It's not Modern or Legacy playable, but you could probably flip it during spoiler season. I'll be dumping mine during then, the card still has decent casual appeal.

The key to magic finance is having a general idea of relative card powerlevel(voice of resurgence vs. say, fleecemane lion. Unique affect vs. rehash), potential eternal playability, commander/casual appeal, and "seasons".

Spoiler season, set rotations, and Modern/standard PTQ season are the big ones.

i just don't yet understand the new rotations of magic finance. back when i last bought cards (2005), there were 1-2 $20 cards per set, a handful of $10 cards and then a lot of bulk. cards peaked during "standard" and dropped significantly when standard was over. that was about it...there wasn't nearly this support for eternal formats and people hadn't yet lost their fucking minds
