it's the kind of series that if it makes you think you probably didn't have a brain to speak of to begin with.

One thing I can tell you is don't mix antipsychotics with alcohol.

I hear this high school drama anime called the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya is pretty good
having read it, no.

like it's fine, it's entertaining in a very "wacky stuff is happening BUT THIS SUBPLOT IT'S SO DEEP (as written by a 12 year-old for an audience of 10 year-olds)" way but it's not very substantive or deep in the sense that you're reading something because it is deep.
it's like if you took any of the layered commentary from FLCL and replaced the bulk of it with "HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS ARE SO KAWAII AND DO WACKY THINGS... BUT THEY DO WACKY THINGS
BECAUSE THERE'S ALSO A WACKY SECRET! XD" and also suddenly one of the main characters is a childish god.

99% of series you hear about being good are popular because 2-d goddess 3-d pig disgusting maybe you will see the underboob of a 16 year-old a few times.

i think this is what you have to realize when you evaluate a series and recommend them to others.

for example: ghost in the shell has a lot of side and underboob, but the main character is an adult, but did you also know that you're looking at the bikini line and side/underboob of a man in a female cyborg body?

That means that today, every sorry motherfucker that didn't get paid is complaining to me about it.
do they install additional IE toolbars with their wellfare checks idgi
Well typically either when they don't get paid either they fucked up or we fucked up (the first one being more likely), but if I were to wager a guess what happens with the money, a councilman probably spends it on hookers and blow.

I guess I kind of underestimate how much the fandom's estimation of a series' quality of is driven by shallow pubescent wish-fulfillment fantasy.

What would actually qualify as a deep anime in your opinion?

Personally, I enjoyed Ergo Proxy a lot.

the cowboy bebop manga IIRC was only ok. it didn't have half the depth of the show, but i also am pretty sure it was just a supplement to it
