The electricity for pretty much everything in a large area around me went our about 34 hours ago, and they're estimating that my house will either get it back in about 32 hours or in three days. I tried to catch up on this thread, but my phone died at page 868, though my neighbors have a generator and nicely let me use their electrical outlet.
Pros: school was out yesterday and today, I'm sitting by a warm fire, and I read through about 150 pages of A Clash of Kings with about 150 to go (the best parts)
Cons: it's 46 degrees (F) in the rest of the house, I don't know whether or not I have tests when I get back in school, I'll have to make these days up later, no running water, I only get 4G in my very cold bedroom, and zem is rolling straight fives. It's also cold.

Some people say there's some kind of huge overestimation in terms of numbers of people slain in those. There are some sources that speak about multiple millions, we've documented aroun 1,1 million in Aushwitz, the biggest, german concentration camp.
If you mean "polish concentration camp" == that's just a misconception of people who can't understand that german and russians were creating concenctration camps here in Poland. On the other hand that doesn't mean polish people didn't killed Jews - there were documented cases of small-village homicides, taking over jewish landlord's money by peasants.
If you mean "what happened in concentration camps" - well, as a little example: when Germans runned out of killin' gas (Cyclon B) they used truck's exhaust pipe (pushing it into someone's throat) and then generating hot smoke to burn their internal organs. Not sure if Mengle stories are real (like
sewing twins together and wicked shit like that) but generally, it was fucked up time.

I'd have to double-check the PM but I think Zem used the word quaint when describing AuschwitzSome people say there's some kind of huge overestimation in terms of numbers of people slain in those. That sucks, man. Clash was good. Storm was okay. Feast drug it's feet, IMO, but then it got weird. Dance continues that trend. The first book remains the best one.

I was a fan of the first 3. I actually thought storm was the best. Feast could have been renamed feces and I'd recommend spark noting that bitch to avoid reading it. Dance was...ok. Game was good because you're so innocent the first time you read it - "Boy, I can't wait to see how Ned gets back at those mean old Lannisters... wait, what's happening? OH GOD, WHY?"
Swords was good because when you read it you're like "Okay, George, you hurt me before with Ned, but I'm older and wiser now and you'll never hurt me like that again... OH GOD, WHY?"
Dance was good because I waited 7 fucking years for that book and it damn well better have been.

Game caught me off guard with how good it ended up being. Like, my expectation was about a 5 and I got a 7-ish. I expected a 7+ from Clash and Storm and only got a 7 at most, so Game sticks in my mind
better. I keep saying I will go back and reread them after he's finished the series but that's like 20 years away at this rate.
I almost gave up after Feast. I thought "damn after [spoiler edit: "all the shit that happens in Storm"] surely shit is on now..." But instead I got [spoiler edit: "all the shit that happens in Feast"].

I don't mind it as you have completely different perspective to look at things like Aushwitz. Nazis managed to turn killing into refined, industrial process and completely destroy the definition of humankind. I'm not that naive to try to force our perspective into others.I'd have to double-check the PM but I think Zem used the word quaint when describing Auschwitz
There's actually one, good movie I'd reccomend to watch - the Pianist. Actually a good piece of movie which won three Oscars and had four more nominations. There's no Aushwitz in there, just Treblinka (a bit more savage concentration camp). Oh, and no national blabbering as it was co-produced with Germans, French and British folks.

Clan Announcement
Okay guys, announcement time.
The Council has been very busy during the last few days organizing a restructure within the Clan . A lot of this has to do with streamlining our sub forums and Tier system. What started out as a thorough evaluation of our member base to make the best possible decisions for those who deserve a promotion quickly became something else as we began to reevaluate our structure.
We've finally made some headway and we're now happy to share with everyone what we've been discussing.
First things first: You've all been demoted.
Gotcha. But we have abolished out Tier System. From now on, we essentially have only 2 classes of Clan bros: Initiates and Full Members. Newcomers who have requested membership will have posting privileges in the main thread and will be known as Initiates. After some time of regular posting and trust-building, Initiates will be bumped up to Full
Members. Full Members will now have access to the Restricted area.
Simple, isn't it?
We are also in the process of cleaning up our subforums. In order to fully streamline our subforums, we've had to weigh on what threads we want to keep and which ones we want to get rid of. We haven't finalized things as of yet, but one of the important areas currently on the chopping block is our Clan Brewery. This will open up more brewing in the Standard and Modern threads in the public areas of DTR and could potentially increase more traffic to the site. When finalized, the threads will be closed and archived for reference. However, if there is anything you guys would really like to save in the Restricted Area, now would be the time to let us know.
There may be some more developments in the near future, but right now you guys deserve to know what's been keeping the Council so busy. I know some of y'all may have expected to receive some promotions. Believe me when I say that none of these decisions have
been made lightly; we've spent a lot of time in discussion, and already you guys have seen some of the chaos in our attempts thus far to reorganize our house. By eliminating the Tier System, we hope to discard any guise of elitism that the Clan may have shown in the past. We're brothers first and foremost. We fight like brothers, we play like brothers, and we love each other like brothers (and I mean that in the way that black people do, which I think is more meaningful that way). We don't need Tiers to distinguish people or to make certain people seem more important than others. Once you're fully accepted into the Clan, you're in. And that's the way it should be.
Like I said, we're still finalizing some things, so if you guys feel strongly about something, speak up and let us know.
That's all.

Sansa chapters are a slow creep. Right now they're just there for setting up other stuff. Just try to ignore her whiny bullshit and absorb what's happening around her.The battle of Blackwater Rush was epic. I'm still not sure whether the show or the book did it better. Sansa chapters pretty much always suck, but the surroundings for these ones were so awesome that I actually enjoyed them.

nSo really all that happened was T2 and T3 merged and became "full members".

Pretty much.
Sounds good on all points, redbroski.
So really all that happened was T2 and T3 merged and became "full members".
A huge part of this stemmed from the way it was set up in the first place. It kind of turned into this weird paradox that redthirst summed up perfectly: "Hey, you're a cool bro that I connect with on a personal level, can you help me with my deck." Or "Hey, you're really good at Magic, can you give me good life advice?" It just didn't work. We're still trying to figure out what to do with some of the threads from the Tier 3 section because of this, but overall, it will be for the best.

In a pinch, Khaos' beard can help turn this around.

I feel like you could probably just throw them all in the pot and anyone who, for example, builds good decks but doesn't have much to say about someone's personal stuff, will just stay out of it. Kinda like how I have little to no input towards UW control, so I would not be trying to convince a thread for it that Cavalry Pegasus is amazeballs.Pretty much.

But in reality it'll probably be a mess for a while first until we level ourselves out.
