Like a lot of cards, they're not good or bad, just different to the commonly accepted 'wisdom'. Are cards like this frequently bad? Yes. But that is because they don't fit into most traditional builds. In some decks however, they're basically Searing Blaze or better ~ even if I "2-for-1" m...

Good evening, everyone! On the subject of Modern, I wish they would push in the direction of making that more popular. I enjoy Modern a hell of a lot more than Standard. Playing virtually any deck you want is pretty nice. Just not as large a playerbase. Few things are better than hearing late the n...

Yeah; I think I really want Liliana, some hand disruption and Tragic Slip; will have a think and get back. Ideally we need 12+ effects that want to be in the GY (for looting to be either cycle plus scry 2 or straight draw 2) and we're basically there already, so the core concept looks viable.

Few things are better than hearing late the next day "I'm still sore". I know. When you said that to me this morning, I got so excited. :trolo: As long as it is later the next day and not exactly the next morning - getting a 2-for-1 is important because that's how you get ahead. See kids?...

[Variant] All-In Mono Red

/this is going to be a workspace area for a variant I want to work on. Introduction - why this deck? - why now? Core Concepts and Strategy - the perfect curve - the perfect mana base - redundancy - little synergies, big victories 4 Ash Zealot 4 Boros Reckoner 4 Burning Tree Emissary 4 Firefirst Stri...

It sees fringe play in Modern and Legacy. Its just that the sort of decks that wants it (RDW or White Weenie) aren't good in their respective formats. It used to be a 3-of in the mana-sink variants of legacy burn, but there have been enough reasonable cards printed in the last few years to oust it (...

What is there to argue? The card is amazing if you have around 11 or more effects that benefit from placement in the GY.

Edit. I just have fond memories of the Mono Red midrange deck with 4 Hound of Griselbrand, 4 Mortars and 4 Crucible that GW could never beat. Good times.

I do like a lot of the themes in the deck. MASS creatures, including a lot of bloodrush ones + Domri might be a thing if you're expecting a lot of midrange or control.

Zombies are NOT good right now. BA was much better before rotation; it is garbage now. People still run it because apparently no one who plays the deck shows the slightest innovation or ability to build beyond netdecking ~ although the card was good in the threaten+sac variant, I will give it that.

I was testing a 25 land version, but I know what you mean. I was leaning on Dreadbore, Mortars and Temblor for early removal. Looting, Souls and Unburial Rites for the CA engine. Liliana as well. You certainly get to play a LOT of powerful cards.

Cyan is not as smart as he thinks he is. The reasoning PSully gave, which I agree with is that on an empty board, or in topdeck mode, Walking Corpse is a million times better. Walking Corpse also increased the amount of draws where you went 2 power guy into 2 power guy, which is ironically a MUCH be...

Not only is BA underpowered, but it significantly increases the number of 'do-nothing' draws the deck has, and a lack of proactivity is deadly against the aggro decks of the format. There is a reason PSully played WALKING CORPSE over BA :P
