best option. He also blinks creatures with devotion triggers which is pretty good(looking at grey merchant of ashwhatever).
Limited bomb, but a tricky one. Still, wouldn't mind opening one at GP OKC depending on what the rest of the set looks like. They need to just spoil all the commons already so I can figure out how to draft the set.

I guess. I don't know how much removal I want to run, without seeing how realistic burning them out is. Definite possibility. Not enough UR duals
but you get to play Mutavault I guess.

Probably wants to be Grixis (soft splash) for Return and Dreadbore.
Alternatively, you could build pretty much an identical deck, going UB, but that takes away the backup plan of burning them out, in exchange for a leg up in the control mirror (you're probably unbeatable in the control mirror with UB).

Actually, just play UB, the mana is SO much better and you can get away without a sweeper because the mere presence if a sweeper in the format will slow down the format for you (I hope, YMMV).
Maybe UB Midrange with:
Frostburn Weird
Tidebinder Mage (hits a LOT of cards)
Neightveil Spectre
Master of the Waves (can make a lot of tokens)
Thassa + Bident (singles)
Still, this is all really inefficient in deck space compared to 2x Aetherling...
Now I want to brew a Kuroda Red still red deck >:)

Did anyone see this from ChannelFireball?
Finding the Optimal Aggro Deck via Computer Simulation
http://www.channelfireball.com/articles ... imulation/
Very interesting. He discusses it from the point of stronger card pool vs. weaker card pool to find the optimal mix of cards. In a card pool with better cards, his simulations suggest that 20 lands are best since the power of each card is relatively high. Whereas in a weaker card pool, less than 20 lands are best because land flood is punished more severely.

Good read, windrstrider - that should probably be linked in our Strategies and Games forum.
On a completely different note: has anyone else noticed that Larry's posting on Sally has been slightly less garbage recently? Are we actually beating some sense into him?

It's based on how hard you try.Gets 70/100 on first homework.
Answers are the exact same as on the solution sheet we just received.
WTF.
If you'd have gotten those same answers but were dumber you'd have done better.
Or maybe it's Obama.
