Yo, does anyone wanna test the new Modern format on MTGO? It won't be officially implemented until the 28th but we can play it in Freeform. Posting in the bans thread as well.

You can PM me on MODO : timmytaplands

How many of us remain playing? I finally managed to get myself back into dailies prepping for Regionals.

Meh, just prep for Storm, Twin, Junk, Robots and Burn. My UWR Burn deck has been failing so I might go back to RWB and try some Bloodchief Ascensions. Either that or let the madness take me and play UWR Delver/Geist.

I can prep for any 3 of those decks but the other 2 will beat me. I preferred the all-Delver meta, at least I could prepare for it :)

Welcome back MDU.

I've actually started playing modo a lot now, mostly losing money on limited but I did qualify for the PTQ with 1 attempt which is nice.

I plan on getting into standard online soonish.
You gotta understand, I love the beatdown. I really do. I always have.

I'm going to wait to see how the meta shakes up with the new set before I go back into standard.

P.S. Pedros: you've return my cards which is great but you forgot to grab back your own cards (pm me).

So I finally got to a point where I don't need to immediately dump all my packs to bots to keep my tix train alive. How long does it usually take for pack prices to rise? I already see M15 being 4 tix, so I guess not too long after they aren't the main draft format (and KTK won't be drafted w/ DTK). And how long should you hold onto them? Should you sell them when they hit about 4 tix (and still in standard rotation?) I'm guessing that might not be the case for KTK because of fetches, siege rhino, and a few other cards played in modern & legacy.

Bought into modo yesterday, and so far I split the finals of an elmination queue, and 2-2 in four daily events.
I can't tell if my deck (Kevin Jones's most recent jeskai) isn't fit for the online meta or if I'm just bad

If someone can top 8 an SCG w/ a list, then it isn't the lists fault, even if the list isn't perfect.

Don't take it as me trying to call you out, but I think it is important to realize that a very very large portion of games can be won by pure skill. I still run into people in the winning brackets of dailies still on Sidisi Whip...and that deck is extremely outdated. But the shell is competitive enough that you can just outplay your opponents. So I think deck choice (if you pick a recent winning list...which you did), the 59th and 60th card maindeck, and the last two sideboard slots are just a few percentage points of the games that you win. A majority of the wins you get online are from outplaying your opponent.

Yeah at first I thought it was just bad variance (and it's happening quite a bit so I think that argument is valid) but I'm down 40$ on tickets to events I got no returns from, over 2 days. I'd say it was worth it if I had learned anything, but after serious hindsight I feel like I'm playing perfectly. That's why I was starting to doubt the deck.
In any other game, I could turn to replays of professional players to get inside their head and understand what they do, but there's a huge lack of information in this game.

But I'm glad my ego got taken down a few notches from permanent 2nd place at fnm to actual fish.

Jeskai's just a weird deck to play and can be draw dependant.

My win rate went up substantially when I dropped Mantis riders for Ascendancies fwiw.

been destroying with RDW online. you just get these nutty draws that beat any matchup lol. And my build has 4x wild slash, lightning strike, and stoke, so i usually always have outs.

Would you guys keep 3x Mountain, 1x Eidolon, 2x Dragon Fodder, 1x Lightning Strike? Not sure how aggressively I need to mulligan to 1 drops.
