Pretty sure someone had insider knowledge on this one. The price of bitterblossom always raised a bit just before a B&R announcement, but this time was different - most online shops were bought out completely.

Yeah. The buyout happened early last week. Talking on Thursday with my EDH group I felt very confident saying that Bitterblossom was unbanned this time around just thanks to that.

I am pissed about the banning of Deathrite Shaman. It was not that bad on the format and it dies REALLY easy.

The buy out of Bitterblossum was insider trading at it's finest. Shops I frequent were called repeatedly to see if they had any and bought out. I think this buy out will bite them in the ass hard as their are great cards from Standard that murder Fairies. Has everyone forgot about Volcanic Fallout? I played fairies back in the day and it was oppressive. Chump blocking constantly was a huge advantage. This will be a flash in the pan, but have irritating complications for agro. I wonder if Tron will have issue with Mistbind Clique Locking them out of their mana.

I still don't know why Wild Nacatl was banned in the first place.

Volcanic Fallout was oppressive, or faeries were oppressive? 'Cause those cards definitely shared a standard format and faeries were definitely still a deck after Fallout was printed (not that I minded the help against them).

Funnily enough, I saw a few Bitterblossoms in the case for $35 on Friday. I wanted the card, but thought that the talk of an unban was silly, and spent my FNM winnings on a fourth Stormbreath Dragon and some sleeves instead, thinking that it would be back down to $20 in a week. I was wrong.
The DRS ban wasn't completely necessary, but it wasn't bad either. While not super broken, the card was completely format-defining, and while some people were okay with this, Wizards, apparently, did not like the way in which it warped Modern.

You clearly have never played with or against the card.

Deathrite Shaman was a 1cc Planeswalker and was the workhorse of basically every deck that could play at least two of its abilities. I love the card and was wrong about it not being good enough when I first saw it (to be fair I was only thinking about standard at the time and forgot that formats with fetchlands existed), but having 3 good abilities and the ability to attack and block on one card for one mana when you're not playing with similarly completely insane cards is not something you should have access to.

any speculations on the April bannings/unbannings? People seem to think Sword of the Meek, Bloodbraid Elf, Ancestral Visions, and Chrome Mox all deserve a shot to come off, though I don't really trust the people I hear that from (in person or on sites).

I think visions is fine with out blood braid elf, that was why visions was banned in the first place ponder/preordain a visions to the top blood braid to draw 3 was insane. sword, elf should never come off unless they ban thopter foundry. mox is a maybe but that's pushing the envelope. but I may be biased there...I used to play all in red, but with out seething song =[.
