BERSERK THREAD

Postby Gatts » Thu Jul 31, 2014 1:24 am

Thoughts or comments on Kentaro Miura's masterpiece of manga, Berserk?
Speculation on upcoming Berserk chapters?
This is the tread for that.

I believe they have announced that chapter 336 comes out August 8th. Hopefully they'll be going back to the ship. Landing at Elfheim finally would be nice.

I prefer the series when it was just Casca and Guts, while I did enjoy the band of the hawk arcs these new characters just make it feel so "shounen".

I can see why you would say that. I really hated Casca myself.
My favorite part of the manga was when Guts was wandering on his own, hunting apostles. The Tower of Conviction Arc was possibly the most depressing thing I've ever read.

When I was looking for the animated Ganz project (which was cancelled) I ended up stumbling on the MMV.

This one is great as well (attack of the titan - filled with spoilers)

I'm thinking of getting a berserk playmat printed. Any scene from the manga that you think would make a cool mat?

A beherit (I'm bias because I own one at home), the artwork in berserk is amazing so you'll have lots of options - just use what you like, me? well I like my Becchi ;-)

- - - - - -

On that note - I wonder when Guts beherit will activate and why? I can't imagine berserk ended very happily (unless they really embrace this shounen style) so I think it will play a huge role.

Maybe it will start a fight between Guts and Skull Knight because Guts knows that Skull Knight is collecting behelits for his new sword of resonance, and he kept his for himself. Maybe Skull Knight will cut the Becchi with the sword of resonance creating some portal mumbo-jumbo.
I know the manga sometimes spells it beherit, the movie subs spell it behelit so I think that is the correct spelling. Fan translations really suck sometimes.

Berserk v38c336 was released today, it was good - but I can't say I really care for anything beside Casca and Guts right now.

My favorite arc is still the original one that introduced Guts and the Godhand. It was gritty, pulpy and quite fun.

Miura has yet to top the Golden Age arc.

While the Golden Age Arc was great, I really like the Tower of Conviction period in the manga. That was probably the darkest part of the entire manga besides the eclipse of course.

Tower of Conviction wasn't bad. At least it advanced the plot. Gutts fighting sea monsters for years on end doesn't :(

Are the Berserk movies they made any good?

It took me awhile to get use to the cell-shading (not saying that the cell-shading was bad here, I just dislike cell-shading overall), but I prefer it too the original 25 episode series (same for the 6 Hellsing, I highly recommend watching the remake).

The Hellsing remake films are about 100% better than the 13 episode series, especially since the 13 ep series sort of just gave up in the middle of the narrative whereas the remake covers the manga faithfully.

The Berserk films are decent, though I actually prefer the 25 episode series since you get more time to know all of the characters. Griffith's motivations for doing....what he did....are more explained in the series as well.

I like the movies, but the best way to experience is definitely reading the manga. I like to use the movies as an introduction for friends.

Just read chapter 336. It was pretty good, but I just want Miura to get Guts and co. to Elfheim sometime this lifetime. This suspense is some gay fucking shit.

No way, I had no idea.
Actually, I did watch all the golden age arc movies with my 11 year old brother though. Probably a bad idea, but he like it.
