Biggest pet peeve being a designer: Being asked to do something for free.

Good, fast and cheap. Pick two. - I'm sure this theory can apply to engineering as well.
This happens as a lawyer a lot too :(

My dad was a lawyer, he'd purposefully lie about what he did in polite conversation with strangers. Everyone just kept asking him to write a will/prenup/lease for them as a favor.

Order package from Amazon. It's supposed to arrive Tuesday. Carrier doesn't even attempt to place it in the large parcel boxes for the apt. complex. Delivers other mail, though. Sends package back to post office. Claims he left a notice, but doesn't. Request redelivery for the next day. Spend entire (and only) day off waiting for mail. No mail received, not even the daily spam mail. Send complaint through USPS website. No mail the next day either. Walk the two miles to the nearest post office after work. Explain situation. They don't have the package.

The manager on duty told me that the carrier for that route had gone home (since I was there close to closing anyway) and to call back around 8am tomorrow and explain the situation to the manager there before the earliest carriers leave for their route (not sure what time our mailman usually comes tbh, it varies).

The thing I don't get is, if I didn't get my package... and they brought it back to the post office... it should be there.

...

argh

hopefully if they did steal lose my package, Amazon will definitely refund me... but it was a Black Friday sale ($20 for the usually $60 Tales of Xillia) and I really don't wanna pay full price for the game :(

If they offered to remail it at the same price, I'd even pay extra for UPS/FedEx shipping.

Oh man, ToS. I'm waiting to pick up the PS3 HD Remake when it comes out in a few months.

The sequel sucked though, at least with the Wii controls. I got bored after like an hour.

It's my favorite. Still have my GC copy.
I think I had a 180 hour+ playthrough on it at one point from carrying stuff over multiple times. I haven't played any of the other Tales games though. I tried Phantasia on an emulator but didn't get into it, never bothered with Abyss, and couldn't find Vesperia (the 360 one?) for cheap anywhere.

I'm hoping to get my girlfriend to try it out, especially if they leave in the ability to have a second player control someone during battle. I'd be fine with watching her go through the story and seeing her reactions.

haven't played any others, either. I want Vesperia because I have an Xbox360 but, yeah, 35.00USD used.

So, I'm really liking these new kmc hyper mattes.

Not sure how they'll hold up over a long period, but from what I've seen online they should do okay.

I rock Dragon Sleeves on everything I'm serious about. Mostly because that's what the LGS carries. Never have had ready access to KMCs but I hear they're comparable.

My next project is custom printed playmats. I need to test one out and see if the heat transfer material I have access to will work out for that, but I already found a supplier for blank mats in the same dimensions. If I can make them for at most exactly what you can buy a pre-printed one for you'll all be the first to know.

The kmc mattes are excellent. I used Japanese Ultrapros for a while (they're made differently than the american ones and are incredible sleeves) but the kmc mattes are the next best thing.

I HATE Dragon Shields. They're too thick and feel awful imo.

Well, the thing is, kmc makes 2 different types of matte. THe old matte(think they called it super matte) and the new hyper mattes.
I've never tried kmcs before, and used ultrapro pro-mattes till now, and I am honestly really like them. They've got the non-smooth back, but have a shiny front unlike the pro-mattes, but they shuffle like a dream. Just a tiny bit of friction so it feels good, but not sticky.

And I've heard wonders about dragon shields, I just am really weird about wanting non-smooth/shiny backs(why I always get mattes), which dragon shield doens't do -shrugs-

Also, decided to skip fnm this week in order to decompress and relax before the iq on saturday.

I have been pretty happy with dragonshields, they are a bit thicker than I'd like but the thickness is not without benefit, namely greater protection. I am just a couple shy of having enough of those hard plastic things you get when you order cards online to "sleeve" a deck in those, but that pretty much commits me to pile shuffling only, and while cute would be annoying before I ever actually clacked a card down on the table.

Also this evening I am wearing a fabulous clan t-shirt courtesy of doc. Thanks!

Well, when dailies come back, you'll have a cash cow on hand. After Christmas, I may get modo as well. Like you, I'm looking to make some strides in magic over the next year and I'm assuming that I'm good enough to let modo bankroll(hyperbole) me if I ever get to the point where I'm thinking of travelling more then 4 hours to a tourney.
