I'm on Jeskai Heroic Combo and GBx currently. I'm not certain if Sidisi Whip is better or worse than GB Constellation. Waiting for input from Zem (I've been creeping on /r/spikes).
GB Constellation > Sidisi.

Don't know about GB vs Abzan; both have strengths.
I feel the same way, but I keep getting pulled toward Sidisi Whip. I think it's a playstyle thing. I really want to try Sidisi Whip with Treasure Cruise.

Playing with 24 lands in Temur Monsters.

Round 1 UB Control:
- Mull down to 5 game one, each hand having only one land. Opponent floods out and I got lucky.
- Game two mull down to 6. First hand had no lands. Manage to win because my opponent couldn't get more than 4 lands after 10 turns.

Round 2 Temur Mirror:
- Game one no red sources when I run 15. Drew into everything that needed red. (all 3 Lightning Strikes, one Crater's Claw, 2 Ashcloud Phoenix)
- Game two mulled down to 4 because each hand only gave 1 land with no mana dorks. Loses.

Round 3 Temur Mirror:
- Risked a hand where the only 3 lands I had were the exact 3 copies of Mana Confluence. You can imagine how that worked out when I couldn't draw any more lands than that.
- Mulled down to 4 again because I couldn't get more than 1 land hands.

Round 4 Abzan Aggro:
- Fuck it, kept a hand with a forest and two Elvish Mystics. They get Bile Blighted, never saw another land for the 8 turns.
- Stuck on two lands. Two Rattleclaws get killed anytime they get played.

How was this even statistically possible. I want to take a blowtorch to the deck. This seems to happen any time I attempt to play Monsters. It's a sign to stay the fuck away from this archtype.

A buddy played Monsters last season and always had this shit happen to him too.

How do you shuffle before the event, between matches, and during sideboarding?

I normally pile shuffle in piles of 7, followed by regular shuffling. If weird mojo is going on I pile shuffle in different numbers, but it still happened.

After reading Flores's How To Cheat article (http://fivewithflores.com/2009/05/how-to-cheat/) I always shuffle the same way. The night before, when my deck is finalized, I have it all in playsets with creatures, spells, land. Then I do 2 pile shuffles with 10 piles. Then I riffle about 15 times and put my deck away. Before the first match I just riffle about 10 times and present. When sideboarding I pile once and riffle about 14 times, same with between rounds.

I don't know if what I do makes any difference at all. I get mana screwed and flooded every once in a while like anybody else. But I've never had a day full of bad beats so bad that you're flooded/screwed all day long. The particular way I shuffle probably doesn't matter much, but I do think that Flores's article has some good points about randomization.

I usually alternate between riffle and mash shuffling

variance is a thing

I dunno, it seems to happen much, much more to me when I play heavily into green. I guess the Magic gods are telling me to keep away from G/x monsters/devotion.

On another note, earlier this week I actually drew 22 out of 24 of my lands with 20 cards left in my library. I lost when my opponent swung for game with a single Prognostic Sphinx for exactly 3 when he had no cards left to draw due to the fact that I managed to Thoughtseize away both copies of PLA at the right times, and he had to dig deep till the last 7 cards to get the singleton Sphinx that kept eluding him.

Some of your losses were completely your fault so don't get discouraged.

ITT: green creature decks with 30+ mana have consistency problems.

Well yeah, technically 31 counting the mana dorks. It was just one of those nights where all variances and statistics were really REALLY against you.

Some of your losses were completely your fault so don't get discouraged.
Keeping hands that I shouldn't have? Yeah I know. It was starting getting ridiculous enough for me to stop caring what were acceptable or keepable hands. The game with the three Mana Confluences was when my brain decided to shut off and just ride it out.

Tilting is normal and the only way to counter that is developing the skill to know when you are tilting and snap yourself out of it.

3-2 dropped the open today, sold all my standard cards. Played an awesome URw tempo deck today in our power cube. Went 3-1. It was so much fun to play, making me want to learn modern/legacy even more.

Bought more staples for my Animar deck with the credit. First game with new card Glimpse of Nature. Casted it with palinchron while going infinite, drawing my whole deck and winning.

I've bought Dominion expansions and the only ones I don't have in my hands yet is Intrigue and Seaside. Now my biggest problem is storage and transportation.

Well I sold allll my standard cards except jeskai/rwburn tokens JUST in case I want to play a tourney. I just don't have the time to practice as much as I did like last season, so without the reps, I am not getting back a return on my investments of playing tourneys.

So the place where I play FNM is right next to a bar. I was going in between rounds and buying drinks for my defeated opponents, becoming more and more drunk as the night progressed. After winning, I started slamming more drinks while playing pickup games with my buddy Mike. The bartender was pretty cute, so naturally I was flirting with her. At some point, I became quite drunk. I barely remembered leaving and somehow I didn't get home until 530 in the morning. I woke up yesterday with a hangover of the worst kind - splitting headache, aversion to sunlight, and still tasting rum every time I exhaled. Today I felt normal and decided to text my buddy Mike about what the hell happened Friday night....

Here are some of the text highlights:

I'm dreading checking my bank account tomorrow when the PENDING credit card portions finalize. On the other hand, I just may go back to the bar.

In other news, I learned that it's perfectly acceptable to sing The First Cut Is The Deepest when Murderous Cut is played. But only once.

R2 a guy forgot to pay for his slaughter pact. He drew, and I was like, "so you lose" (I was dead on board and him forgetting was my only out) and he was like "are you really going to be a dick about it?" I let him off with it, but don't think it's a dick move if I didn't. Opinion?

I mean, shit, name one person here who hasn't been trolled or insulted on this site. You either get over it, develop thicker skin, and then learn to hang with the big dogs or you ragequit and then come back demanding an apology while threatening to bring your lawyers to sue.

The joke's on him. We're all Spam gimmicks anyway.
