Last Fire Emblems were pretty easy but once you come back to the beginning of the serie it was hardcore (SNES versions). Like Hard mode of first Fire Emblem on GBA

All the gba ones are good (one is on the virtual console and is probably the best one imo), the ds remake is meh, worth trying.
The more recent ones were made with the west in mind and a bit easier, the old SNES ones have translations of varying degrees of completion, FE4 is the most complete iirc
