Cruised to an easy final round in this morning's 8 man, but got punished on a play line call in game 3.

We should have your cat and my daughter do team sealed. The opposing teams would just snap concede to the cuteness.

Team sealed requires 3 people. I think the puppy has to join as well.

I've been asleep since the last two DE crashes yesterday - has anyone played DE recently? Have they improve (any crashing)?

Basically is It is worth investing 3-4 hours after work tonight or should I just go and finish up RL stuff?

its a list i saw on the starcity games website. a guy got like 6th place with it i think. He definately was in the tip 8. check starcity decklists and they have an archive of all the top x decks for each event they run.

Is it Sealed or Draft? If its sealed you can just quickly read up on the format and you should do ok assuming to crack some bombs.

If its draft.... I suggest praying :frown: draft require a deep understanding of the format I doubt you can really prepare for that in one day.

Many of your opponents will try to play greedy manabases. Don't fall into this trap! Play a good curve, make sure you have 2 and 3 drops, and don't splash unless you have a "free" splash (ie: you have 3-4 sources with less than or equal to 1 basic).

Try to play your bombs, but don't get tunnel vision. Your commons are what should define your deck.

Play at least 14 creatures. I prefer 15 or 16 with tricks that double as removal, but 14 is fine.

Make sure you know what your deck's goal is. Since this isn't constructed, you will have a very limited time to learn how your deck wins. Do you want to use your trick to kill a
blocker on turn 3? Or do you need to save it to grow a heroic creature later? Do you want to play your 3/3 or your mana accel on turn 3? Are you the beatdown?

SIDEBOARD! A huge mistake people make in limited is thinking they don't need to sideboard. In this format more than most it is crucial to sideboard. Those glares and dark betrayals are invaluable, but even annul or viper's kiss can swing a match in your favor.

If I think of anything else I'll post it. Good luck.

Oh yea, one more thing concerning mana bases.

Make sure you have your curve in mind when crafting your mana base. Do you NEED :symw: :symw: on turn 3 for wingsteed rider? Maybe you should give plains the edge in your mana base.

You can play 16 lands if your deck is hyper aggressive and the curve tops at 4, but 17 is the safe choice, and if your deck is mana hungry and very good, don't forget that 18 is an option.

Consistency > power. The last sealed PTQ I did I had a pile of b/w cards that I went 7-2 with, just missing top 8. I had no bombs, very few powerful uncommons, but I had a good curve and could always cast my spells.

just lost round 1 of a sealed daily because I chose to tap his loyal Pegasus instead of my skyguard with lethal on the board and he had a trick to gain 1 life from his tormented hero. in hindsight this was a misplay (he told me I would have won), but at the time I felt that if I left the Pegasus up and he played another creature, I would be dead on the board. this way, if he had another creature, I would have like 6 outs to win...

fuck, nvm, it was just a misplay =/ any of my outs would have just tapped the blocker and left the Pegasus unable to block anyways...that blows

2-2 drop in ptq.

Had quite good deck with mistcutter hydra, xenagos and bow. Lost round when my opp was on 1 and I had bow and xenagos on board ... drew total of 14 out of 16 lands. Game 2 got turn 3 brimaz, managed to get him to 2 with burn in hand, he had aspect of the hydra for leathal after blocking (was at healty 12 with him having 8/8, brimaz, brimaz token and 3/2. Exactly leathal with aspect of the hydra).

Round 4 got turn 2 3/2, turn 3 2/2 all creatures get first strike, turn 4 mana fixing and 2/2 vigilance, turn 5 karametra, turn 3 3/3 centaur and 10/10 reverent hunter. Game 2 Left him at 1 but he jumped with nylea's disciple to 6, and 9/9 reverent hunter with previously cast colosus.

Man this is horrible time to not play magic..... damn you RL!!!!!!

On a plus side post BNG Champs Q's may give me and Pedros a chance to offload our 200+ THS boosters (though in my cases its only 170+ since I sold 60 earlier for $3 each (yeah, I know it wasn't a good deal)) or we can wait for a few more months and make huge profits once the third set is released (maybe holding onto 100 is enough).
