Gatecrash's Effect on Modern

Postby Yannaria » Wed Feb 13, 2013 11:20 pm

What cards do you think will see play?

Is your Biovisionary deck putting up real results?
Is UWR Delver more powerful now with Boros Charm?
What do you expect to do well in the coming months?

Boros Reckoner seems to be hot stuff right now in Standard at least, maybe it'll find a home in modern?

It's possible. I haven't seen any Boros Landfall decks around but it could fit in nicely as that three drop. It seems Ace in RDW. White Weenie probably wants it too.

Master Biomancer is great as a 1 of in Birthing pod decks, due to the large amount of creatures in the deck.

really? It seems like it has no ETB effect and podding into something like Sad Robot or Metamorph would be just better in the four drop spot.

Your right there, its more of a utility creature than a pod target, Thalia, Guardian of Thraben gets played in a lot of pod decks as well despite not being a pod target.

right but she's lower on the pod chain and disruptive. Biomancer just makes your guys bigger, and after you've hit four on the chain and you're podding into Kiki-Jiki or Conscripts it really doesn't matter.

i play pod regularly, i agree that biomancer seems terrible, but thalia IS a pod target for eggs matchups, it's one of the few ways to interact with that deck

The Gruul guild has broken through into Modern, with cards like Burning Tree Emissary and Gore Clan Rampager reviving Zoo and even seeing play in Jund.
Standard hobos who play budget garbage should be looked upon with suspicion.

it also allowed for a fringe all-in storm build to emerge using BTE, priest of urabrask, goblin bushwhacker and strom entity to create an absurd army by turn 3

seems crazy unstable.

but I'm not suprised about it reviving Zoo.
t1 Stomping Grounds - Ape
t2 land BTE - Goyf
t3 KotR
is a big game.

it's not THAT unstable, especially when compared to the glass cannon combo decks it is actually kinda reasonable.

Yeah BTE allows for a ton of nonsense
