It wasn't a comment on players advertising for their store as much as it was a statement of the quality of CFB players vs SCG.

I don't see it in black and white like that. It was just good players vs. good players.

Ah, gotcha. Does scg even have a team anymore? Or did you just mean the open series regulars?

by Valdarith
I'm not sure they have a "team" so much as a "clique" of open regulars and article writers. Main references include Anderson, Nelson, CVM, and BBD. Tom Ross and Brad Nelson are exceptions as I feel they are very high quality players while the others are above average.

Having said that, they do have Kibler, Chapin, and Thompson as writers and they are clearly high level players.

All told, I do enjoy what SCG has to offer and the competitive scene is better having them around to host such high quality tournaments. If the SCG clique I mentioned above isn't the strongest team around, it is at least the most recognized group of personalities in the game, and that's a big deal.

Also, Wizards and CFB could learn a lot from their tournament streams.

He's one of the best commentators for sure. He's like LSV in that he basically carries whoever is commentating with him.

What do you guys think us the best mono red deck? Heroic, AIR, RDW, Sledgehammer, and Devotion all seem very deep right now.

Hey! We're very discerning with our red decks!

I still like mono-red devotion and after doing some cursory testing against all the decks that did well at the invitational, I feel confident in saying it's a real deck(pending PT metagame).

This makes me hopeful. I'd love to play red devotion again. Also looking at R/G (G/R?) Monsters.

Tiny Leaders has turned into a cult at my LGS. The handful of players have decided it's the best format ever and has actively tried and failed to recruit everyone in the store to play.

Too bad it fucking sucks.

I'm drawn to it mainly because it's the closest thing to Legacy I'll ever get around here. The big drawback to the format is the lack of commanders to choose from, but hopefully WotC addresses that in the future. It was fortunate that such good leaders were printed in FRF.

I already have a Tymaret deck and am in the process of building a cheap Shu Yun deck.

I am playing Ezuri in tiny leaders but i miss gaea's cradle, i will have to buy it at some points because it is the best card in the deck by a wide margin. Anyway deck is a bomb even without cradle unless every opponent is packing tons of sweepers

I will build zurgo as soon as i have time because i must have a mono red deck for every format.

You know these types of people. They have no clue what they're talking about, but they are so quick to tell you how great they are and shit. "yeah, I'm pretty good at magic the gathering" they say. What a joke. I bet they're all laughing right now, saying "boy-howdy do I love me some red cards"

Have any secrets you care to share?

I've been out of standard for so damned long, but Red Devotion looks appealingly powerful.

http://www.polygon.com/2015/3/30/831366 ... ing-its-me

While its about videogames in particular, I think it crosses over into why some of us bounce in and out of MtG and gaming in general. Theres some weeks where I NEED to flop cards as self care, and other weeks where the time investment has a greater ROI in doing something completely different.

Has anyone else ever been in that place where everyone is telling you about how awesome it is to be slinging cardboard at the moment but you are basically, meh. And then you see something (in my case DTK spoiler) bam, you have the itch again to burn faces?

The only time when i get "meh" is during Prereleases.
