MTGO Beta

Postby Kaitscralt » Sat Mar 02, 2013 8:16 pm

I think the Beta is quite possibly worse than the original client. It is unnecessary cluttered and has all these annoying pop-ups. Tournaments go to a new window. The gameplay itself was basically the same, although it did seem a little cleaner overall. but I don't think it's worth the horrible interface for that. My god, the tournament room is a disaster. They also decided to reverse the location of everything on screen just to mess with me.

Anyone else tried it?

I like it, although the clutter is annoying, to the point it makes deck building/sideboarding awkward and tedious almost.

and it slows down horribly at the collection screen (although that maybe an error on my end)

Never played the original client mind, so take that with the grain of salt.

I did experience the slow down. Not being able to tell what is in my trade binder on the main collection screen also seems like a glaring oversight. Duno, I gave it a try for a few hours then went back to the original version. I couldn't stand the Beta.

If I traded, I could see that being an issue

were you able to figure out how to select specific versions of cards per chance (only way I could figure was to add all of them and remove the ones I didn't want)

I didn't try that, I was just drafting.

I tried the beta for about 20 mins and then went back to the original. I dread the day when they switch over

Me too my friend, me too.

Although I tinkered with it long enough to know I could learn to deal with it and appreciate its perks.

As long as it doesn't randomly take away something...

Thrillho mentioned something about some friend losing cards to V3's beta, which is why I bowed out of even trying it. :?

During the beta spotlight I played a couple prerelease events and I didn't hate it as much as I had before but I still prefer the current client. I especially don't like the preview being in a different window as I kept losing track of it...

ive been using it for a while now. Im usually a misclicker almost as bad as pv. I beleive the beta has alot to offer someone who is prone to it with different sounds for each individual phase which helps identify when modo is just lagging or you have not clicked yet and the phase marker is conveniently located between the players boards states. I play modo now exclusively with my headset and im never without it. Trading is a little bit different and i do not mind having a separate window just for my games. Yes the tournament room looks like a complete disaster but its actually not bad enough that i would consider going back to the old client. Im rocking the beta and loving it. I think the tradoff are good enough for what you gain.

I've switched back to the old client since the beta freezes when I have more than 1 window open. I can't target my opponent in the old client, however, so I have to switch to the beta whenever I have to target my opponent (doesn't come up that often in limited)

Why can't you target your opponent?

I've been using the beta for awhile. I tried going back to the original client, but I find it less intuitive.

So I installed the thing. Fun fact: every time I start the program, my antivirus says it has detected malicious behavior. Not kidding. ^_^
