And BOOM! satyr. Just played a casual singleton game where satyr was enchanting deadbridge goliath, the goliath dies, so next turn I scavange the goliath onto the satyr, not great just cute.

I like Boon Satyr, that seems like a spicy 2-of. I've been really unimpressed by Fleecemane, but I probably play decks against which it is bad.

Play with nykthos some and you'll get it. My teams been testing devotion decks for a while. Pro Tip: If you play devotion Green, play Ghor-clan Rampager. Xenagos is also a
sideboard card at best. It's only really good vs. control and decent vs. Desecration Demon decks. Bad vs. midrange, terrible if your behind, and very mediocre vs. aggressive decks. I'd put my buddy Yani at 55% to top 8 SCG LA if he wasn't going to be in 'Frisco for that weekend.

LP, I have given a lot of thought to whether I like Figure of Destiny or Grim Lavamancer more (they're my two favourite cards). I think at the end of the day, I am not destined for greatness; but I am pretty good and I certainly know how to get value from the resources I have available.

Well, I have to say...while I did not get to play in Game Day today (pattern=band parent), today was the kind of day that makes it okay.

My son's band marched in championship competition at the University of Central Missouri--the wind was biting cold and played hell with the color guards (trying to spin/toss flags in high winds just sucks) and thus with all of the bands visually. Our band kids managed though to take their division which put them in finals tonight. They took the field tonight and blew the walls out of the stadium; the place absolutely erupted after their performance, which was hands down the best show they have put on this year. They swept the event with a 91+ score, the highest that's been handed out at the event in years, and to top it off my son's percussion section took outstanding percussion (the only section
award) with a 96! It was one of those parent moments that will stick with me forever.

Then to top it off, the percussionists informed me tonight as we were loading up and I was snagging pizza for them before it was scarfed (the front ensemble is always the last done because they have to load their big mallet instruments, gongs and stationary bass drums) that I am now "Daddy Trapp", their official surrogate parent. Call me silly if you will, but those kids brought tears to my eyes.

And thinking my day was complete...I then got a text from my daughter that was full of all the excitement that only a teen can generate. They had their final performance of their musical tonight (which I was down about missing), and after the show the faculty director pulled my girl and another aside. She asked them to co-direct the spring play because of their outstanding leadership during the musical (they were both chorus members but were really active in getting people on track in rehearsals all season).
The girl was utterly ecstatic, and I couldn't be more thrilled for her.

tl;dr, being a parent means having to often accept that you can't do what you want and still give your kids the support they deserve. But every once in a while the universe reaches out and reminds you why you are making the sacrifices you are and how very much said choices mean to the young folks who are looking up to you. Bottom line, a very emotionally-charged and humbling day...perspective can come in pretty amazing ways.

Formats pretty ripe for red decks in paper now. Red would have been a terrible choice this weekend which is why I wanted to play a thoughtseize deck, but the open and the GP going on have lent themselves to a control and devotion heavy meta and with control and half the devotion decks being very soft to red...

The only question is if I play Mono-red Pyromancer, Boros Pyromancer, or R/x Devotion. OPTIONS NIGGA.

I'm starting to play around with a deck idea halfway between pyro-red and devo-red... Slowing down and removing 1-drops, for young pyro, and upping the burn package to 12 main. (And then either keeping 2 chandra 1 hammer, or going 3 chandra).

I kinda want to, cause I noticed how often I seemed to be siding in more burn. I mean, the 1-drops helped a lot vs control, but i only run 4 cacklers as it is, and my zealots/phoenixes (for haste) and weirds as beat-sticks seemed to be doing a lot as well.

I also tnk that going with young pyro and more burn would help with mono-u, which is the only thing that beat me down hardcore at gameday. P$ helps generate my board-state, and more burn helps me keep them off their devotion.

I guess my tentative list with the stuff I have access to at the moment would be:

Was at my local gun range yesterday and someone there had the new Israeli Tavor. I got to shoot a mag's worth threw it. Till now, I had only seen it in gun porn magazines. It weighs nothing in comparison to the AR. Accuracy was very good, but the optic was only a red dot (don't expect super distance shots). The guy let me take it apart and it's extremely easy to clean as it dissembles with great simplicity. Carrying it for long periods of time is better that the AR as it rests comfortably in your forearm and shoulder like a football. If you had issues with the pictures of the mag release (cheap construction); I assure it's heavy polymer construction, thus I found it excellent quality. The bolt release is directly behind the magazine well, thus you can reload much faster than the AR. The Tavor takes all standard AR mags, has a chrome lined barrel (helps for cleaning longer lasting barrel, and Piston driven. If you buy the 18
inch barrel over the 16; it's not noticeable in unwieldiness and gives an additional 1,000 FPS. The only issue I saw was the limited space for attachments and tall/large built folks might find the Tavor to small for shouldering. VERDICT- I will buy this rifle as soon as my wallet allows for a $1800 expenditure.

Did not make it to FNM on Friday due to a flat tire after work. WTF! It was modern to! You ever see those road reflectors in the middle of the road (yellow reflective turtles)? Imbedded in the middle of the tread, thus new tire.

Failed the Ham challenge. There is something to Ham's idea of the challenge. The harder you try it; the more women appear around you. In fact, A gal I knew from the university showed up at my work as a client, thus failing the ham challenge. IT WORKS PEOPLE! Never thought in a million years it would amount to anything but a joke on myself.
