RDW is a bad choice in a large paper tournament because it doesn't put up results online? Rdw is bad because Heal had to change his paper list to something different when he played online?

Wut.
The online metagame generally catches and hold onto strong paper builds really quickly - for instant when Shoota produced that Flamespeaker deck it was "the" online burn deck for the week, but people notice it wasn't preforming well so it disappeared so I'll assume Heal's RDW list went through the same brutal process.

Anyhow assuming that the Online and Paper worlds are completely unrelated, what critical advantages does RDW offer against on open field that R Burn doesn't?

- - - - - - - - -

How were the results for the events
Khaospawn and Dpaine88?

I'm x-2 right now.

Lost to shitty mono black due to massive flood. Lost to a really shitty affinity deck because I can't understand how to cast Spree for more than 1.

MTGO let me select all FOUR Frogmites on the board, I tapped my mana, and only one Frogmite died.

I've been raging in the Clan thread about it. I'm attempting to calm down and at least finish 2-2 to save face. I do really like the deck though.

Raph Levy is apparently on Burn this weekend for modern. I'll be curious to see how his decklist stacks up to what you all have been testing.

While I always do hope for burn too do well in these events, I also fear the repercussion of hate :tears:

- - - - - -

That said I finished 4-0 in my DE

G1: UB Fae - Yeah...

G2: UR Twins - M1 would of been over "if" he had Twins in hand but you know what they say "If is the paradise of the fool" (don't worry I'll get over that line soon )

G3: Mirror vs The Great Hocking - M1: He kept a greedy 1 land hand (which had Goblin Guide, so I guess it wasn't THAT greedy) and never saw his 2nd land (still manage to bring me under double digits though) - M2: I saw [card]Dragon's Claw[/card] in my opening hand, along with Destructive Revelry...

G4: Junk - :evillol:

I played this list and lost in the second Round in an 8-Man to UR Delver (I beat Merfolk 2-0 in Round 1). It was definitely my fault for this loss- I was clicking too fast and missed my chance to play a Burn spell EOT for lethal in both games. I'm such an idiot... This would never happen in real life.....

[deck]
Creatures 14
4 Goblin Guide
4 Eidolon of the great Revel
4 Hellspark Elemental
2 Mogg Fanatic

Spells 26
2 Shrine of Burning Rage
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Rift Bolt
4 Lava Spike
4 Searing Blaze
4 Skullcrack
4 Flames of the Blood Hand

Land 20
20 Mountain

Sideboard 15
3 Molten Rain
3 Searing Blood
3 Smash to Smithereens
2 Relic of Progenitus
2 Dragon's Claw
2 Relic of Progenitus
[/deck]

I'm probably going to cut Shrine for Shard Volley...

That deck is a thing of beauty - I'm running the same creature base and I also vouch for Shard Volley, in regard with UR delver - I'm actually running 1x VF in my SB because some people didn't get the memo that geist is horrible - it also does a number vs UR Delver as well :)

I also think you get use too MTGO sooner then later (try and avoid blaming the shuffler for everything though, its actually quite fair unlike in RL where people can get away with 20 lands decks running 4 drops), look at closed/biddingmaster he has a Modern DE finish record of 2W, 1D, 8L and he is still going.

Yeah 1-1 = 2 booster, 2-1 = 3 booster and 3-0 is 5 boosters, they're all worth crap right now though so even if you sell them you will be at a loss (only way to profit in 8-Man's right now is 2-1 or greater - the profit at 2-1 is less then 1 ticket btw).

In regards with hording, I've been hording over 250 boosters now - but it doesn't look like it will payoff  hopefully once the 30th hit and you can't win THS, BNG, JOU anymore the price will go up.

I'm starting to make my peace with the "shuffler." I'm beginning to mulligan more and I'm not going to dip below 20 land anymore. I do like being able to recognize when I make a mistake or when a game loss is entirely my fault.

I was really tired yesterday when I was playing, and I was actually breaking a personal rule of mine - Don't ever play tired. I make mistakes, don't catch them and then I tilt (or I'm just
ready to tilt at the slightest case of variance).

Some notes: I'm currently 1-2 in a DE. I'm so sick of losing.... (that will be the only negative comment I'll allow myself right now)

-I'm convinced that Searing Blood just isn't playable without fetches.

- Sideboarding is starting to confuse me since I'm generally boarding out Burn for conditional things like Smash, Dismember, Relic of Progenitus. I think it's time to beef up the sideboard with 3 or 4-ofs and board minimally - like in Legacy Burn. I'm dying too often with a grip of things I can't use.

- Hellspark is either really amaze-balls, or unplayable (x/4's, ScOoze, First Strike, ping ability, etc), but then again, Mogg Fanatic can be also. I want to get a playset of Vexing Devils and try them out.

That's all for now.

Solid score dpain88

@Khaospawn:

1) I don't use smash vs Delver because they only run one artifact
2) I used devil for a very long time, they're excellent for racing but match up poorly vs lifegain decks and heavy removal decks.
3) Agreed about HSE being either awesome or horrible, I do like how he can exile himself though.

1 Back to Nature[/deck]

Its basically my Rg version of Hock's list but addressing all the primary weakness.

Robots: 1 Forked Bolt and 2 Mogg Fanatic
Twins: 2 Mogg Fanatic and 2 Flame Javelin

Also created my own self-imposed rule regarding Shard Volley, 18 = 1 Shard, 19 = 2 Shard, 20 = 3 Shard and 21 = 4 Shard
Side Note: Modern GP:

20 Burn decks made it into day two (source) no top8's which is great news for burn grinders

Lots of BGx decks in top8 (no surprise), 2 infect , 2 Robots and 1 Blue Moon

ZERO twins, UWr or Pod

You only have 27 Burn spells too.

Gah - I must of used my old 8 creature list from prebanning as a template and forgot to change the numbers.

Cheers - I made the fixes

I did that with my last couple of lists, which is how I was able to spot it in yours, lol

I just lost to a Naya Kiki/Angel Scapeshift deck. In Game 3, I flooded and died with 9 Mountains on the table, which I find funny since I had more lands than the 'ramp' player.

Though I will say this - Vexing Devil and Combust pleased me very much in that match.

Also, whats a Qualifying point?

Ugh what the flying fuck...

Just lost a game 3 to UWR twin/Geist.

They start with Leyline of Sanctity in play...

That card is utter horse shit.

Gotta win next two now.

Welp, I'm done playing for the day. I think I won just over 50% of my matches today, which is pretty terible. I think once the mechanics of actually clicking the right things on MTGO become second nature to me, my win percentage will begin to rise. I did lose some games due to misclicks and general unfamiliarity with the program. However, I am very happy with my newest version of shittyfetchlessburn.dec build so far. I wouldn't have got to this point without all the losing I did today.
shittyfetchlessburn.dec
[deck]
Creatures 15
4 Goblin Guide
4 Eidolon of the great Revel
4 Vexing Devil
3 Mogg Fanatic

Spells 25
2 Forked Bolt
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Rift Bolt
4 Lava Spike
4 Searing Blood
4 Skullcrack
3 Flames of the Blood Hand

Land 20
20 Mountain

Sideboard 15
3 Molten Rain
3 Combust
3 Smash to Smithereens
4 Satyr Firedancer
2 Dragon's Claw
[/deck][/
spoiler]

Firedancers + Mogg Fanatics did mucho work against Affinity. Holy shit, it wasn't even fair for the guy.
