Moving this to the restricted area would be a good idea. A new recruitment thread could be started for anyone else looking to join.
We've discussed it before, and I agree in thinking it makes sense. I know on the one hand that it's been argued that we've nothing to hide in terms of speaking our minds and taking responsibility for same, but I'm of a mind that we're inviting bullshit asshattery by leaving our primary clan convo out in an open thread. Of course, the issue inherent in shutting the door is that while it keeps the drama queen behavior to a minimum, it also stifles recruitment of liked-minded individuals. It's not at this point as relevant as it was on Sally since D2R simply doesn't have the sheer traffic of the Sally
forums, but a point to consider. I believe the tier accesses would also need tweaked, but that shouldn't be an issue.

Bottom line, random onslaughts by rt's crank are not safe for public perusal and we do have a responsibility to protect the unprepared. ;-)

TubeHunter, while I respect your excellent trolling skillz, I, personally, hate you as a human being for making that thread.
So L33T
I swear, if you ever get an honorary Clan title, it better have the word troll in it.

Fuck you.

You're awesome.

Thanks, SM! My LGS doesn't do comics, but one of the local comic shops always participates. I used to take the kids, but that fell by the wayside when I stopped having time to keep up with books. They used to run their day on a Saturday...I'll have to look into it with the big fantasy art show coming up here in a few weeks.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Margaery Tyrell.

Man, the chick they got to play Brienne of Tarth is a fucking sasquatch!
Well yeah, she's supposed to be. :sherlock:

Also her name is awesome. "Gwendoline." Delightful.
Yeah, I know. I love the books. I was just surprised when I saw the actress they got to play her and I remember thinking, "Wow, they found the perfect person."

Just discovered that she's 6'3".

No worries, man...we play day/date juggling around my house all the time! :D I definitely need to take a look and see if either of the close shops are having anyone in...we have a couple of local guys (Dennis Hopeless and Kevin Mellon) that made the big leagues in the past few years and may come out to sign stuff and such. My kids each have sketches that Mellon did for them (of Sonic the Hedgehog and Harley Quinn) back in his early starving artist days. I missed our comic-con, so I'd like a chance to catch up with them. When the kids were little, I used to spend every Sunday afternoon gabbing with Dennis about comics/writing/philosophy while my kids ate Happy Meals and played with action figures in the game room. Life was simpler...

R_A mentioned contacting everyone in the FoS clan when he first appeared. I know he contacted me.

Can this entire thread be moved into the restricted area? That would effectively prevent people from peering in on our conversations.

Note that said peering.
Actually I think "peeing" would in some cases be just as functionally correct. ;-)

How fare you tonight, brother windstrider?
It's been an odd night. I had class this evening, and I
got really dizzy at one point. I turned around, and it was as if the world took a few moments to catch up to me. Thankfully, that feeling passed after several minutes. And now I've got a nasty headache centered above my right eye. Here's hoping the ibuprofen kicks in rather quickly so that I can get some sleep soon.

Update on the ex-wife. Another hearing has been scheduled for May 7th for a motion of some kind. And then there's another scheduled court appearance for May 29th for a preliminary hearing. I got that from Missouri CASEnet, where it still lists the charges as felony class D and a misdemeanor. As near as I can tell, she is still in county lockup.

Yep. The point being discussed is moving our primary convo thread under said clubhouse roof.

@windstrider - It sounds like things are still level and locked down...I'll hold off on dump trucks and back hoes until you say different. ;-) Sorry to hear about the headache...no fun. Rest well.

Updated UG list with board:

[deck]
4 Breeding Pool
3 Cavern if Souls
3 Forest
5 Island
4 Hinterland Harbour

4 Augur of Bolas
4 Delver of Secrets
4 Snapcaster Mage
4 Quirion Dryad

1 Runechanter's Pike

2 Rapid Hybridization
4 Simic Charm
3 Spell Rupture
3 Syncopate
4 Think Twice
4 Thought Scour
4 Unsummon

Sideboard
1 Artful Dodge
1 Cavern of Souls
1 Dispel
1 Dissipate
1 Essence Scatter
3 Fog
3 Memory's Journey
1 Negate
3 Talrand, Sky Summoner[/deck]

Notes:
- Unsummon is absurd; it's mostly for be-buying Snapcaster or Augur with life gain (you block their guy then Unsummon yours), which is understandably powerful. There are other cute things to do as well, like unsummoning guys who are being enchanted, being a faux dispel etc.
- Added a single pike for the interaction with Spell Rupture and EOT Snapcaster tricks. It's also just really good against Thragtusk.
- Simic Charm is
deceptively powerful, functioning as either 4 Negates or 4 Giant Growth or 4 Unsummon. Very nice interaction with Snapcaster obviously.
- 24 blue instants/sorceries for Delver, Augur, Dryad and Talrand.
- Fog is for locking out low removal hyper-aggro decks; they do a lot of damage to themselves already but can't really interact with your clock themselves; a single fog can be 10 plus life and you can easily Snapcaster it back after they declare attackers to blow them out for lethal.
- Memory's Journey is apparently great vs. reanimator, but I haven't tested it yet; I think this deck murks reanimator anyway.

I gave some thought to the clan discussion thread and I think I'd just like to leave this one here. If I have anything private to post, I can just do that in the private board.

I do think we should start a private thread in the private board, just to get some momentum going. It may be difficult to keep track of two threads, but I expect this one will get more use.

To facilitate this line of thought, I just created a private go-to thread for things we deem appropriate to post "behind closed doors". My thought is that someone can simply point to something they've posted in the private thread for casual viewing (e.
g., personal photos that one doesn't want publicly available), or call out "to the back room" or somesuch to suggest an active discussion be continued behind the curtain.

I'm against moving the primary thread for two reasons:

1. If you want to post general convo stuff in the restricted area, there's already a thread for that, and
2. Since we decided to not give restricted access before Tier 2, this thread is pretty much the best way for new members to understand what we're about and vice versa.

I said pretty much what you point out in (2); that's why I just started a thread over in the private section specifically for bounce discussions.

I think Sasky left the word "often" out of his question - "How often do you flashback..."

Anyway, since it looks like the main win con is a big ol' Dryad then two turns of it being unblockable > one turn of it + something being unblockable.

Sasky brings up a point that I'd love to have explained to me...

How is it that an American movie based on an American comic book opened outside the US a week before it opens here? I'm sure there's some logic behind it...if anyone knows, please enlighten me. It seems absurd that people seeing the movie now can't discuss it with us until Friday without dropping spoils.

I'm the confused one. Why did I think that artful dodge needed white to flashback???? Now that I know it's blue to flashback, artful dodge is definitely the stronger spell.

I agree with these sentiments, but I also feel we shouldn't move strictly based on principle. But I'm one of those types who will dig his heels in and say "fuck you, your mother, and the clown she rode in on" to anybody who screws with me.

The entire reason we moved here from Sally was because Sally didn't feel what we said belonged there. So we moved to an entirely separate forums. Sally people can
look all they want, but they need their heads examined if they think what we say here should have any bearing whatsoever on our Sally accounts or what we say on Sally. Only what we say on Sally should matter over there.

Morning, folks. Off to a double-shift at work. Making money is fun.

I actually ate a bowl of fruit this morning instead of my usual carb-and-grain-heavy, not-natural-at-all breakfast. I feel like my body is rejecting it like an incompatible liver. Goes to show how much your body gets used to your usual shit, I suppose. I hope it goes away soon.

RE: Russian Alara AKA Exxarion Universe (or however the fuck it's spelled)

He followed our conversation on Sunday when all the crazy shit on Sally was going down in the R/x Forum and decided he would do his best to report us (as in Alex and whoever else was posting in the new RDW Discussion Thread) and attempt to get people banned. He later explained that he had to do the best he could to protect "his" people.

So I told him to get the fuck out. He's a regular Benedict Arnold. Pretending to be our friend only to sell us out. There's a word for that. It's called a NARC. And narcs aren't welcome in the FoS.

edit:
Added my two cents.
Make sure you report the thread, too. Preferably using the exact same wording as mine for extra lulz. :V

I'm still wondering what was reportable in my post in that thread. As a matter of fact, I posted that before I saw that Alex had reported the OP, so I was acting on my own accord. My post there was a LOT nicer than it could have been.

This list looks pretty sick. I'm prone to suggesting bad ideas without really thinking them through or testing first, but part of me thinks a singleton Prime Speaker Zegana would be disgusting in this.
Imagine the card draw off a large Dryad or something with a Pike? She'd also be a beatstick herself, and would be a "prime" unsummon target.

I actually like this list more than the UB one I've been playing. It has a lot more flexibility and greater tempo plays. I feel like the UB list I've been playing ultimately wants to play control and not tempo.

nInteresting that you're playing Rapid Hybridization when you previously dismissed the card at GTC release. Change of heart? :p
