I haven't found the need. The Aurelia's have been great, that particular tech I snagged from a couple 4-0 Daily lists. It really gives the deck a way to finish things quickly after cleaning up.
In one absurd game versus Bant Control this past weekend, I cast 3 Azorius Charm's over 3 turns, returning my Aurelia to my library during her second attack phase each time. A pretty pathetic way to deal 9 damage, but my opponent had revealed a Supreme Verdict off an Augur and I had to keep Aurelia biting him til I could Searing Spear + Snapcaster the rest of his life away. It was hilarious.

Yeah ~ I like that Aurelia puts the game away so quickly; a lot of decks have problemd doing that.

I saw similar tech on Modo and after thinking about it, I was wondering how much better is it then harvest pyre for a billion. Then I noticed the lack of thought scour and was sad. I promise my next post will contribute.

It's a lot better IMO, the deck is actually functionable across the meta once you take Reckoner out, as opposed to just being good versus certain aggro decks. Reckoner is dead in too many matchups and forces you to sideboard Geist for a swap, taking him out has increased my wins on MTGO tenfold or more. Now it's a real flash deck which helps control matches, and has more sideboard breathing space, and doesn't fold to Abrupt Decay. All for the loss of 4 creatures -- which actually helps your Augur's hit more.

Yeah, that all makes sense. I've been realizing that reckoner has gone from best card in standard into, good card in Red/Green decks. I do think that Flash wants thought scour as it gives your snappys much more value, but I do like how think twice is functional on it's own, especially when you have Jund decks maindecking ground seal and the fact that turn 1 hallowed fountain untapped for the sake of drawing a card while lose you a non-zero number of games against blitz decks.

Is selesnya charm a card anymore? I know nobody is playing it, but should people?
On topic, I second Slayer's stronghold. It's nice being able to apply pressure with augur of bolas in games where you're flooding out. It's also good defensively.

I don't think strictly better means what you think it means (I honestly have no idea what you think it means).

No reason to play the less card over the other in any situation you would want either card?
e.g. Lightning Bolt is strictly better than Searing Spear
Obviously that doesn't apply here because 1: the guild champion is different than the one that was speculated and spoiled on
2: Staticaster has flash and hit every creature with the same name (and is thus different in effect from the old champion)
So yeah, I was using it wrong. I usually try to stay away from "buzz word"-esque lines for just this reason, I'm a scrub.

Why are you playing more Rewind than Dissipate? I understand you can Rewind into Revelation more better, but Dissipate costs less, exiles spells, and doesn't put as many restrictions on you turns after you need to main phase X or Y.
I am playing Esper until the heat death of the universe, but what I have noticed overall about counterspells in Standard now is that Rewind usually looks like a "gotcha!" card, while Dissipate is the hard and fast law man you need when countering spells.

Aetherling has breathed new life into this deck. Came in second place in a Premier event this week online. Was 8-1 and then lost in the finals to a Jund player I'd beaten in the swiss. My updated list is here. http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Digital/Ma ... rn/5457737

Saw the list on What's Happening the other day. What's your opinion on your version versus the SCG winning list. Restoration/augur/snappy shell is very powerful and lets you switch gears more easily, the other list is more "pure" control. Frankly, I think I'm done with reckoner in blue decks.

I like what Reckoner offers against aggro decks, eating their Spear on an empty board or really gumming the board up for them if creatures are out. I also like it against Reanimator for getting early pressure in so you can burn them out if Aetherling never shows up. Reckoner is pretty bad against Jund, and only gives an edge against other Control depending on their list. Sometimes it can help, sometimes hurt. I only run 3 and sideboard them out enough where I could probably say "cut them" but I personally feel like I lean on them a lot right now in the online meta (so much Gruul). Running 3 in a Flash shell lets me still be Control without giving in to the silly UWR beatstick decks that I personally find weak.
I just 4-0'd another Daily with my list, made a couple sideboard changes beforehand. I beat Reanimator, 2 Gruul and RDW. I'll post the link if they put my event on WH. Updated the OP with my current list.
