I was looking for a proactive t2 play as we often don't want or cannot play YP out on that turn. I've had a couple of games where Raise the Alarm into YP into Stoke (for 1 Mana) can put me pretty far ahead so that's nice. That said, I'm not exactly sure if how good that card is if people see it comi...

How do you feel in retrospect about cutting Chains from the MD? Would you overall recommend it? @ MDU: TBH, I'd rather have them play Electricity tha...

Don't worry, you'll be fine with your MD vs. Red Aggro. It's just that saying Chains is bad vs. Red Aggro goes a bit far IMO.

I like chains over Blood MD because I'm not confident I can race U and B Devo without it. But maybe you can?

@ Whole: it's one of those times where the metagame for DEs is different than the one for 8-mans. I've seen a lot more Red Aggro on 2- and 8-mans than MTG goldfish would suggest. So best to adjust according to which types of events you play @ Black Lanner. Chains is good vs. Aggro. When you run him ...

Its greedy not gonna lie, it has been working rather well for me so far and it comforting to know that RDW has been running 21-22 lands with 4cc creatures for months now with 4x Fanatic of Mogis and zero scry while still scoring well in premiums and DEs. That said, moving the 4th chain to the SB an...

The point is that Chains doesn't care whether they bring Sheep, Fiendslayer or Archangel or Dirty Swine The Ever Blocking Wall. It just gets rid of WHATEVER creature they bring in. And yes there are still control players that have no creatures SB but they are few and far between.

The problem with Searing Blood / CTTR is that you kind of have to choose between the two since both are dead vs. control (certainly the one that the we saw at the PT).

Agree w/ Elricity, though the Jet might have gotten countered as he played D-Sphere first, so it's also not risk free. In any case you can still MJ him and win instantly if you scry up a Boros Charm, so the game is certainly not lost for the Burn Player. EDIT: Elricity, assuming your line of play an...

I'm boarding out as many 4 drops as possible vs control as I reasonably can.
I agree. This is also one of the reasons why I tend to favour Hammer over Chandra in my SB vs. Control. It's much easier to play reasonably proactive D-Sphere hate than to try and get 4 CMC cards through counterspells.

I would consider running more 1/2 drops (Satyr, Keening Apparition or Eidolon are the obvious possibilities here).
