Long story short, I didn't know his meta, and was spot on. I've had some pretty quality players give me very helpful hints of what to look for.

Do they join the kpaca wagon? Do they vote somewhere else? Do they question my vote, or do they ignore it? All that stuff makes a vote on kpaca more valuable than a simple unvote.

I can't provide examples from this game for the puppy comment... But I can point out the number of votes you garnered for no reason. That points to people centering around you to feel you out, which in turn will allow them to sheep you later should you "pan out" as town to them.
