Sony confirmed with the Guardian newspaper that it stopped manufacturing PlayStation 2 consoles worldwide. Stores will continue selling the system, but only until the existing supplies run out. Sony already confirmed that it will stop selling the console in Japan.

Sony released the PlayStation 2 in Japan in March 2000 as a successor to the original PlayStation. The console has since seen subsequent slimmer and more energy-efficient models. Sony has sold more than 150 million of the consoles worldwide, making it the bestselling home game console to date. It has a library of over 10,000 games that sold over 1.52 billion copies.

I heard this a few days ago when the news was that they just stopped production in Japan. Don't really care that much though, every prick and his dog has a PS2 so its not like they will be rare.

I mean, they were obviously still making money on them if they were still making them. Props to them for it being so successful. But yeah, there are actual infinite of them around, so it won't be hard to get one if you do want one
