Something non-intuitive that just occurred to me is that since we're running a bunch of searing bloods now, and more temples, it makes a lot of sense to cut the 4th lightning strike for the final wild slash.

THIS COULD END UP BEING JUST BAD.

But it makes sense in theory and I'm gonna try it out. Also, remember if you do this to add another card in the sideboard for the control matchup as wild slash is aweful there.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

Beatdown is hard, though.

I have a sneaking suspicion Mantis Rider might be popular this weekend, so idk if I'd want to cut a lightning strike. Although lightning strike is pretty poor vs gr devotion and the 4th wild slash would be better there as well as against mono red.

Just watched your Heroic Match, pretty sweet your store does video matches.

Played well but a few questionable lines I thought.

Thought the play with Slash on Mentor when he had 1 confluence up was pretty risky as its a waste against legit any spell. Do you just want to get the protection spells out of his hand while you can? I'm not super familiar with the matchup but it just seems loose because theres such a good chance he has Ajanis, Willing or Strike. Is it the best play to just draw those cards out of his hand ?? I really have no clue so I'd love to hear your thoughts on that play as the deck is getting pretty popular.

That dude got so lucky keeping a 1 lander then drawing 3 in a row.

Also at the end, kinda a wierd double block on the token when he had no cards in hand and basically throwing away Abbot.

I wild slashed the mentor because my play was to draw protection spells out of his hands. I was on the stall with green hornets tokens so I didn't want him to be able to set up a lethal attack giving a mentor or seeker pro green.

The announcers messed up a bit, there was a dice on the mentor tokens that represented there two mentor tokens in play. So it looked like a double block from their perspective, but really it was abbot on one, Hornet on the other.

Cut a mountain for a green source, play the 3rd roast in your sideboard, maybe.

Good Luck.

Ahhh gotcha.

Do you think its worth it to wait and Wild Slash on his turn? Maybe if you snap-pass post combat he goes for the Stike on your end step and you get to Wild Slash in reponse? If he doesnt and you cast it on his turn, he gets the pumps but I think you were blocking with hornet anyway. No way to know he has defiant strike though I guess so maybe it doesnt make sense.

My line of thinking was to stall as long as I could until I could clear his board. The idea of getting a spell out of his hand seemed right at the time. I'd rather him trigger towards on my end step than on a huge swing

I think this is what I will be running.

Really think I want to drop the Become Immense for either another Beserker/Zurgo or the 4th Wild Slash.

How has Become Immense been for everyone?

This is where I'm currently at. 4th Stoke may be too much without tokens, I'll figure that out today.

[deck]
Creatures 15
2 Zurgo Bellstriker
4 Monastery Swiftspear
4 Abbot of Keral Keep
3 Goblin Rabblemaster
2 Pia and Kirin Nalaar

Spells 24
3 Wild Slash
4 Searing Blood
4 Lightning Strike
4 Atarka's Command
4 Exquisite Firecraft
4 Stoke the Flames
1 Roast

Lands 21
4 Wooded Foothills
2 Mana Confluence
3 Temple of Abandon
11 Mountain
1 Forest

Sideboard 15
3 Roast
3 Satyr Firedancer
3 Outpost Siege
2 Destructive Revelry
1 Hornet Nest
1 Arc Lightning
2 Scab-Clan Berserker
[/deck]

I'm not sure why Pia and Kiran Nalaar isn't performing well for you guys, while it's been doing great for me. I'm just going to go with my gut on this one, and play it Saturday. Scab-Clan has tested really well so far against Abzan. That shit beats drown post board, and it's a pretty decent top deck.

Also, interesting find on Hareruya. Deck took 2nd place in the Last Sun 2015 Qualifier.

[deck]

Hm I was thinking about running 3 Zurgo. What is the Last Sun qualifier? A decent enough event to put faith in the results?

I'm basically running 2 Dragon Fodder where the Chandra's parents were but maybe there's enough lower on the curve that Fodder is overkill and parents are better.

I just found that whenever I could cast them, I'd be happier with a burn spell to kill my opponent and the activated ability was at odds with using my mana on other things.

Hmmm I might try to incorporate some of that in these decks and more smaller creatures.

I caught a quick look at a deck tech and it ran Foundry Street Denizen and 3 Zurgo 4 swift 2 bezerker. 4 dragon Fodder n 2 eidolon, 3 rabble

helps put g1s when you are on the draw a bit in your favor if you can drop it. i wanted another card for control decks as well. rabble just felt slow, i felt like i nevefr wanted to cast one on turn 3. outpost siege got replaced because i no longer liked it vs abzan, and i never felt comfortable casting it against control.

rabble also bad in the mirror.

based on the pt today i expect mono red, control, abzan and jeskai decks. eidolon seems good vs all of these

Interesting that as far as I can see, all the red decks at PT are pure red, not splashing for Command.

Are we overvaluing it?

Command version is slightly weaker to the monored mirror because we tend to damage ourselves more? Maybe they were just hedging vs other red decks?

I think this is pretty close to what Sam Black and 2 other 7-0 members of team ultra pro are on

[deck]3 Zurgo Bellstriker
3 Lightning Berserker
4 Eidolon of the Great Revel
2 Goblin Glory Chaser
4 Monastery Swiftspear
4 Abbot of Keral Keep

4 Wild Slash
4 Searing Blood
4 Lightning Strike
4 Exquisite Firecraft
4 Stoke the Flames

20 Mountain
[/deck]

Glory chaser actually seems pretty good when your turn 2 play is removal.

How close do you think you are on the numbers? Glory Chaser tested extremely well for me in another list that i was testing. Generally got in 5 damage in a game if played turn 1. Walks right around Caryatids and shit.

Debating a last minute audible. My list has been testing very well, but you cant ignore the other lists results.

[card]Atarka's Command[/card] is really powerful in the correct list however the more you move away from swarm cards (Pia and Kiran Nalaar, Dragon Fodder, Goblin Rabblemaster and Hordeling Outburst) the worst it gets. In some of the list being posted here your just getting a skullcrack for a much worst land base.

IMO the Red list are more consistence, the Atarka list makes up for the lack of consistency with random huge points of damage with Become Immense and Command + Swarm.

It could be 3 Glory Chaser and 2 Beserker, I'm not quite sure but I saw more Beserker than glory chaser.

I think we've been on the right track here guys but I trust the pros that have been testing in a house 24/7 for the past week.

1-3. Won round 1, lost round 2 to Abzan with the nuts, lost round 3 to Temur bullshits from double stubborn denial, lost 4 to Temur bullshits.

1 loss, and im tossed into the Temur bracket. Lol. No real issues from the deck thus far, couple mulligans on zero landers. Just not my day.

What was the temur deck like ? I played it and raped it but he was running heir, knuckle blade, shaman of great hunt and Stormbreath with a lot of painful mana.

Beat UB thopters, Temur aggro n jeskai tokens so far. Lost to Abzan control having 7 rhinos on the match n mull to 5 g3.

Sitting 3-1 as well, best two abzan and gb devotion. Lost to this crazy abzan return the ranks deck running hangar back walker, grave strength and that two drop from origins that gains life for each creature named the sam.

We have 9 rounds total

9 rounds here too. 3-2 just lost to GR devo. Mulled to 5 g1 then 4 g2.

Up to 12 mulligans on 5 rounds of magic. I swear I'm cursed with little red decks.

Deck is insanely good though. Able to win the over half my games when I've mulled 12 times and my opponents combined mulliganed 2 times. Think I could easily be 5-0 if not for only keeping 2 seven card hands.
