I'd watch a two-hour commercial for Crest toothpaste if it starred Ian McKellen.

So, I gave in and ordered 2 pain seers and the rakdos scrylands since I was already at it.
Bought 'em from channel fireball though, since they still had 4 seers at preorder for $8 a piece.

Also, it gave me a survey asking how I knew about them and I said it was Z's fault, and that I chose them in part because of him.
They say speaking with your money is the best way to do stuff, so here's hoping that somebody that's not a robot reads that :P

Also, my biggest issue with them doing urza's saga or the brother's war is that as cool as yawgmoth or the other villains are, Bolas is a utter baws, and if you have a villain THAT good, you don't leave him out.

Movies do well when they have a great villain, and he is definitely that.

Saito(Japanese Super Pro) UW control:

4 Sphinx's Revleation
4 Supreme Verdict
4 Jace, Architecht of Thought
4 Dissolve
4 Detention Sphere
4 Last Breath
3 Syncopate
3 Elspeth, Knight Errant
2 Azorius Charm
1 Aetherling

5 Island
5 Plains
4 Temple of Deceit
2 Temple of Silence
3 Mutavault
4 Azorius Guildgate
4 hallowed Fountain

Sideboard:
1 Opportunity(flex slot)
4 Soldier of Pantheon
4 Archangel of Thune
3
Gainsay
3 Dark Betrayel
My buddy beat him / that at the PTQ yesterday in the quarter finals.
Really interested in your buddies deck because at the risk of sounding like a prick, his sideboard seemed real bad. Not the cards themselves, but in lots of matchups it looked like he had way to many cards to bring in and not enough to take out.
Stock RW Devotion. He won the PTQ. I think I could have too if I played against esper / uw control all day instead of the bloody esper aggro deck. Trying to not be bitter / jealous, but it's hard. My buddy is not a great player, probably the worst in our group. Every dog has it's day I suppose. Feeling jaded.

^ this is your chance to show growth JS. We don't measure improvement by how we don't fall down; but instead by how we stand back up. The question isn't "when you're going to stop?", but "who's going to stop you?".

i mean, if he can do it, you can too. If he can beat a hall of fame candidate, so you can you. When life gives us obstacles, we choose whether to see light or dark. Choose light.

so there are plenty of places where you can pre-order full playsets of all commons and uncommons for a set for around $35. Is that worth it? For folks here who just stick to red only, I'd assume no. But if you always want the cardpool available to you, is buying that plus cherry picking rares and mythics a good deal?
@Wraspy - I always order said sets simply because I'm building for at least 2 people (son); my admittedly limited experience has been that even in opening 2-3 boxes of product between Sealed events and purchases, there are often UC cards that run short for finding 8 or more. I also like the convenience of having full playsets to pull from in the early weeks...there are often cards that are fun to blindside people with before the meta
starts to solidify.

Given your broad interests in deck-building, I'd say you would be well-suited for getting the C/UC sets and buying rares as needed or in speculation. Opening packs is fun (we play a casual game to do it using sugar packets as universal mana), but few sets recently have had the concentration of power rares to justify it.

Hmm... not sure how good flame-wreathed phoenix is... a 5/5 flier for 4 is pretty good for red but it's going to sometimes be a 3/3 hasty flier that comes back when it dies which could also be decent in some situation (but not as good as chandra's phoenix because of the inconsistency). The fact that your opponent gets to pick means they'll just let it be a 5/5 flier so they can doomblade it next turn or something.

I'm scared of what Mogis is going to debut at pricewise...I'm guessing $19.99 on SCG. I'm definitely finding renewed interest in the BR synergies we're seeing...I foresee days spent with Windstrider build-testing while helping him balance the dudes.

Keep in mind that Exava creates extra love for the Tribute mechanic...yes you can can either pay Tribute and get smacked by my hasted 5-power flyer or not pay it and get smacked by my hasted 3-power flyer who will come back after you kill it.

No protection; doesn't impact the board the turn it hits unless the opponent is stupid enough to let it go untouched.
