Dies to Removal

Someone teach me to blend images better. Gradient tool blows.

1.) Create separate layers for each image you want to combine
2.) Choose which one you want to be the topmost image and which one you want to show through from below and arrange the layers in that order
3.) Tweak the position of your layers to get them overlapped the way you want them. Do this by having the top layer selected, then going to the Opacity slider (clicking on the arrow beside Opacity 100% in the Layers palette) and sliding it down until you can see the layer underneath through it...now that you can see their relative positions, select the layer underneath then move it around until it lines up as you want it to with the upper layer. Once you have the layer positioned as you
want it, select the top layer again and slide to opacity back to 100% to opaque out the underlying layer again.
4.) Create a Layer Mask on the top one by clicking on the Layer Mask button (rectangle with a circle in it on the bottom of the Layers palette); you will see the layer mask appear on that layer in the Layers palette
5.) Click on the layer mask so that you are working on it rather than the picture, then choose a brush (generally a soft-edged airbrush style brush to give nice fades unless you are trying to cut a fine edge); a brush hardness of 70-80% is a good place to start, and set flow to around 70%. Resize the brush as appropriate for what you're working on.
6.) With black as your foreground color, begin "painting" on the layer mask; what this does is mask away the top layer wherever you paint, letting the layer underneath show through. Paint away until you have what you want showing through from the underneath layer. If you go too far, just switch the foreground color to
white and you will then be bringing the masked layer back wherever you paint.
7.) Once you have it all as you want it, Layer >Flatten Image merges everything into one background layer that can be saved as jpeg.

There are bazillions of illustrated and vid tutorials out there--as well and dozens of books--devoted to working with layers and layer masks. It is one of the cornerstones of Photoshop, and well worth learning your way around as it allows you to combine images seamlessly, control effect layers, mask color and so on.

Lost game 1 to RWu Aggro. Both games I beat him down to 1 life before he stabilized. Both games I clutched the game winning Hellrider. Both games I was stuck on 3 land. I hope this isn't a taste of things to come.

Speaking of things to come - red's crank. Just had to say it.

Cocaine's a helluva drug.

Wow...just got 1-2 dropped from a daily. Playng Gruul aggro, lost first round to grixis control, i just drew shitty and got flooded. Round 2 was esper control but the guy played slow and timed out lmao. Serves him right for miracling terminus 3 fuckin' times.

Round 3 was against jund midrange. Game 1 i get a good start with Stromkirk, and a BTE - LM chain, attack for six. Next turn i go BTE into boar, swing for 9. He putrefies the boar then miracles a bonfire next turn for 3 and wipes my board. Better to be lucky than good i guess. Game 2 I manage to grind him out with pyreheart wolf and manage to catch him with an emtpy hand while I drop a volcanic strength on a boar to get him down to three, then hellrider for the win next turn.

Game 3 i keep a slowish hand but it had 3 land, two reckoners, a pyerheart wolf, and a burn spell. I grind him out like crazy, with him playing two nighthawks (one gets killed blocking a reckoner
i gave first strike) and attacking in the air with the nighthawk every turn. On top of this, he plays not one, not two, not three, but all. four. fucking. thragtusks. I eventually get him to 11 thinking i had him with a GHC in hand but he blocks everything and abrupt decays the guy i blood rush (i had no choice, i didn't have lethal without the blood rush so i HAD to use it) and get him down to 3 with no cards in hand. Guess the game is easy when you have 50 life lol

Welp, just blown my chance for day 2. I'm now 3-3. All of my losses came from being stuck on 3 land while holding a Hellrider. Fortunately, the losses are not from play mistakes so I'm not beating myself up too much. Shit happens, I guess.

Here's some awesome news : I had a conversation with the Red Mage himself, Patrick Sullivan! Can't wipe this mile long grin from my face right now. We talked about.....Red stuff! He asked me what my deck and record was and when I told him, he goes, "Let me guess - stuck on 3 lands with a Hellrider for lethal?"

Regrettably no Magic for me this weekend other than picking up my DotP Scavenging Ooze pack today. No spoils worth noting...there's a green monstrosity that gets +4/+4 if you have 8 or more lands in play, but nothing Constructed-worthy other than the ooze.

Anyway, spent Thursday night and Friday morning doing highlights and colored hair streaks for my daughter (peacock blue into hot pink with interposing purple...came out awesome and I'll post over in the gallery thread later). It turns out that hair dyes behave a lot like silk (protein) dyes, so my experience in dye chemistry makes me pretty handy with such things. The girl had two huge birthday parties to attend on the same (Friday) night, so I even took her to the mall to pick up a new outfit after we grabbed gift cards for her friends. I then spent most of Friday evening play taxi service to one party and then the other. The 2nd party started back up at the mall, so
I dropped her there (the girl's mom had 12 teen girls doing a mall scavenger hunt--utter teen chaos!) and hit the cool (and cheap!) decorating store there to grab wall deco for our theater room. I wasn't into cooking by the time I got home (the 2nd party was a sleepover so my daughter was gone for the night), so my son and I went to Outback and splurged on some good steaks.

Saturday was devoted to helping friends prepare for their annual summer blowout. The "Bill B Que" is in it's 8th year, and grows more outrageous with each iteration. After helping with some general yard work, I spent much of the afternoon as one of the primary construction directors for the 20'x24' stage (see pic) for the band that will be starting up on the afternoon of the 3rd. The party will still be going on Independence Day morning as the last folks toddle off and we throw together breakfast for everyone who crashes over rather than chance driving impaired.

I'm now home, ready for a shower and nap unless I
keep myself moving!

So tomorrow is a Modern tourney at the LGS. I'm bringing Khaos' KDW win and not giving two shits. I replaced the Spears with good ole Lightning Bolts and I'm not even bringing a sideboard. I'm going aggro on their faces and they can lick my sack if they don't like it.

Replaces UC in the side as it doesn't tie up mana; downside is that it can eat you up. It makes wraths/sweeps a 2-edged sword...early game they don't want to Verdict you because you get to draw lots of cards, but late they can kill you if you can't turn the card off. Really twitchy, complex card.

In the matchups where you want this, there really isn't a downside. However, with all the key black aggro cards rotating, there simply might not be a deck for it.

love it. That's exactly the kind of stuff I like to see for black. That said, it may not see play after rotation if there are no replacements for Gravecrawler and other recursive threats.

Blood Scrivener's ability is a replacement effect, so you would replace the instance of draw 1 with the draw 2.

yeah but would it replace only ONE draw, or would it replace ALL the draws that you were getting? (aka multiple creatures dying)

I know that if you have two scriveners out thye stack and you draw 3 total.... just have no idea how it works with multiple simultaneous draw triggers...

Only the first draw trigger.

They check on resolution of the triggers, which stack...so only the very first trigger will find you with no cards in hand; every other trigger will check and see cards in hand.
