There's also the rare occasion when I'm at FNM and I just care more about seeing some friends than playing. After all, it's just FNM. Part of playing Magic is about the people. I probably owe Magic for enabling to meet the majority of my friends, like you guys.

Best part about FNM is seeing friends.

I want to play Kolaghan's Command in a deck. Any ideas?

Not touching that with a ten foot pole because no one is going to change anyone else's mind about pro/con social justice, and this isn't really the forum for it.

/edited to remove the stupid

Going a different direction - does anyone have any experience with arranging a play testing session for something they designed, either virtual or in person? Been working on a new card game for a couple years now and have a few mechanics / ideas I want to test before going further. Z-man Games liked the pitch but won't consider anything till theres a full prototype. Inspiration of game is D&D, MtG, WoW TCG PvE, Descent/HeroQuest, Pathfinder Adventure Card game.

I'm in love with Jacob Wilson's list. I realize he just wanted to go with something safe but it looks like a great deck moving forward.

Which list is that? Have a link for us returning players lured back in with the promise of big red dragons flying around?

Not touching that with a ten foot pole because no one is going to change anyone else's mind about pro/con social justice, and this isn't really the forum for it. I've summarized the entire following discussion anyway:

Comment about social justice
Comment about how social justice is bad
Comment about social justice not being important
Comment about social justice just being censorship
Comment about social just being about inclusion not exclusion
Comment about social justice being removing of subjective enjoyment of medium in question
Comment about social justice that strays into personal attack
Comment with counter insult
Comment with retort
Comment with counter retort
comment with questioning of sexual preference
Comment of suggestion to shut the fuck up
comment relating to behaving like a vacuum

Comment with dick joke
comment with dick joke pun
comment with pun of pun
comment with lulz of pun
continuation of original thread of discussion of weird decks.

Kait is right. Dumb move and rehash of an old Bash.org snippet anyway.

That list looks good. From my brewing I don't see a good attack angle as the deck has a curve that starts having answers earlier than the Abzan decks I've faced so far. Maybe force to make them choose between developing boardstate or protecting life? I would have to be on the burn plan against it g2 as its very anti creature focused, but the courser rhino lion package makes that seem very risky.

Just watched the feature trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road and now I'm as hard as a diamond in an ice storm.

That trailer made me feel the same feelings as watching the original back in the day. Midniting that one definitely.

Been playing around with this after doing a sealed with double chiefs:

[deck=Hellrider's Ghost]
4 Bloodstained Mire
14 Mountain
1 Swamp
1 Temple of Malice

4 Zurgo Bellstriker
2 Monastery Swiftspear
2 Firedrinker Satyr
4 Lightning Berserker
4 Ire Shaman
4 Dragon Whisperer
4 Brutal Hordechief

4 Lightning Strike
4 Searing Blood
4 Wild Slash

Sideboard:
1 Outpost Siege
1 Arc Lightning
1 Dragon Fodder
1 Hordeling Outburst
1 Twin bolt
1 Roast
[/deck]

Trying to find a manasink that's as useful as Crucible was. Monkeying with FDS vs Swiftspear.

The dream:
0 - Zurgo - 1mana
3 - Zurgo Swif - 1mana
6 - Zurgo Swift Morph -3mana
12 - Zurgo Swift Ire -1mana
21 - Zurgo Swift Ire Chief -4mana

With the mana breaks, other cards can fill along the progression to either push damage via burn, remove blockers to keep Ire on, or to dash to keep dudes in hand for the wipe, primarily a t5 dash bersker into an post wipe empty board. In the longer game a resolved chief can break stalemates, and with 6 sources of B I think one should appear before turn 4, otherwise some mountains can be confluences.

I think the original version is more powerful than the ghost due to Zealot and Wolf, but this may have some sort of legs still.

I was thinking about something like this: http://decks.deckedbuilder.com/d/55167

Are you finding Dash strong enough on its own? I was having a hard time finding enough upside of a disappearing board without using ETB triggers. Which ended me up here:

[deck]Red Bonds[/deck]

Pay W for 2/2 flier on dashing. When all pieces on line, pay RW to create a 2/2 flier and deal 3 damage.

Its my pet deck right now as I see if its gonna work at all, seems very greedy. Still have 9 slots.

Double white, double red, 10 white sources, and an aggressive curve. What could go wrong?

Yes. I tested a game called Yomi when it was in development. We used LackeyCCG but boy howdy was it just the worst thing. I'm sure there are better virtual card game sandboxs out now since this was 2007. The guy who made it already had a following of people eager to test something he made so getting smart people playing wasn't an issue.

How is Yomi? It seemed kinda sweet.

@thrillho - lots and often lol Totally a Magical Christmasland deck right now. Don't think this one will ever leave the backburner without another RW land or a way to keep it alive until all the pieces are assembled, and even then it looks to be too much for too little.

The Grixis Alesha + Living Lore combo seems much more consistent and useful.

@Jamie-I've been looking at Tabletop Simulator to not have to worry about existing rulesets or anything for online sessions:

Did you guys test a completed prototype or did you test things in stages as the game got more and more developed?

I have so many complaints but I'm mature enough to know that's because I love the game so much and have spent so much time with it, the most microscopic problems just become bigger and bigger.
It tries to test the r>p>s>r skill with attack>blockdodge>throw>attack, but as you learn your own character more, as well as understanding that character's matchups, it becomes less about straight-up rock/paper/scissors. Every game i'll find myself thinking something like
"my 0.2 speed attack beats all of his options that aren't a dodge. Of course I could throw his dodge, and because he knows I have my 0.2speed-attack, I have momentum so he's basically locked into dodging. But with only one fast-attack in my hand, I can game this momentum by simply not playing it, keeping my momentum" This momentum shifts as new information comes up and the game rewards you for getting reads and understanding matchups.
And then on top of it all I guess there's the yomi 'skill' where some people are just better than others at guessing the correct r/p/s choice.

Yeah, it's objectively sweet. I have a tournament win under my belt but it's not saying a lot because, while the community has grown and come a long way, it's still 300 people max. Right now we have a long-term league of 50 people which is the biggest turnout for an event to date.

Completed prototype. We had 5 pieces of artwork, one for each of the 5 characters at the time, but the game was fully functional. As functional as you could get the sandbox cardgame simulator, at least.

@Lordax, I've been playing a lot of RDW and the dashers are consistently strong. Not sure if it's good enough, since it doesn't have those, "Turn two, take five" draws.
