I took the atarka red mana base and threw in a bunch of a goblins, atarka's command and 1 of become immense. I like it a lot so far.

Just got back from prereleasing. Got foil chandra in my 7 card pack, and went 5-2, did not lose any game where I untapped with her. At least 3 times it went chandra, untap, double dragon fodder. It may have just been my pool, since I saw no compelling reason to pollute the purity of 17 mountains.

Red has so far seemed much better than the other 4, 6 of the top 8 decks started red, one splashed it, and the winner was a nuts elf deck, carrying 2 languish, and three of the "non-elves get -2/-2" spell, the new lord, and plenty of good forest folk to back it up.

I had a great time at the midnight prerelease too mainly because i arrived there half drunk and the store offered a beer to the players. I had 13-15 good red cards and the option to splash white or black and play a normal aggro deck, but i also opened 2 Thopter Spy Network and the drunk part of me wanted to make them work. So i built some kind of U/R aggro that played some good artifacts (Pia and Kiran, Thopter Engineer, Hangarback Walker) and some shitty ones (Gold forged sentinel,Guardian of Meletis,Brawler's Plate,Alchemist's Vial, Foundry of the Consuls) in order to enable two Spy Networks and two Reclusive Artificer.
In the end i won because it turned out that spy network was unbeatable everytime it was online, and the times it didn't show up the rest of my deck was usually good enough to compensate the presence of crappy artifacts.
I think spy network could go up in price, the card is just absurd.

Note: said player also had Sentinel of the Eternal Watch and Archangel of Tithes which he of course cast both games.

Try losing to a smug shitty player due to mana flood who afterward tries to give advice on what you should do to improve. This is a guy in Standard that believes Yasova Dragonclaw is the best card in the format and argued with a judge that Elspeth's -3 should not be able to kill Stormbreath Dragon because it has protection from white. I took satisfaction that he went 1-3 after.

At least I pulled Liliana and Nissa, and got to kill Archangel of Tithes with the kill spell that has the art of her getting killed. I also pulled 12 elves with two copies of Elf Gary, so yay elves.

The rares in my pool were Goblin Piledriver in my seeded pack, two Shivan Reef, the white 7 cmc spell that makes tokens, Hixus, Herald of the Pantheon, and Honored Heirarch. Unfortunately my white pool was a bit short on playables and had way too high of a curve so I switched between RG and RU throughout the night based on my matchups. I was even playing Herald as a Grizzly Bear. But hey, a 6/10 deck can get you there as long as you play well enough.

Ended up trading off my Piledriver for $30 worth of Modern stuff (blasphemy around here). Got four packs as prizes and cracked them since I never get to draft in paper. Rewarded with Day's Undoing.

It's probably bad when the first metric I'm analyzing a card with (after what it does on an empty board) is "how does it interact with hordeling outburst and dragon fodder".

Probably not until rotation.

He does fetch up deathmist raptor, and any number of other things, but in a world with nykthos and genesis hydra I don't see it.

Having said that you should probably hold them, every article I've read is expecting them to go up significantly after rotation. I'm looking to get a hold on one for commander, he's going in my ezuri deck, since he can grab almost every elf, while being big enough to matter without tribal synergy. Drop him, grab elvish archdruid, untap, cast everything.

It's definitely a spicy one. The maindeck is a bit soft to Twin but the sideboard makes up for it. I'm always looking for an excuse to jam 4 Figures and 4 Lavaman though.
