What did she do to you?

Old man is clearly raping that dude's face.
More importantly, what didn't she do to me?

the scg commentators will sometimes say 'Mr. A doesn't want to draw because he'll be put into the x-y-1 w/l/d bracket since he has a weak matchup against control decks"
how real is the strategy of forfeiting a timed out game?

Song goes in
And yes forfeiting round early rounds so you don't draw is a real thing...
Lets say round 3 you draw with UB control as Mardu. That early in the tourney, a draw might as well be a loss. Would you rather be in the tie bracket, where your chances of playing decks that have good long grindy matchups against you, or would you rather play against a UW heroic deck in the 2-1 bracket?

This is obvious based on what you've already said, but since control decks have the largest likelihood of drawing then entering the draw bracket gives you a greater likelihood of being matched against control. If that's a bad matchup then you don't want that. Of course, this "strategy" has a very fast drop-off, and it all depends on how many rounds and how many players. If it's late in the tournament and you don't have any losses, or it's already day 2 and you can afford a second or third loss at a GP then it's something to consider. But if you're at the top tables of a GP on day 2 then it's hard to believe your deck is weak to control.
Now that SCG Opens are 15 rounds and structured like a GP it may come up more often, depending on how prevalent control is in the given format at the time. This also presumes you've done some scouting and have a good idea of what you'd face if you take the draw or the loss.

to everyone here, there is no draw bracket of FNM so going 2-1-1 is just better

by Valdarith
But everyone here always goes x-2 so wouldn't it be 1-2-1?

So much hate for my local players. Every last one backed out of going to regionals next weekend. Makes it a little hard to justify going.

They didn't want to deal with a 6 hour drive and a hotel stop. The annoying part was that they were all but certain that they were going when I asked last week.

Looking for something to watch. SCG is Legacy, no thanks. CFB is Team Sealed,
pass. Shit formats.
I Google "MTG streams" and find some website that aggregates MTG streams. #1 on the list is SCG's stream with 6k viewers. Never realized how little viewers SCG actually gets. Decided to check out what other games get to compare. I notice two things:
1. Some Hearthstone streamer has 30k+ viewers currently. Just one stream. Lol, GG MTG.
2. Hearthstone looks absolutely terrible. It looks like an iPhone app game. Why is this so popular? I get that the MTGO client has bugs, but it at least looks better than this garbage:

During the really big tournaments, LoL would pull over 100k viewers. Starcraft tournaments frequently pull 50-60k and many popular WoW streamers pull 10-15k independently.

Hell, imaqtpie is streaming LoL right now with 31k viewers.

Hearthstone was made to be visually appealing with affects and shit. When you win, your opponent literally explodes.
