RDW at new Standard

Postby amcfvieira » Wed Sep 24, 2014 2:02 am

Another deck I want to give a try it's a typical RDW with more card quality, and try a mix of some the best red cards available instead of a more agroo shell.

My first though open to improve and hope I can get your best feedback and experience (for sure more than mine).
Creature Choices:
-1 drop (no heroic creatures because will not be enablers available)
Firedrinker Satyr (best 1 drop available)
Monastery Swiftspear (seems great with a burn package with more than 10 spells)
Foundry Street Denizen (great synergy with Goblin Rabblemaster)

-2 drop
Eidolon of the Great Revel (I really like it)
Satyr Firedancer (Good against Other Creature decks)
[card]Altac Bloodseeker[/
card] (seems great with a burn package with more than 10 spells)
War-Name Aspirant (fit in the curve, with a upside and easy to enable)
Borderland Marauder (same above but I think worst)
Jeering Instigator (combat trick)
Phyrexian Revoker

-3 drop
Goblin Rabblemaster (don't need introduction)
Prophetic Flamespeaker (maybe it's his time)

-4 drop
Purphoros, God of the Forge (great synergy with Goblin Rabblemaster, hard to remove and have potential to be a super finisher against deck with low removal , mana sink, etc)
Fanatic of Mogis
Iroas, God of Victory

-5 drop
Stormbreath Dragon (huge, haste and protection
from white)
Planeswalkers
Chandra, Pyromaster (Card advantage, evasion, and a Finisher in a deck with Lightning Strike and Stoke of Flames)
Sarkhan, The Dragonspeaker (an attacker with evasion, removal)
Possible Splash to White
Chained to the Rocks(removal)
Soldier of the Pantheon
Great choices for sideboard cards
I think this will be a good core for the deck, if I was missing something good please tell me.

My first Thoughts are something like this:
Decks
[deck] RDW Splashing w[/deck]

[deck] RDW[/deck]
All criticism that help to improve or change the focus of the deck to a competitive pastern will be appreciate.

After some opinions in the Mono Red Scrumper topic, the list I will go try to test this weekend will be this:

[deck]RDW Splashing w[/deck]

I will try to play it in a tempo style deck. Splashing Chain to the Rocks because seems for the list I see in internet that will be many huge creatures nice to removal with only one mana, and win tempo with that. Prophetic Flamespeaker and Purphoros, God of the Forge will be in testing, and maybe I cut it after, but want to see how they will work. I have great
faith in Purphoros :grovel:

Need to build a sideboard, for the deck. Think in Satyr Firedancer + Searing Blood + Chained to the Rocks for creature decks. Banishing Light + Hammer for control. Phyrexian Revoker for multi decks, essencial green that can remove him. Think in reprisal, deicide, Pillar, Magam Spray, Tormod's Crypt.
Guys, really need help to construct a stock sideboard.

If you're splashing white then I think Iroas should be tested as well.

Planeswalker, right? I can test it too. Thanks for your idea, I will put that in creatures list.

my afternoon thoughts in the sideboard (with lack of experience against new decks):

[deck]Sideboard[/deck]

My explanation for the Sideboard:
Tormod's for grave strategy's that I'm something afraid - maybe much reactive but I'm not sure yet how we can go around this deck
Banishing Light for Planeswalker's decks that are quick and decks with 1 o 2 win condition without Hexproof
Satyr Firedancer+Searing Blood for creature
decks, maybe I can run Magma Spray in this spot, but the Synergy of Satyr Firedancer+Searing Blood deserve a test
Hammer for control
Phyrexian Revoker for multipropose, planeswalker's, fetch, activated habitability's, etc
Chain to the rocks to win tempo against Midrange decks, and in general remove bif creatures...

I'm unsure about 4 Horde Ambushers and 3 Jeering Instigators. Seems a bit many of both.
