Ugh. I was floored when LMD flipped town. Bad luck that he targeted the only person who would give him an obviously fake ability. Like... c'mon Iso. Why the double-vote? He wouldn't have been lynched but for that. I assumed the scum had a redirector after LMD was lynched.

I had Pie early into Day 3 and knew then that he was able to send another player a message. rcw I did not suspect at all (until his claim) and Kaze played very well this game as well. Good work guys.

The town was made up of way too many anti-town roles to the point that I was beginning to wonder if you'd developed a 1-scum setup. Maybe 2. The neighbourhood alone set the town up for three dead townies. Yanni/GR's role was a really strange implementation of vig that I'm not a fan of because it's inherently swingier without any added skill.

Mostly I'm disappointed that rezombad's role couldn't rez me during the Day.
When he said,
Stardust, since I see you in here. Pay attention to the game.
I was so excited and couldn't wait for Iso to get back! But instead he just never got to fire. :(

So the 2 most obvious things I could have done better:

1. Vanilla Town claim. In a game like this, I needed to come up with SOMETHING.
2. If I was pushing Tube as scum so hard, I should have had Pie as the no-questions #2 scum in my mind due to his buddying Tube - instead of a "weak read"

Anything else?

I was really hoping that when Iso fucked up and didn't skip night 2 that there was a reason.
You post on dtr? Cool? Honestly, I don't know who posts there and who doesn't.
I actually read that site quite a bit but its mostly because a lot of the people I used to interact with on MTGS are over there.

Was there any way I could have avoided being lynched on day 1? I felt like Tube killing Z sealed my fate and splashed too much doubt on me. Being true vanilla town made it even worse when it came time for claims.
You should have responded to my gambit. I was already on my way to reading you as town, but I needed you to give me something, and you opted not to. You should try to be more active in actually finding and killing scum (easy to say, I know).

Also, you weren't vanilla. The fact that you kept repeating that kind of drove me crazy and made me think you must be hiding other abilities.

[quote="rezombad » Fri Dec 06, 2013 3:22 pm":

and please, interpreting what I think about what you think is a fucking stupid strike against me, and you know it.
The vig didn't bother me that much, personally. The only reason I though you were scummy was because pie was buddying you so fucking hard.[/quote]
Scummers buddy townies all the time. If it's blatant, it's probably not scum on scum.

Day 1 you played really well. Once you caught my attention with the vanilla claim, I read back a couple pages and then noticed that you failed to take many strong stances. That'll fly in the early game, but as the game developed it became pretty clear that you weren't reading people at all (ie: that your reads were fake).

Stardust:

I would have responded to your gambit if you told me it was really hypothetical.

Is having a neighbor chat considered an ability? I didn't have any direct abilities that I could use on another player, so I thought that made me vanilla.

It wouldn't have been much of a gambit if you knew it was a gambit.

Yes. Any abilities other than "You may vote" is distinctly not-Vanilla.

zeman, you were awesome. So town it hurt and taking a great approach at scum hunting (though I don't remember who you even suspected). TubeHunter needs to get over his OMGUS thing. Looking forward to playing with you again - I think you'll become a force to be reckoned with quickly.

Really? You'd already dodged the question. When I pushed you for an answer, that's when you believed I was telling the truth. Then you dodged it again. Like, you felt townie in so many ways, but your approach to the game, your apparent mindset, and (let's be honest) the fact that you were TubeHunter's neighbour all pointed to you being scum.

I had you as null day 1 Kaze, but you actually started to look more and more town to me as the game went on. I think your more reserved approach will be a strength as you didn't overextend yourself like you've mentioned doing in the past.

@ Ham. To be fair to you, you were in a pretty horrid spot for reasons outside of your control. I don't think the gambit issues to you was going to help you either. Next time bud.

Yanni gets mislynched. A lot. Want examples? How about this game! I don't recommend this strategy.

Like Z said, you got unlucky with how things shook out. You'll be fine.

So I should just play that way as either faction yeah? That sort of style of writing is my default, should I moderate it somehow?

You are Fenrir, Unleashed Wolf of the Ván.

You are mafia.

Once per Night, you or one of your comrades may perform the Nightkill. You may not use an ability the same Night you perform the Nightkill.

Once per Night, you may target a player. If that player targets you or one of your comrades on that Night, you will kill that player. Kills performed this way can not be stopped, blocked, or protected against.

You may speak with your comrades in pre-game and Night phases in this QuickTopic.

You win when the Frost Giants have overtaken Asgard.

Please confirm in the game thread.
I'm Fenrir, Unleashed Wolf of the Ván.

I am town.

Once per game, at Night, I may choose to stay awake. That Night, if a player targets me, they will die. The kill cannot be stopped, blocked, or protected against.[/quote:

Eh. I would have just pushed the "formatting is a bullshit argument" angle harder, anyway. Because it is. I wasn't kidding.

I'm trying to outline and fix some of my weaknesses as a scumhunter this game, and a big one is deathtunnelling my first scumread. Plus I feel applying pressure everywhere is more productive than my old strategy of deathtunnels, copious amounts of <3, and fuck bitches fuck bitches fuck bitches. Plus that playstyle generally makes people sad and discourages newbies from playing again, and Iso specifically told me not to be a belligerent asshole this game(I PM'd him pregame asking where the boundaries of "sportsmanship" lie.) So, yeah.
This wasn't a lie.

as long as you PM the mod with an action before the deadline or before thread is opened, depending on mod policy and circumstances, the final action is the one used.

it'd be fair if a cop decided to scan someone n1 and changed their mind by the end of the 3-day deadline to allow them to change it. I've done that as PRs multiple times.

and z/other newbies, the best piece of advice I can give you for mafia is to be consistent in your style across any faction. if you act overzealous as vanilla townie in every game, and get quiet one game, you're either scum or a PR. just be mindful of your meta, and if you fall into specific tells, shake it up a bit. you don't want people to instantly read you, one way or another it gets you killed.

also, occam's razor.

i felt that i played ok this game. i tried to make a case against pie day 1(?) but i allowed kaze to convince me that he was town and i fell victim to confirmation bias on rezombad for a bit. i had rcw pegged as scum near the end but the rest of my team was wrong.
