4-3. Dream crushed. I think I'm going to quit magic for a while after this.

Partially because I'm furious at wizards for the bye situation, partly because I just going see the point right now. Not really enjoying myself and constantly losing to variance. I know I'm a decent player, and I feel my deck was very good today, but I just can't deal with the variance (both me and my opponents). I've only played one real game of magic today. Everything else might as well have been a coin flip. Who has mana issues this game? I'm not angry, just defeated.
You never get mana screwed in Kaijudo. ;)

Too bad Kaijudo is a bad game.

Gilaflame. The game was fun but no local support. Game from what I understand has diversified a bit. In the beginning it was entirely curve dependent. Don't know the state of the game beyond word of mouth.

Can't decide what I like blowing out people with more, my 1 Twisted Image or my 1 Shadow of Doubt.

Twisted Image because randomly executing a Spellskite is so money.

Killing Pods turn dork is nice.

Or making Deceiver Exarch a 4/1 and dealing lethal.

Oh. They're both games made by Wizards of the Coast, of course there is going to be some overlap.

Is Naya Friends (the walker heavy version) a good deck in standard? I've seen it a few times now online and just killed it while it durdles and does nothing, Junk and Jund just seems so much better (from the pov of a burn player).

I don't think any of them are good; best three decks are UW, MBC and Mono U (bit behind the other two), then Burn. Everything else is strictly less competitive than those three against an expected field.

I've read the first two books, and I'm wondering whether to continue or not.

Won't lie if not for sleeping with someone who was encouraging me to watch it I wouldn't have made it that far.

I'm keen to have Wilfy back; he's arguably out best limited player nationally and is a five time PT competitor.

Does one book translate into one episode of the anime? Or does one book contain multiple episodes?

I have no idea, I just googled to check in which book that storyline starts...

So... Elspeth isn't dead?

Well, she was definitely killed, but she might be undead.

Heliod killed her. Ajani carried her body to be taken to the Underworld by Erebos. It's possible she could then get out of the Underworld. It's also possible that Erebos could decide not to participate in Heliod's shit. Either way, it'll be a "Return to" block before we find out one way or the other.

Rescue from the Underworld.

Posted: Mon Jun 02, 2014 8:08 pm
by DocLawless
Yup. Thematically, they've shown that one can escape the Underworld in Theros.

I'd like to see what a black/white Elspeth could do, personally.

Posted: Mon Jun 02, 2014 8:22 pm
by Stardust
Most escapes turn you into a Returned though, with no memory of your previous life. And no soul. Elspeth wouldn't be Elspeth - she'd be a faceless zombie.

Posted: Mon Jun 02, 2014 8:34 pm
by RedNihilist
Well, I wouldn't mind a Zombie Elspeth as long as she kills Heliod :v

Posted: Mon Jun 02, 2014 10:18 pm
by Tyrael
Zombie Elspeth doesn't fit with her character at all

it'd be a major storyline screwup on wizards part

Posted: Mon Jun 02, 2014 10:50 pm
by DocLawless
I don't think it's out of the question to have her manage to escape, soul at least partially intact and not as a zombie. Even if that's not how the Underworld works. R&D's rule is they don't break the rules until they do. If it ever does happen there'd be a story behind it, and it wouldn't be as simple as "she got out". But until "Return to Theros", that's just speculating.

Alright, this 2048 game is officially dead to me. No more. I am done.

2048 block? Got it.
4096 block? Easy.

8192 block? MOTHER FUCKING DONE.

Top score is now 102884.

I have a screenshot. I am uninstalling it.

Fucking done.

And to hell with you, Stardust. You are not getting me back into it ever again.

Oh, back to the Japan thing, I appreciate all the advice you guys gave me.

I just found out I'll be staying in Tachikawa (somewhere near Tokyo?). Anyone familiar with that area?

I'll have threetwo weekends to be able to explore the city. What are some things I should go see?

Hostess bars are an interesting experience, if only once. Expensive, but amusing. You don't have to look very hard in Tokyo to find one.

I'd say take one of those weekends and head out to Kyoto, too. Fuckin' castles.
