You realize overload doesn't trigger heroic, yea?

Also, do we still have a brew thread?

Correct, doesn't trigger heroic, overload gives you the ability to go down a different route if needed.

We do, its the brewery & warehouse. Thats where im taking the rest of this idea.

Is this SB for Gruul Aggro even viable:

Sideboard:
4 Savage Summoning
4 Mizzium Mortars
4 Flames of the Firebrand
3 Destructive Revelry

I already do have 2 Hammers maindeck.
I don't think savage summoning is good at all. rangers guile x2 if you're looking for that effect, though I think hellraiser goblin shows promise as well

though with hammer he's probably bad.

I still think ground assault for the GW decks will be awesome the the 5 toughness things they make

Kk, I was just thinking you might want to look into Madcap skills. It seems like it fits with the deck, and may work better than some of the jankier overload cards (Wouldn't it be nice if we got a decent bestow creature?).

Is the brewery in the restricted area?

Thanks for the intel. To be honest I mostly wanted to protect my dudes from counterspells + play them at opponent's EOT. That's pretty good way of dealing with control while you don't have hasty dudes (yet). He wraths, I do EOT SS + Ghor-Clan Rampager. 5/5 trampling dude ready to beat his sorry ass. But if meta will be defined by black removal or blue tempo, then I guess I could even consider Ranger's Guile.
Can I cast Savage Summoning in response to counterspell?
1. I cast creature
2. He wants to counter it
3. Savage Summoning?

BTW. I've swapped Gore-House Chainwalker in my list for Scavenging Ooze. This card feels so good and so strong, even with limited Green mana. I was thinking about upping them to 10 (just Forests, I'm not
greedy on colour at all).

No, Savage Summoning sets up a delayed trigger that occurs when you cast a creature spell. So it won't effect spells you've already cast.

No, Savage Summoning doesn't work like that, as it says "the next creature spell you cast this turn can't be countered." You have to cast it after summoning resolves. The reason the spell is bad is because, when all is said and done, you're spending two cards to put one creature on the board.

@Helios YP & NM Elemental only let you abuse Heroic with Instants and Sorceries. The challenge I was facing was finding cards that would still help you out should one of the synergy cards not be on the field. Unfortunately, the full list isnt spoiled so I can't see if there are any other 1CMC cards worth using.

Charge and Weapon strike both are in the list due to drawing them without a NM E present still allows you to get good value out of YP or the heroic creatures. The counts might need to be adjusted but thats the general idea, allows for a possible AiR brew out of the board as well.

Random question to you guys, vs those damn hexproof decks. Is race the only option? Or would Ratchet Bomb in the board be a good thing to look into especially with the plant?

I think control is still viable, you just need to brew smarter. Jace is fine card draw, omenspeaker is...playable and opportunity means you still get a lategame. I'd likely be more interested in a dega midrange control build myself assuming the format is significantly slower then it is currently for the agro decks.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

So the options are grossly underpowered, got it.

Remember when JAoT was a 4 of in UW control? Remember how bad those decks where (before everyone moved to flash). Yeah, those decks are even worse now.

It's not about brewing smarter, there just aren't the cards to make a really good deck yet. UWx is the closest but wow are the cards crappy. Omenspeaker is not good and there's no early game library manipulation at 1 or 2cc....awful.

Control is for the smart players remember? Thats how you know they're smart; they're playing control!

On a serious note there's plenty of cards left to be spoiled (more than a hundred) so I'm sure the necessary pieces will get printed.

Also did you see these brews on mtgs by any chance?

I'm firmly in the camp of omenspeaker is trash, but I'm not gonna lie to myself and say there's no way it's playable. Scrying is powerful and 1/3's aren't the worst blockers. I think one decent blue draw spell for cheaps is probably enough to make control decks viable. Woe to the UWR players though. Let me destroy your steam vents please.

I watched that one last. He gives a lot of good advice and it's pretty awesome that he gives that much of his time to people who want to do the same thing he does. I'm
still trying to decide which way is the best to start acquiring singles to sell for profit, but I'm thinking it's going to be via collections that can be had for good prices.

Omenspeaker begs the question of how much worse a card can be than Seagate Oracle and still see play by desperate blue mages. Card is getting really, really bad; spending a card to filter in the control mirror and turning on your opponents dead removal? Uggggh. Gains only a tiny amount of life against aggro and can't 2-for-1. Very crappy.

Still, if blue gets Serum Visions that will go a long way.

It is but I don't know why it couldn't be. FWIW Thiuggtseize might be a little too aggressive on your own life total.

4 Dark Confidant
4 Delver of Secrets
4 Young Pyromancer

4 Gitaxian Probe
2 Go for the Throat
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Mana Leak
2 Pillar of Flame
4 Serum Visions
4 Sleight of Hand
4 Spell Snare

4 Misty Rainforest
4 Scalding Tarn
4 Tectonic Edge
3 Watery Grave
3 Steam Vents

1 Island
1 Mountain

I have found the Tec. Edge plan to be better than Snapcasters, which also reduce your spell density. Your mikeage may vary.
