[DGM] Spoilers for 4/12

Putrefy is back so now the only reason to play Murder is if your deck doesn't have Green in it. Now Standard has a reasonable response to Obzedat, more answers to Reckoner, and Lotleth Troll.

Voice of Resurgence generates the token previewed yesterday. A creature that leaves a growing 1/1 behind... a two-mana miniature Thragtusk without lifegain but that punishes opponents who save spells for your turn. As only a 2/2, I suspect it's mostly going to immediately transform into its token form if people don't switch to Pillars as answers for it. It is probably one of the most interesting new cards spoiled so far.

Council of the Absolute is an interesting touch on Grand Arbiter Augustin and is an interesting sideboard card for UW/x Mirrors. Do you shut off and make subsequent copies cheaper? Or stop your opponent from casting Sphinx's Revelation as you freely draw 2 cards? Or do you make your
Planeswalkers dodge telefragging?

The other cards are probably not constructed playable BUT WHO CAN SAY THERE IS NO FULL CONTEXT FOR THEM!?

Flesh 3BG
Sorcery Rare
Exile target creature from a graveyard, put X +1/+1 counters on target creature. X equal to the power of target card you exiled this way.

Blood RG
Sorcery Rare
Target creature you control deals damage equal to its power to target creature or target player.
Fuse (You may cast one or both halves of this card from your hand.)

Renegade Krasis was previewed on GatheringMagic.com, Flesh//Blood was previewed on cardwalker.com.

Renegade Krasis is pretty cool. Limited bomb with lots of evolve guys

Flesh seems bad, blood could be useful

Voice of Resurgence seems super good to me

Putrefy is a cool reprint. Here's hoping Mortify gets the same treatment.

Council of the Absolute naming Sphinx's Revelation would be really funny lmao

What reliably grows Renegade Krasis below Rare? the 2/4, Croconura, Zhur-tar Swine and Rampager, Rust-Shell Scarab, Centaur Token?

Since I don't pay attention to rarity, I didn't know until now that there were going to be multiple legendaries for each guild. Interesting development.

There weren't any secondary Legendary creatures spoiled tonight. The Council is a non-Legendary Creature.

Putrefy is a huge and really sweet spoiler, given that there's little removal in Standard that actually hits all things you'd want to realistically kill, and 1GB is paradoxically less awkward than 1BB.

The new Arbiter is probably worse overall than Meddling Mage, since it still has the host of "what you don't name will kill it anyway" problems but at double the cost. However, in the mirror, shutting off your opponent's Revelations and making yours cheaper is probably the best use and even if you set your opponent's revelation back a turn and yours ahead two that's a massive swing in card advantage and development. I don't think it's going to be a maindeck card, but it's definitely going somewhere in your 75 in a control deck, at least during the set onset.

I keep looking at the Voice and trying to think of a place for it. It doesn't have the creature-type interaction or power to compete with most other
creatures in the format, it just makes opponent's less likely to use removal EOT or do combat tricks with Restoration Angel/now Azorius Charm is a little worse. It leaves behind a growing 1/1 that essentially rewards you for not overcomitting pre-Wrath, but then also doesn't have this interaction with the myriad non-death-inducing removal spells available in Standard. While the effect repeats itself against UW/x decks, a 2/2 for 2 isn't UW's breaking point.

I'm very confused by but think I like Voice of Resurgence, I'm just having a very hard time coming to grips with its place in Standard compared with other cards that are intrinsically more powerful than it. If someone wants to set me right on this card and has come up with a better summary of it than I can, it would be appreciated.

There are quite a few actually. Gatekeeper, 3/3 first strike unleash guy, 2/5 sphinx, corpse blockade, ooze token, nimbus...I don't know if it will be that great even in a limited deck built around it (which won't be that easy in an RtR-Gtc-dgm draft) but it will be solid. You might evolve it one or maybe two times but that could be a huge swing in a game. I think more often than not it will be a win-more, though

At 1GG its cost is also prohibitive in limited
